Worth the visit if you’re playing tourist! Get the frozen café au lait, sure it’s $ 5 but they have to pay rent and it’s so good!

You can’t visit the big easy without sitting down at table outside listening to jazz music with a hot chickory coffee and fluffy beignets. This place is an institution! The beignets come 3 to an order so bring a friend or take some home. Don’t forget to order a café au lait too! Good place to meet friends or read a book and enjoy the music outside.

This place has the most poor line service possible. The«sit down» line took 3 times shorter than the«to go» line. Are you serious? I waited over an hour and that’s absolutely unacceptable for a to go line. I hope others don’t waste their time waiting around because it’s absolutely not worth how poor the customer service is in the Togo line.

It’s touristy, but if you haven’t been there, you really should go. Never had a beignet? Imagine a square funnel cake and you’re in the right neighborhood. Café du Monde has really good ones, and their café au lait is the best I’ve had. Kinda pricy, and you’ll wait in line for either a seat or to order and go at peak hours, but I had no regrets! Bön appetit!

Skip the long lines. Coffee was the stuff you’d get at a gas station. Bagnets weren’t bad if a little over-fried. Longer comparison in my review of Morning Call, which you should go to instead if you have time:

Definitely a place that is only packed because everyone say it’s a place you should not miss it, and I now can say that YES you can, the service and the hygiene of this place is horrible. My husband and I sat there for almost 30 minutes until get someone to clear the table of dirty dishes and wipe it with a disgusting rag. I wanted to leave, but mu husband insist on trying the so famous beignets that later we realized weren’t all that after have it again at another place. Don’t waste your time when there’s so many there cafes that will have the exactly same thing with a lot better service and clean.

Okay, so it might be very touristy but still, there is something so great about this place. I went on a rainy Friday morning and we got a table for four right away. We didn’t even sit down before the waitress asked what we’d like. Obviously, café au lait and beignets(100% of the orders here order that so no wonder she didn’t wait to ask us). The beignets were far better than I ever imagined and the coffee was great! Cheap too. Listen, if you are going to have beignets in New Orleans, do the touristy thing and have them here. You won’t be disappointed. What my ratings mean: 1 star: Horrible. I’m annoyed I wasted my time and/or money here. 2 star: Not bad but nothing special. A decent place if you can’t find something else. I’d equate this to something like McDonald’s. 3 star: I enjoyed my experience there and would go back to try or do more things there. 4 star: I loved it and would be excited to go back. I’d also recommend it to a friend. 5 star: A real gem of a place. A must on anyone’s list.

Beignets. Open 24 hours. Cash Only. Those are the three things you should know about Café Du Monde. It’s located right at the start of the French Market and in between the church and the river. It’s really hard to miss and worth a visit. The beignets were delicious and I’m pretty sure they use a full box of powdered sugar per order. I didn’t try the coffee, but I heard that they are also known for amazing coffee. The services was quick and the beignets were delivered at record speed. I am definitely happy I stopped in for a visit and got the chance to try some authentic NOLA beignets.

Everyone saids that this is a must do in Nawlins and everyone loves it. Because of that, I think you should not miss it. Having great pastries around this world, I would have to say, it’s not on my favorite list. Although it was good, I’m not too sure about the hype surrounding it. If you come to Nawlins, you better come here, because people will be angry with you if you didn’t. Then you can tell them what I’ll telling you, it’s good, but it ain’t no bucket list. Really, it isn’t.

Yum! It was our first trip to New Orleans so we had to stop here of course! I wasn’t really hungry, but we ordered beignets anyway because duh! They were so freakin good that I almost made myself sick. I seriously couldn’t stop eating them even though I was already full. I was surprised at how inexpensive they were. Sorry coffee lovers, we didn’t try the joe!

This place, while it only receives 3⁄5 stars, is a classic MUST stop if you are in New Orleans. The amount of history in this building itself makes it worth a visit and even though they weren’t the best beignets I have ever had, I am very happy that I went. Although I will also say that I probably wouldn’t go back until I was with someone who had never been before, or i just wanted a place to chill at night. Beignets should be very delicate and fluffy but you can tell that these are produced in large amounts, and like rapid fire as they are fried a big too much, and have powered sugar thrown on top of them. No sign of the meticulous touch of a tradition French baker here. But they were good and the place is a historical landmark.

A tourist trap by day, but this place is an escape away from the craziness at night. 24 hours a day; 7 days a week; You will be able to get some delicious beignets and coffee any damn time you wish.

