Tried this small local bar to taste a few local foods. We were quiet surprised how much we like the red beans and rice with sausage. Their jambalaya was very too too. Boudin and the sampler basket were ok. The bar tender took care of all 20 or so customers; she was even fun and friendly. Our dinner with 4 drinks cost less than $ 50.

Great po’ boy and service during Mardi Gras. Very quick even with a crowd. They honored Groupon with no issues. The bar tender was very nice & efficient even though she was swamped.

The service was awesome despite a crowded bar with the Patriots game on. Server was great, friendly and attentive. The shrimp po boy was really good. I had the sucking pig, cochon de lait, which was good but I guess I thought it was supposed to be something different and better? Mind you I’ve never had it before. Anyways it was still good and you really can’t beat the price, atmosphere and service. Will return. Thank you!

Dang, Mike! You surprised me, dude! I stopped in here with fellow Unilocalers Joel M., Steve I., Re H, and Shannon S. for a bite to eat, after our first choice was serving up nothing but a closed kitchen. This spot is as no frills as it gets: it’s a bar with a few tables and chairs, if you want to eat. Oh yes, we wanted to eat. They serve up a nice selection of «pressed» sandwiches including a Cuban, a Muffaletta and roast beef. I had to go for the Cuban, just because I am always on the hunt for the perfect Cuban(does such a thing even exist in NOLA)? My Cuban came out and my first impression was that it looked really good, but looks can be deceiving. Once I dug into it, I was really shocked. It was great and was packed with pork, cheese and had the perfect amount of mustard. The flavor was outstanding and I couldn’t believe that I was eating something like this in a bar– this is so much better than your average bar food! Sure enough, I devoured the entire thing and was left with zero regrets. Did I mention that the sandwich is only $ 10? Oh, yeah. The only thing that would have made this experience more perfect would have been if I had thought to get fries. The bar itself has Laguinitas IPA on tap, which was enjoyable and video poker and plenty of TVs round out the experience. Once again, it’s places like this that make me glad that smoking is now banned in NOLA bars. I noticed that other reviews, from a year or so ago, mention how smoky the place is. That’s not a problem anymore and my experience here was fantastic. I will definitely return.

Cajun Mike’s is a great spot for delicious and cheap local foods. It’s located close to the end of Baronne Street and is a little divey but had great atmosphere. It’s a standard bar with sports memorabilia posted everywhere and a live DJ and it’s pretty lively. There menu has all the local New Orleans favorites such as po’boys, gumbo and much more. We started off with the combo appetizer which included generous portions of tasty wings, mozzarella sticks and boudin balls(not a fan). We also ordered the shrimp po’boy and the fried oysters basket. It was my first time eating oysters and they were lightly battered and golden fried. The po’boy was a bit bland, I felt like it was missing something. Overall, a great place to go day drink or recover from the night before. :)

This is a nice local bar just off Bourbon but seems like a world away. They had some decent beers on tap. While we saw lots of people ordering po boys, we weren’t that hungry so opted for the Sampler appetizer. It was a fried platter and neither surprised nor disappointed us. I definitely recommend this for a break from the typical Bourbon Street crowd.

Cajun Mike’s is a great, less touristy dive bar in the Central Business District. I say less touristy because the bar was mostly filled with tourists. However, we did get to chatting with a local. Maybe it felt less touristy because it was a really chill pub atmosphere. At least in the middle of a Thursday afternoon. The server was so nice. He answered our questions about beer and even asked us what type of music we wanted to listen to. I forget our response, but Spice Girls Wannabe played first. Per the server’s recommendation, I went with the Southern Drawl by Great Raft Brewing. I’m not a lager person, but this was a nice one. It was local and ended up being super cheap. Keeping on the local theme, I went with the Cochon de Lait. I had initially wanted a poboy with seafood but am not a fan of mayo or mustard and would have been left with a very plain sandwich. Again I took the server’s recommendation and had a tasty roast pork poboy that pickles, French fries and brown gravy(hold the mayo). To be honest, it still tasted like a regular sandwich just with good bread. Nonetheless it was enjoyable. It was a fun time in a casual environment with good bites and an inexpensive bill. It’s not necessarily the type of place to go out of your way for in NOLA, but definitely not a bad one to end up at.

