This is a great venue, in a location that has been improving over the last couple of years. The guy’s work has had their holiday party here the last couple of years, and let me tell you, there has been an improvement in the general area in the way of road improvement, and restaurants coming in the area. Tonight in the empty lot across the way, there was a musical setup and a festival of sorts going on in the area. The Ashe Center on one side has a small setup for displays of the history. The venue on the other side is like an unfinished warehouse that is more useful than industrial. The high ceilings are good for music. I have had fun at both of the events that I have been to here. As has been mentioned, there is only one unisex restroom and a port-o-let. The large parking lot next door can fit about 25 – 30 cars, and there is street parking. I think that this is a great venue, and has endless possibilities. It is also easily accessible for handicapped people.

A gem of New Orleans. From Unilocal Events to theater to performance art, and training, this place is a wonderful community center. There’s a nice and large parking lot next door and you can grab a bite to eat before or after your event at one of the several nearby restaurants. There’s only one bathroom, unless you count the weirdly placed port-o-let. The A/C turns on and off(loudly), which is annoying.

This place is nice and simple. Been here a few times for special events, attracts a great crowd. On an up and coming street that is fun to visit. Great to see a place working hard for a cause.

I was here for a community event and it’s a lovely large space with good a/c on a really hot summer day. It is very warehouse-y. But doesn’t feel industrial, if that makes sense. The room was packed the evening I was there so I didn’t get a better sense of things. But I do know it’s a HUGE improvement of the nothingness that used to embody this block.

The YLC often uses this space for their general membership meetings, particularly the annual(or bi-annual, or whatever) project fair. That’s exactly what took place at Ashe tonight, and therefore I had a chance to stop in and check it out again. It’s a large, warehouse-feeling space with concrete floors, and they usually divide it into two halves. I talked to a woman who works there and learned that there’s a boutique somewhere(it was on the other side of the divider) that’s open from 10 – 6, and they often rent out the space for events. Arguably not the best neighborhood, but certainly a viable option for events, should you be in the process of finding a venue for your upcoming party. Since I gave them my business card, I’m apparently going to start getting«e-blasts» so will be up to date on what’s going on at Ashe. If there’s anything interesting, I’ll certainly post it on the events page. Curious to find out what else goes on here. We shall see…
