Bobby’s Seafood is a tiny, converted gas station & convenience store. While plain, it is neat and clean, inside and out. Their specialty seems to be raw seafood and sandwiches. I ordered the shrimp plate($ 12.95), which came with a good side salad(with premium dressing– Newman’s Own), better-than-average fries, and a bountiful portion of fried shrimp, over toast. It was well spiced and not at all greasy. This is a place to check out. They were paranoid about me taking photos. Sorry, but I needed them, for the review. RJT

Called in phone order. Shrimp and catfish poboys, fries and onion rings. Arrived 20 minutes later and all ready. Shrimp poboy was outstanding, there were so many shrimp, must have been a dozen and a half, and it was the medium version. The onion rings were to die for — Nice and crispy. This is a super great seafood location. Kudos to the kitchen crew.

Best food for the prices, combo platters/poboys or freshly made selections from the deli, in the neighborhood! Service is fast and friendly, and food is fresh. Always call in your order if you can, because the waiting and sitting area is very small. I live a few minutes down the road, and my order is always ready within 5 – 15 minutes. You can pick up local favorites from the deli section while you’re there, including stuffed veggies or meats. Not only do they provide a necessity to the neighborhood(good, cheap, poboy take-out!), they also supply boiled crawfish on select weekends. Call ahead to reserve for small or large parties if you’re hosting a boil and don’t want to clean up the mess. Their boiled crawfish are just as amazing as the poboys!

They have a great shrimp po-boy. It is the best you can get for your money. And oh my god the onion rings. Me and my boyfriend split the 12 inch po-boy and an order of onion rings for lunch. It was a perfect meal for 2 people. The O rings(because that is what they will give you) don’t even need sauce, but we did dip them in some Raisin’ Canes sauce we had in our fridge, which was awesome. Definitely will return and recommend. I will get the fried oyster po-boy next.

Local family owned seafood market that sells sandwiches and fried seafood plates. Monday thru Saturday. They sell fresh or boiled seafood. I usually buy my fresh shrimp there, 20 count $ 7.99 lately. Not the cheapest but good quality. I love their poyboys because of the bread, which is fresh crispy flakey French bread. Its funny that if you order Swiss cheese you get white American. Sort of false advertising. They aren’t the friendliest people. no small talk just take your order and give u change. Even if u ask a question they provide the info expressionless. In addition to the three small tables inside I’ve noticed now there are a couple of picnic tables in the parking lot to the left of the building. The last two times I was there I heard the owner complaining about the price of everything and his prices are never consistent. Fresh shrimp is sometimes 6.99 sometimes 7.99. There was a hand written sign the last time that said there will be a $ 2 sur charge on anything with oysters. I continue to patronize this place because the quality is consistent and they are local.

My family has been getting seafood and gumbo from Bobby’s since 1980. They have the BESTSEAFOODGUMBO in the world. Hands down. We buy the gumbo by the gallon.(Actually by the quart but we buy multiple at a time and always have some in the fridge). Whenever someone comes in from out of town we introduce them to Bobby’s gumbo and they always want to know how they can take some home. It is packed with shrimp and crab claws. A long, long time ago they actually used to put two halves of blue crap in each quart but now it is just crab meat, crab claw and shrimp. Their potato salad is awesome as well. They don’t have the best poboys in New Orleans area but they are decent. Their fried soft shell crab is probably the best they have to offer. Their boiled crawfish are great as well as their seasonal offering of fresh and boiled seafood. If you live Uptown or anywhere else in the city, do yourself a favor and make the drive out to Bobby’s for some of their gumbo and you will be sure to impress your family and guests.

I eat boiled crawfish from Bobby’s Seafood about three times a month. They are consistently seasoned well and are a nice size. The crabs are just as delicious as the crawfish. In fact, the flavor in the crabs are so good, that when eating them, I open the crabs very carefully and drink the juices from the shell! The shrimp, however, are inconsistent. There are times when the shrimp are flavorful, and other times they are bland and/or over cooked or slightly soft. Because of this, I only order boiled crawfish and crabs from them. Hands down, they are one of the best places to go for boiled crawfish and crabs. And on Saturdays, they close around 2, but the crawfish is usually gone well before then… so get there early!