«Hangry» is putting it lightly. After waking at 2:30 a.m. for a series of flights to NOLA, I was weary, becoming delirious and just needed a good meal to help me recharge for the second portion of the day. Thank goodness Cajun Mike’s was just a few blocks away from the hotel. Bar seats were available mid-afternoon, though it wasn’t empty by any means. For my first official beer of New Orleans, the bartender(Nate?) recommended a local lager. I’m usually pretty anti-lagers, but this was refreshing while also avoiding the boring and typical lager taste. Great rec! For my meal, I selected the dressed honey mustard chicken tender poboy with additions of bacon and cheddar cheese. This was a delicious decision and that sandwich was consumed so quickly. The best part? Super cheap! It was almost absurdly cheap. I believe I spent under $ 10 for my food and beer together. Fantastic… especially considering the damage I was about to inflict on my bank account. Stop in Cajun Mike’s for good food in a relaxing, divey atmosphere away from the French Quarter crowds.

I’m basing this off of food quality and service not on the fact that it’s a bar but it was all around not good. We ordered the alligator pol boy and the ouster pol boy. Both were so unbelievably salty I can’t describe it. The gumbo was thick and had a thick gritty after taste. That stuff has the consistency of motor oil. All around just gross I would never go back for anything but a vodka soda. Try if you dare

Yes it was a dive bar, but they had excellent po boys. We had the pulled pork po boy and the pressed sandwich with salami… Great!!! We almost lost hope in finding good food in New Orleans, and who would have thought a dive bar would meet and beat our food expectations. Also it is pet friendly, pure winner. Just wished we lived local this would be our regular spot.

This was such a great find! I brought five friends to New Orleans last week, and we definitely enjoyed ourselves a little TOO much on our first night in town. When I asked what everyone wanted for lunch the next day, I got a range of requests ranging from Creole food to gumbo to poboys. Naturally everyone was on a budget, so we couldn’t go too crazy, and I figured we needed some comfort food to ease everyone’s hangovers. I did a quick Unilocal search and found Cajun Mike’s just a couple of blocks from our apartment. I know Cajun Mike’s is a touristy area, but walking in felt relaxed and welcoming — unlike a lot of the touristy places in the Quarter. I didn’t have high expectations for the food — I guess I expected typical bar food? — but I was sooooo wrong. We started with an order of boudin balls — super great, highly recommended. I tried the gumbo of the day and an alligator sausage poboy, both of which were fantastic. I also got to try my friend’s cochon de lait and experienced a brief pang of regret that I hadn’t ordered it myself. Thank goodness for generous friends who share. :) I know this looks kind of like a hole in the wall, but it was a real highlight of our trip. The food was terrific, the bartender was friendly, and the atmosphere was relaxed. I would definitely go back again!

Po’boys are delicious with amazing prices. Very affordable. Had the sampler appetizer that contained mozzarella sticks, jalapeño poppers, boudin balls, and and wings. The alligator Po’boy was also delicious! Everything was great!

While the bartender/waitress did a good job of keeping our drinks filled and getting our food to us on time, she was crass, loud and obnoxious. I don’t know what task the employee who sat at the end of the bar burping had, but it was clearly not greeter. One couple left without ordering, only to be obnoxiously pursued by staff to stay and then only to be trashed after they left. I wish we would have also left, because it’s an hour of my life I will never get back. Food was okay. This is the last time I will listen to the local drunk at the streetcar stop about good places to try. I did, at least, check the reviews on Unilocal to back up what the local was saying, and since the reviews were good, I thought it might be a big hit. Quite the contrary, it’s a TOTALLOSS.

If you’re looking for tasty sandwhiches(we had the cochon poboy and muffuletta press) and good local beer on a budget, you won’t be disappointed. Highly recommended for tourists who want to stay close to the French quarter but spend less for some good. Good find.

Great neighborhood bar with good food. Seemed like mostly locals here(which is a good sign). This is NOT a fancy tourist spot. That being said, the place was clean, friendly, and cheap. I enjoyed a Cochon de Lait Poboy W/fries and a draft craft beer for about $ 11.

I came in for an order of food to take back to my hotel room, and while I was waiting for my order I saw a HUGE rat sitting in the corner just chillaxin. I’ve been in dive bars, and several places of ill repute. A rat sitting in the corner doing his thing and not being concerned about humans as they go about their business leads me to believe that he/she/it is a regular fixture. For what it’s worth that is what I experienced.

Fun neighborhood sports bar that serves above average creole food at very good prices. Located on the outskirts of CBD pretty close to Canal street, it’s a great place to watch a sports game, a beer, and a bite to eat. Mike himself was behind the bar when I ordered and he’s really proud of the food and especially the gumbo, which is his family recipe and is made fresh every morning. The Groupon I got was good for a drink and a sandwich, and there are a lot of different sandwich types and meats to choose from. Besides the po’ boys, they also have Cuban pressed sandwiches, burgers, Italian, and Muffalettas. A variety of fillings, and they come with a side of fries and onion rings. I had to order the gumbo too, which was very thick and tasty. Would come again, worth a visit for a casual meal.
