Cute little shotgun, order at the counter café. You’ll be in line w/tourists & locals alike. The shop is lined w/pretty photos of NOLA. See pix. They serve perfect eggs & buttery croissants. But note the line can be long & slow although the staff are very nice. Hubby liked his biscuit w/bacon & egg and his lemon filled pastry. They were OUT of jelly by 10:15. My chocolate filled croissant did not look the many I’ve had abroad, but it was pretty. It was also dry. Thank god I discovered they have a microwave. Nice, if warmed.

I enjoy this little café and I definitely consider it my alternative to Café du Monde when their lines are cutting through half of the french quarter. The atmosphere of the shop is pretty nice– though half the time I’ve been, the bathroom’s been out of order(people be blowing up the toilet like that?). They also have a little outdoor seating space in the little alley nook next to the building. All the pastries I’ve had with my best friend here have been really, really good~ the chocolate croissant you could tell was made by really good chocolate~ not like Hershey or something. I’ve personally had their sticky pecan roll and xxxx and definitely recommend along with the chocolate croissant. ~~~~~~~~~ Service can be pretty slow, especially on days where the line is long. I don’t think they’re –terribly– shortstaffed, but imo they should have two baristas instead of just one. I think that was really the main holdup, waiting for the barista to make drinks. The guy we kept having in particular(thin build, white dude with shortish dark hair, usually wore dark colors) was a bit of an asshole. Don’t get me wrong, he could turn out some mean vanilla chai(was drinking this religiously during my stay), his attitude was a different story and he would often say some really sarcastic shit to questions that were really not necessary, and he’d always take his sweet, slow time making everything. We popped in here maybe 3 – 4 times during our Spring Break and we always caught him saying something slick to us or other customers– he was honestly about to get cursed out. When I return to NOLA I’ll definitely be back, but hopefully there will be change in staff to make my experience more pleasing.

Café with breakfast sandwiches and great coffee. Very small so if you have a group not recommended. Get here early, they ran out of several items by 10.

Nice stop for a quick bite breakfast & au lait. The food was served quick & clean. Nice little patio in between the annex & a neighboring space.

All around good but nothing that left me wowed(compared to Antoine’s restaurant where I still have flashbacks to my meal). The photos on display were poorly mounted and warped which almost led to a «cheap» feel. The friendly staff who loved sharing with us their favorite pastries bumped my rating up to a 4.

I have been here several times over the years. It is a good coffee stop in the French Quarter. I was going to an early, elevenses tea at Salon by Sucre not so far away and was in the Quarter 40 minutes early and needed a place to hang out. I remembered Antoine’s Annex and went there. I got a really excellent café au lait. I also got a savory potato pastry which was delicious. I probably shouldn’t have done that, considering where I was going but, oh well. I’ll deal with the scale later. The staff were really nice. Recommended.

Fantastic iced coffee. A little courtyard to enjoy our coffee, tea, and salads. The line was a bit slow, but everything was pretty good. The restroom seemed to be a popular destination for people off the street. There were tables inside if you want to stay out of the sun.

Good location — right on Royal. I got in there mid-Sunday morning, and had no wait at all. Grabbed a quick coffee and a cherry danish. Both were fine, nothing earth-shattering, but no issues either. The place was incredibly clean from restaurants to seats to exterior — they take good care of this little place. The staff was friendly, and accommodating. Definitely nice place to sit & people watch. Overall it was«fine».

The French Quarter is brimming with restaurants, but surprisingly not AS many coffee shops as you would think. The interior of this quaint little coffee shop is pleasant. It’s not necessarily where a med student would pour over textbooks all day or where I’d post up for a day of working, but I think this is a great little spot to grab a coffee over a meeting or enjoy one of the local print publications over a pastry. The staff was pleasant and my mocha was good and made in a timely fashion. It was a bit chilly in here, so I’d bring a sweater if you are planning to stick around. Next time I may see if there are any more unique options to try. If you have the time as a local, bring a book and enjoy a coffee in the Quarter on Royal!

Five stars because they ran out of almond croissants(the woman who I let order before me got the last 1 — dangit!!!) and offered me any free pastry I wished. If you insist!!! I got a delicious savory muffin-type creation with potatoes, spinach and bechamel, it was unique and decadent and wonderful. I also had a coffee and brought a croissant home for later. This is a good spot for a good cup of joe and people watching. Always on the lookout for a quality café and this is one not to miss! Centrally located and very quaint.