Love, love, LOVE Café Du Monde! If you have never been to New Orleans, you have to try this at least once. My husband and I went here twice in 24 hours on our most recent trip(after dinner on Saturday night, and then again on Sunday morning). I usually brew my coffee at home strong enough to strip paint, so I thought that the coffee was delicious, and a a perfect counterpart to the mountains of powdered sugar atop the warm, airy beignets. Do not eat in the café here unless you enjoy stifling crowds and want to wait in a ludicrously long line for a table. Instead, go to the«to-go» line in the back and take your coffee and beignets up to the Washington Artillery Park to listen to the busking musicians and drink in the view of Jackson Square.

Dirty, beignets only so-so, coffee okay. Waitress less than friendly, manager even moreso. I guess they have so much business they don’t have to worry about customer service. Also, CASHONLY. Why would a restaurant in a tourist area not accept credit cards? Makes no sense to me.

Oh, Café Du Monde, what a hot mess. PROS: — Usually fast service given the amount of people in the place at any given moment. — Really incredible and delicious beignets CONS: — Café Du Monde is so damn dirty — Tons of grifters on the hustle for change and hand-outs — The coffee is beyond nasty — I do not recommend eating anything«for here,» the plates are in BAD shape and are almost always dirty — get your stuff to go — The waiters almost always look like last weeks parolees — many of them sitting down, smoking, spitting, cussing, not giving a damn in general or just plain ignoring you — When it rains — UGH — RUN! Powdered sugar, water, filth, coffee, trash and dead cockroaches result in the floor looking like a sewer, which reminds me, do yourself a favor… don’t wear open toed shoes I will always come back to Café Du Monde, I will NEVER eat at Café Du Monde. I will stand in that little to-go line window, get my beignets and RUN.

You have not HAD a beignet until you have had one from Café du Monde, they tell me. Well, I’ll be honest with you. I’d prefer to have a nice fresh funnel cake that has been freshly made & just out of the fryer and sprinkled with powdered suger before I have another one of these gobs of batter that is lukewarm & haphazardly thrown before me. And, hands DOWN, I’d prefer a Krispy Kreme from the counter just as the fresh now sign is blinking overhead. We went here to do the touristy must-do’s. Went to the bathroom first, it was a travesty and if the employees only have that dryer to use when washing their hands, the health department needs to pay them a visit. We ordered 2 orders of beignets amongst the 3 of us. A few of us got hot chocolate(tasted like some mediocre chocolate milk with a little tad bit of heat to it), one got orange juice that seemed to be in a cup the size of a large thimble. We were told that we could sit down wherever we like. I selected a seat, the other two folks joined me. I had a napkin in my hand from drying my hands(that horrible dryer from the bathroom) that I placed on the table to dispose of. The waiter had been sitting on the row where it seems that all of them wait at until they have a customer — they doze off, talk on the phone, stare, etc. He gets up, walks up to our table. He does not say a word, he simply stands and stares at us. He reaches over and flicks my napkin off of the table, still silent. We determine that his presence means that he wants our order, we place it. He walks away, not a word. He comes back several moments later with our order, places it and simply barks out our total — say $ 13.25. I pull out a card, he barks ‘we do not take those’(there was no signage that I saw). We fish out $ 15 in cash, he snatches it and returns with the change, simply placing it on the table and walking off. Never came back to offer us more than the thimble of water or juice that we originally had. A pair of ladies sat at the table next to us, he came up to take their order. My mean & can’t speak turned into Mr. Personality who had all sorts of conversation for them. Initially, I had the change from the $ 15 sitting on the table, that was to be his change. But, umm… NAH. Slid my change right into my pocket and determined that I was not meant to go back there…

Yeah, it’s good. But quite frankly I’m tired of bringing guests there! It’s not the only place to get a beignet in Louisiana. I do recommend trying it out if you have never been before. But once is enough.

I planned a birthday trip to New Orleans JUST to go to Café Du Monde and try their beignets and coffee. After stuffing my face with their beignets, I was one happy birthday girl! The beignets are soooooooooooo good with tons and tons of powdered sugar. The place was literally covered in powdered sugar, from the floor to even the walls! I’m not much of a coffee person, but HAD to try their infamous coffee. It was not as good as I had hoped it to be. Really bitter! but I guess it counteracts the sweet beignets. The only reason why I stopped eating the beignets was because it was sooo HOT outside. There seems to be no air conditioning and just fans fanning hot air around and around. SO if you wanna try these heavenly treats, I suggest going when its a little cooler outside. They also have a little souvenir section for their coffee, beignet mix, mugs, and tshirts. Of course I stocked up on them! But making the beignets out of the mix did not do it justice… wayyy better at the restaurant! oh yea! be prepared to leave covered in powdered sugar!