My family has been coming here for years. It is a great place to get fresh Louisiana seafood. I would describe it as a fresh seafood market/poboy shop. My only complaint is that they do not stay open late so its tough to get there after work on the weekdays, but its a family run joint so thats par for the course. They have more than just poboys and fried seafood they also have great prepared food like turtle soup, gumbo, and seafood stuffed bell peppers. They also sell the best remoulade sauce that they buy from a local vendor and it comes in a mason jar. Take that and some of their boiled shrimp and I’m good. Bobby’s is my go to place when I’m in the mood for some awesome seafood.

There is a saying, «don’t judge a book by it’s cover.» In the case of Bobby’s, the saying holds true. Great food at a great price. Based on the location and appearance, you would not think much about Bobby’s. However, contrary to its location(on Jefferson Highway), appearance, a refurbished gas station with little parking and seating inside, the food is great! The essence of New Orleans food, boiled crawfish is as my good friend who lives close by, one of the best. Bobby’s does a great job of «purging» the crawfish of their impurities resulting in great tasting crawfish. They are boiled just right — not to spicy with enough flavor to enhance its flavor that goes oh so well with Abita(local brew). In addition to the crawfish, they also serve the usual fare: po boys, fried catfish, oysters, shrimp, etc. Others have commented upon Bobby’s other fares. However, for me, the main thing to eat/take out is it’s boiled crawfish. I liked it so much that I ordered ten pounds of it to bring back home with me!

When we want fresh seafood, Bobby’s Seafood is the place we go in the River Ridge /Harahan area. It’s more than just a seafood store(one side offers a great seasonal selection of seafood) as there is a kitchen that serves sandwiches and platters. Restaurant may be pushing the envelope. Yes, you can dine in, if sitting on stools at one of the three high top tables qualifies. However, it’s not for dreams of white tablecloth service that you go to Bobby’s. It’s for the fresh seafood, boiled crabs, and great po-boys. The vast majority of their business is on a carryout basis. Every now and then, when I’m in the mood, I don’t mind eating a sandwich and spend my lunchtime watching the people come and go. The line moves relatively quick so there is no long wait for the customers. They offer a variety of po-boys boy sandwiches(not just seafood), and some platters to go. I recommend their shrimp po-boy, but then I’m very partial to well made fried shrimp po-boys boys. Definitely one of the better sandwiches in the city. There are other days when I’m more in the mood for some meat and I’ll have to make a decision between on the three different sausages po-boys. Their roast beef are also good.

Great local seafood at reasonable prices. My family has been getting our seafood on a reg basis here since the early 90’s and they have stayed consistent. Theres only 3 high top tables to dine in so many take orders to go. They also sell live seafood. Pretty nice size menu with plenty non seafood choices as well. Ask for extra cocktail or tartar sauce because the containers are minuscule. They open early in the morning, I have no idea why(who eats a poboy for breakfast), and they close fairly early. If there is a line out the door, dont fret, it moves quickly.

Interesting that everyone is reviewing Bobby’s as a sammich joint. I’ve only ever used them as a fishmonger.(Why, yes, I do like saying fishmonger, why do you ask?) My family has ordered everything from pre-boiled shrimp to live crawfish to fresh oysters. The seafood is always first rate. C’mon they have to be good since they’re housed in a former gas station.

We had heard good things about Bobby’s. Last Saturday we were over in River Ridge and finally got to try them for ourselves. On one side of the store they offer a good variety of fresh seafood and fish related products for purchase. On the other side of the place is the kitchen. They have a counter and 3 tables for dining in. We selected 3 different po boys to try and an order of onion rings. Our order did not take too long and we ate there. The onion rings were the best I’ve ever had. They were fresh made with really flavorful spices in the breading. Out of the po boys we tried, I recommend the shrimp. I’m not a fan of bbq beef, but theirs was pretty good. The sauce was excellent and it was VERY messy!(Which is the sign of a good one, right… lol…) Luckily, each table was equipped with a roll of paper towels and antibacterial hand gel. I would definitely go back!

Hands down, best po-boy in NOLA, or at least Harahan/River Ridge. Whenever I am back home a stop at Bobby’s is a must. Oyster or Shrimp, dressed with a root beer and I am good.
