This is a newer food truck appearing around town(check their twitter feed: ). My coworkers went out last week to check out their offerings which seem to be mostly burgers and tacos. Alas the only non-meat item on the menu that day was a grilled cheese sandwich. blah. My coworkers each got a burger and raved.

A classic with a twist! I stumbled upon this food truck the last time I was in town and enjoying a few cocktails at various locations on Magazine Street. The truck itself is very basic, but in this case that wasn’t a bad thing. I was craving a burger that evening, and C Food Roam A Lot hit the mark. Their menu was a mixture of regional cuisine in street food form as well as some classic offerings(like my hamburger) with a twist. They may change their menu on occasion. The menu was displayed on a black board fixed to the truck. The burger I chose was named the Fat Tuesday. It was a tough decision too as this burger had praline bacon and another had crush pork cracklins. I suppose I had more of a sweet tooth this time, so I gave the Fat Tuesday a go. The burger was simple, yet delicious. The bun was of the standard white seedless variety. Your toppings included iceberg lettuce(not shredded, in leaf form), sliced tomato, and your choice of cheese — and of course, the praline bacon. The real star of the show was the burger. It was a thick patty and mine was cooked perfectly! The toppings really highlighted the burger and to me, that is the real key to success. As far as the praline bacon is concerned, it provided a nice sweet element that was not distracting. Honestly, I typically try to find something to complain about — Roam A Lot made it very difficult. The burger also came with a side of fries. Again, nothing fancy here. I could taste that they were fresh cut — always a good thing. They weren’t steak fries, but they did have a thicker cut. I liked that because you could taste the potato flavor. The frying style was more of a standard light fry. I certainly like the fact that they were cooked to order and were served to me hot. The total price of my burger and fries was $ 7. In my opinion, not bad for a lot of food. If I ever stumble upon the C Food Roam A Lot food truck again while I am in the area, I will definitely give it another try.
