I loved this place! Me and my best friend stayed here for New Years 2015. The staff were very friendly from the time of entry to check out. It’s in a prime location on Bourbon Street. Close enough to the night life to stumble in drunk but far enough to tune out those who are still out partying in the wee hours of the morning. I’d def pick Bön Maison again!

Awful awful awful experience. The owner is a lunatic. Stay at your own risk. I experienced this guy barreling down the stairs in his bathrobe screaming at me, a paying guest. Not sure if he was hopped up on drugs or if that was his normal persona. Either way I will never recommend this place to anyone I like and value as a friend. It was a traumatic experience & that is with all the craziness outside the gate on Bourbon St. That guy should be in a cage. This is no exaggeration, believe me I wish it were. I had just arrived via cab from the airport ready to begin a weekend of fun. Instead I witnessed a crazy exhibition inside the quaint, gated courtyard. My condolences to current & future guests.

Let me first say that my Bön Maison stay was wonderful. There was a bit of trouble in the beginning because I had to change the date of my reservation, and there was a bit of confusion with the cancellation policy. Basically what I found was that you forfeit your deposit of you cancel within 2 months of your reservation. Anyhow, all ended well, and in fact, my travel companion and I were upgraded to the two bedroom suite for our trouble. Normally, I would take a star off for the hassle of changing reservations, but the rest of the place, not to mention the value, was just so lovely. It’s located on a not-so-far end of bourbon street, and while it is quiet, it was still within hopping distance of at least five bars and walking distance of many more. The rooms were immaculately furnished and decorated and even included a kitchenette! There was also a gated courtyard with parakeets and garden seating. It is also openly gay friendly, which I appreciated.

I went there with my husband, and we had a great time. Just try getting a better deal than this on Bourbon St, not possible. The hosts are hilarious and friendly. It’s not the hilton, but it’s not $ 400 a night either. Actually — it’s way more personable than the hilton, with history, charm and character. The location is great. Our room was next to the aviary, which was a little noisy in the morning, but a pleasant kind of noisy.

I travel to New Orleans several times a year. I have stayed many times at the Bön Maison over the last five years, attracted to the location(Bourbon Street and the gay section) and the relatively reasonable rates. There has been a recent and sad decline in both the property and the management, so much so, I would not stay there again, nor can I recommend it to any of my friends. I love the general sense of decadence and decay that pervades the French Quarter– but this place is in ruins. The interiors are filthy, with an inch of dust over most everything. I had to wear shoes inside the room, otherwise my feet would be black with dirt. The cute little kitchenette has mold in the grout, and spilled food in the refrigerator. The mattress smells funny, the linens have stains, and I have found personal items from previous guests in my room. The shower head was broken, and I had to get a new one myself. The air conditioner looks and sounds like it has never been serviced, and makes more noise than a diesel engine. My neighbors’ drain backed up with raw sewerage, and they had to take showers in our place until the drain was fixed: the next day! The«maid service» is a guy who will change your towels if you ask him, but doesn’t do anything else. He was drunk by noon each day and would make passes at the guests– offering«special room service». Make sure and pay for your room in something that gives you a good record(credit card or check) because they lost my deposit once, and you never know if they are sober enough to keep track of the money. I have started staying at other places in the quarter, and have had excellent experiences with both cheaper and more expensive places. This is not the«French Quarter experience», this is just a poorly run guest house in it’s fast decline.

Love the homey feel of this quaint, gay friendly guest house. Great location in the French Quarter, locked gate to get in, right near the Clover café. unfortunatley the downfall is that they charge you a 10% service charge on cancelled reservations. Not just the three before your stay cancellation, but any reservation even two months before your stay. That can mean a loss of $ 20 for no reason, especially when you know its going to get filled because its during jazz fest! Boo.
