Avalon Nails Spa

I don’t normally write reviews, but I will make an exception for this nail salon. This is absolutely the worst nail salon that I have ever been to. I had my nails done today at 11 am, a manicure with OPI infinite polish, which based on my research is supposed to dry faster and last longer than normal polish. Dry faster is wrong. It didn’t even dry as fast as normal polish. Nope. My nail technician could not find a suitable top coat to use, as all had been mostly dried to a thick goop. So of course she added polish thinner to the top coat, coated my then gorgeous looking nails, and set me off to dry. She didn’t take a brush with nail polish remover to my cuticles to clean them up like I’ve had done at probably every other nail salon I’ve ever been to in my 26 years of existence. Nope, just set me under the nail fan to dry. I sat there drying for 20 minutes, nails still weren’t dry but no one has time to sit there all day, at least I don’t. And guess what? Had I even had all day to sit there, that wouldn’t even make a difference. As I sit here, the day of, at 8:25 pm, MY NAILS STILL HAVE NOT DRIED TO A HARD FINISH. If I hit something hard, they sent immediately. Is this a sick joke? I paid an extra $ 3– $ 18 total — to have a manicure that my dog could probably have done a better job at. Never again. If I could give negative stars I would give 100.

Very pro n clean. I got my special pedicure so great. The girl took over an hour to finnish. Her name is Chi. They also do alteration in the back of salon. They did bridal dress for my best gf so amazing. Its a good place to come

I am a regular gel-​mani/​pedicure girl. 2x a month min.
I usually frequent my spots on the northshore where I live but when I’m in the city I go with a friend and we try random salons.
We both got very hurried treatment. My gel chipped on 2 nails the next day, so did hers! Then today, day 3 the entire top of the nail just peeled right off with all the layers of my natural nail included!
The file job was absolutely horrible. Jagged edges on so many nails!
They had 2 women working on us, 2 people in Pedi chairs waiting and 3 people getting sat down for a manicure. No one was told that they were up for an hour wait so these 2 women could catch up.
STAY AWAY FROM THIS CRAPPY SALON. I may say worst in the country and I’ve been to around 70+!

Expensive, rude, and slightly dirty. I give them a second star because the service was quick, but I likely will not be back. Thats a shame, because I’ve been desperately trying to find a good nail place in New Orleans. Sigh…

The staff was friendly but I do not care how big of a rush I’m in or if my regular salon is closed I will never go back for my mani/​pedi. They are not clean! They used a dirty hot towel on me during my mani (at first I thought it was just dingy but it left that old dirty towel smell on my hands and arms). I wasn’t paying attention and didn’t realize until I looked over at my friend who was also getting a pedi that they were not taking their tools from sterile plastic or an autoclave. The tools they used on me went right back in the little plastic drawer after a half ass rinse in the same water they soaked my feet.
This was a bad experience and I’m praying I don’t get an infection from the open cuts they left after a poor removal of my cuticles on baby toes… OUCH!

It saddens me not to give this place a 5-​star rating because most of the people here are great. They’re personable, do a great job, and fix mess-​ups even when they’re your fault. My best friend and I would go here about once a month or so even when we were broke because it was such a fun, relaxing experience with a great atmosphere. Even when they raised their prices by $ 5, we thought it was well worth it. There was always one guy that did a subpar job. Whenever he did my nails, he took half the time on me than whoever was doing my friend’s nails. Then I got him a few times in a row. He was surly and barely spoke to me, and seemed to want to get it over with as soon as possible, contrasting dramatically with everyone else in the shop who were so nice. After a few times of this, I started to feel ripped off. Then we went in and he jammed one of those metal things in the corner of my toe so hard that I got an infection. It was swollen and full of pus for a few days. Not only that, he messed up a nail putting my flip flop on, then got pissed when I asked (nicely!) for him to fix it. It sucks because now I can’t got back.
So in summary, most of the people here are great, but beware the younger skinny guy with the longish floppy hair. If you have more balls than me, you won’t have a problem because you can just ask for someone else. So if you are assertive 5 stars. If not so much, 1 star.

Nails in Nola!
Perusing my friends new neighborhood, we stumbled upon a nail spot. We looked down, looked at each other, and instantly knew what each other was thinking.
Being nail virgins to this spot we weren’t sure what we were in for… my Californian snobiness was in full effect. However, what a GEM this placed turned out to be.
Thankfully for us, there were no other customers. I got the best and longest leg and foot massage I could have asked for! Also, the massage chairs were working at full capacity and were kneading some serious knots out of our backs.
They had a great selection of polishes. All brand and colors to choose from, they don’t skimp on anything around here, which I appreciate tons! Everything was sterile, because they took the tools out of the bag thingy they take from the sterilizer machine… like at the dentist.
They were friendly and welcoming for walk-​ins! $ 25 for a pedi, which is a little on the pricey-​er side, but when on vacation… those extra $ 5 don’t really matter!

Ended up here after all my usual place had a long wait; and it had been recommended by a non Unilocaly friend. The strip mall is a bit sketch, but the staff was really nice and quick! Plus it’s a good bit cheaper than my usual spot.
Chairs and décor could use a bit of freshening, but it all looks clean.

This place told me they could do a mani pedi and I waited for 40 minutes, my nails completely chipped off after 2 days and I got an infection on my toe where they cut my skin by accident! Gross don’t go.
