I found Dr. Zouak through my insurer’s website and didn’t do enough research on my own to make sure this was the best option for me. After several sessions, I can say definitely this is NOT a place I would choose again. I have a lot of dentist anxiety because of prior dentists who botched basic procedures, were physically painful during visits, rushed through procedures for their own self interest and showed little concern for their patients. At first during my initial checkup, Dr. Zouak was sympathetic and took some care and was explaining what was going on. However during the 2-sessions of deep cleanings it quickly faded and everything became very rushed. The office goal felt like it was to get as many people in and out of the chair each day: clients were just walking piggy banks and they needed to turn them around as fast as possible. My followup to replace an old filling that looked to be bad really drove me away from his practice. I had gone in for what was supposed to be a small procedure, replacing a bad filling. Before I knew it he was talking about my tooth now needing a root canal and him prepping it for just that. No discussion about why it was necessary now, no talk about whether I could even take the time to get it done then, nothing. I was leaving for a business trip the following week and had to walk around with a fragile temporary cap on my tooth. After he prepped the tooth he set up an appointment with his wife to do the root canal. This made the whole procedure even more questionable. I drew the line there and declined his wife’s services(who is NOT an endodontist). I found a licensed endodontist(Dr. Karen Gear) who was much more caring and had amazing reviews. Dr. Zouak’s office also is very antiquated. Not every practice can afford the most high tech equipment but I was holding my own x-ray plates against my teeth because the doctor refuses to update his practice. I had to come back for multiple visits because the x-rays had to go out and be developed(rather than digital x-rays that are instant). He would look at the x-rays squinting into the office florescent lighting rather than get a proper light table. It just smacks of half-assedness. Take some pride in your work. Update your office. Get a computer. Something. I will definitely NOT go back to Dr. Zouak. Actually I’m going back to get my records to send to my new dentist. Then that’s it.