This appeared to be a nice little shop on Royal Street with reasonably priced pastries and drinks. The service left MUCH to be desired. When we arrived there was a couple in front of us already waiting and three people working. Two of those people were counting the till and their money and the other just wondering around. We waited for some time for the money counting to be over and be served. The King Cake pastry could have been much better.

Out of biscuits by 10am and only 1 croissant left on a Sunday morning? The croissant texture was soft and reminded me of Costco croissants. The blueberry muffin and poppyseed muffin weren’t bad — they weren’t overly sweet and had a good texture on the muffin tops. This was the only place in the area that had pastries in the morning.

The service was great but I was disappointed with my frozen coffee. There was lots of ice and not a lot of flavor. I would recommend Dee’s in the area.

A great place to stop for lunch while rambling along Royal St. Staff is friendly and quick moving. Ordered a ham & feta panini and it came with Zapp’s voodoo chips. Fun!

After reading other reviews, I feel a little satisfied that I wasn’t just pre-caffeine grumpy on the morning of our recent visit. We wanted a quick, light low maintenance breakfast and some good coffee. We arrived at 10am. Their sign says they serve breakfast until 10:30. Grumpy Pants register boy snapped his fingers at my mom repeatedly to get her attention to pay for the coffee. He then told us they were out of everything and not serving breakfast anymore. OK. If I had a decent amount of caffeine in my system I would have had it out with this jerk. I was a bit stunned at how rude he was. My café au lait was fine. By the looks of the place I would guess the breakfast food that didn’t exist would have been nothing special too. If Antoine’s wants their name to not be dragged through the mud they need to have a reality check with their staff. I did have a nice lunch at Antoine’s later that day and will be rating that experience much higher. The Annex ticked me off.

If you just need to sit, have a very nice cup of coffee and a pastry and don’t feel like waiting on line outdoors at Café du Monde or Café Beignet, this place will get the job done and more, and that more is air conditioning!!! Nice cozy Euro Café style and nicer people to go with!

Hate to write a negative review but you can do just so much better. Ok if you need to duck in out of the rain or have to pee really badly(like me) and need a coffee any way. But I don’t recommend it as your destination. It’s pretty clean today but service is aloof. Capp is small. Almond croissant is more like a brioche in the shape if a big puffy croissant with almond paste piped in– so dry the filling fell out in a little cylinder. I mean it tastes ok, but. And no courtyard and it’s hot in here. I will say one nice thing, there are complimentary feminine protection products in the restroom and that’s a nice touch. Sorry. Just expect more from the name, ya know…

Antoine is very well known as it’s been family owned for several generations serving Creole cuisine. The annex is an offshoot just around the corner. More like a coffee shop. No biggie. We stopped in for a snack as we didn’t plan on dining at their fine dining restaurant. Our friends wanted a taste of Antoine’s. Pastries, sandwiches, ice cream, etc. Nothing Creole or fancy offerings here.

MYFAVORITECAFÉSPACE in the Quarter: the embodiment of Vieux Carré style; INDIFFERENTSERVICE: the barista was somewhat glum, the manager(?) gruff; PRICEY: the small, miserly ham and swiss panini is over $ 0.80 cents a bite! As a child I was mesmerized and grew to love the restaurant dining rooms of the French Quarter. The quintessential style always incorporates small-tiled floors, large french doors over looking a banquette and crowded bistro tables. These combined ingredients create a festive, loud and raucous atmosphere. Galatoire’s, Arnaud’s and even Desire Café are great examples. But for me the Annex is the most appealing. It’s bright, beautifully designed and a perfect spot to read the T-P. My biggest issue is that the food is over-priced. A 12 bite panini with just a single layer of ham and swiss is $ 10 after tax, or 83 cents a bite! That’s more than a newspaper. Also, I don’t quite feel welcome there, and I hate having to wait for a barista to finish texting before he takes my order! The pastries are very good however, locally sourced from the top bakeries. BETTERFQCAFÉS: Mister Gregory’s, Little Vic’s, Merchant, Spitfire, Café Beignet, Café Conti, Soulé(its sister restaurant), Fleur De Lis, Croissant D’Or.
