Yuki is a great value for excellent sushi but only during lunch time. One of the greatest delivery meals one can order on the Upper West Side when carving something aside from the pizza/burger/wings. Portions are generous and the sushi is very fresh. However, prices spike after lunch.

Weird — lot of bad press lately — Yuki circa early 2009 was as good as it gets in manhattan. If this place hasn’t take an unexpected turn for the worst, it is(or was?) a must for Sushi lovers island side.

This is my neighborhood sushi place but I admit it is not that great. Good service and usually pretty fresh sushi. The big draw is the cheaper prices. The sashimi is decent and mostly classic rolls like dragon roll and spicy tuna roll.

INAUTHENTIC!!! If you liked this place you are most definitely not Japanese. Chinese people run this place and they’re not even trying to be authentic at all. Whatever I’m eating is definitely not an oyakodon, but some Chinese stir-fry drizzles on top of fried chicken and rice. I’m not kidding there’s even celery in here. Super disappointing, F.

My first visit. There will not be another. I was dismayed to see the sushi case in chaotic disorder, plastic tubs of pre-cut sashimi sitting on top of the tamago. …a first clue… I ordered a nice saki from the good-sized list, but what arrived was a sake made at the same brewery, but of a completely different grade. The waitress passed it off as a menu typo. I told her that based on the listed price, she was giving me the wrong bottle. She promised to reduce the price(…as it turned out, by a whole dollar.) The sashimi was mediocre, no better than that. The nadir of the experience was my first bite into the spicy tuna hand roll. It was just old fish, on the edge of spoiling. I had to spit the vile mix into my napkin and flee(after paying the check of course).

A strange comedy of errors that started off amazing and ended with some confusion. The evening started with a friendly hostess and warm towels to relax and feel very first class with. The waiter was prompt and friendly, took our drink orders and returned quickly with the drinks for our food order. The atmosphere was laid back, comfortable and yet very tailored looking. When our plate of fresh fish goodness arrived, it only had three of the four rolls we had ordered on it. We assumed the fourth was coming any minute, as most sushi places seem to deliver the rolls as they are made– so we thought nothing of it. As we finished the last of our amazingly tasty rolls, however, we realized the other roll was not coming… and neither was our waiter. He finally arrived at our table a bit later to start taking the dishes we had so meticulously ravaged and proceeded to try and take our half full bowl of edamame with him(we politely encouraged him to leave it after some persuading). But, moments later, a bus boy came by and instead of dumping the empty edamame, he dumped the full. The waiter returned to tell us he had forgotten to submit the fourth roll order, which we were fine with, but getting the check took another struggle with mints falling on the floor and waiting… Overall, I enjoyed the food, but was wholly confused by the gradual yet steady decline in service as the evening went on. I am going to give them the benefit of the doubt, however, and assume it was just a busy Sunday evening. Right… that’s what we will assume since the food was too delicious to not give them another chance.

weak. skip it. tried it because Unilocalers seemed to like it. mistake. hamachi was good, but the salmon was funky. i mentioned, and nothing was done. «cashier already left». precut sushi always skeezes me out — that is not what fresh means. spend your money and time elsewhere.

Decent neighborhood Japanese. Not worth a trip from outside a mile’s radius but solid food, and little expensive for the portions. I usually go with a sashimi entrée which includes fresh and tasty fish, including the favorite tuna, salmon and yellowtail usually, and white«tuna» and mackerel occasionally(presumably when it’s fresh/good). Only real complaint is the portions, but this is a nice, elegant place. Get some appetizers and enjoy the tea.

i don’t know what this ‘sushi’ is, but a lunchtime delivery of a chicken teriyaki bento box hit the spot. for a little over $ 10 with tip, i got well-cooked white-meat chicken in a great sauce over broccoli. a fine miso soup. a tasty, respectable salad with that orange miso ginger dressing that always makes me question why anyone in asia would eat anything else(if indeed they use that dressing out there). a mediocre spring roll. a good california roll. and fluffy rice with some soy sauce. nice deal.

Maybe we were here on an off day, but the sashimi was just not very good. The fish had been sitting out a little too long, and the servings weren’t very generous. The bento box and pork katsu were both sufficient though. The fried tofu was okay, but not great either. They did split the check six ways without even a little trouble, and that counts for something.

They have fun, different rolls and always great quality! I work in the area and they have a super lunch special too. We call it «Yucky», but it certainly is not!

I often eat here when visiting my sister on the upper west side and it is always just perfect. My favorite is the Ohyama Roll: crunchy spicy salmon avocado with tuna, ikura on the top. But to be honest I have eaten here so many times over the last year and tried just about it all– never a bad meal. like jane said below– on the upper west side, yuki sushi is a no brainer.

Really enjoyed my dinner here on Saturday evening. Their Bento Box is a well-priced option that runs ~$ 18 and includes tasty appetizers along with sushi & entrée options. The atmosphere in the restaurant is relaxed, with fast sushi magicians and contentious staff. They also, surprising for the size of the restaurant, have an immense sake menu so you can pick your poison out of almost 40 options. Yuki Sushi is basically a no-brainer on the upper west!

Yuki offers excellent, fresh sushi with some creative options for those who are looking for more than the usual Rainbow or Dragon roll. Service is quick and efficient — not too many warm fuzzies, but pleasant. The atmosphere nicely straddles casual drop-in date night, so everyone should be happy. I’m looking forward to adding this gem to my growing collection of delivery menus!

Amazing selection and always fresh. Super fast delivery(always gets to me in 15 – 20 minutes from ordering) and they have a ton of very different but delicious sushi rolls. I swear by the Yanagi roll – yum! Prices are super reasonable — I heart Yuki!

Consistently order from here off Seamless. Delivery is bit unpredictable, sometimes gets to my place at 73rd(20 blocks south) in 15 minutes, sometimes 45. Unusually the delivery guy told me my place was ‘too far’ and I should stop ordering from them, though on the phone they sound happy to deliver to my place? Don’t know what’s going on there. Food is solid. Sushi & sashimi entrée specials are more than enough for one person, very filling, which is rare for a sushi restaurant from my experience. Hand rolls and individual rolls are nothing special, exactly what you expect and good-sized. Fish is fresh and tasty, tender and right temperature. Have not been disappointed. Only negative would be that some of their entrees are very repetitive, I think once I ordered one of the special entrees and it was just a plate of tuna and salmon sashimi — and that was a Chef’s Special of some sort? Overall solid food, nothing spectacular. Deserving of 4 stars. Good for the area.

I’ve been meaning to meet up with my old coworker and his new(well, they’ve been married for months, but I haven’t seen them in ages) wife; I remembered that his wife had mentioned her favorite sushi restaurant on the upper west side, and I was dying to try it, so we met up there around 1930 during a weeknight evening. The place was pretty hopping, but I had no problem with getting a table for us when I walked in the door without a wait. The service was prompt, and I put in an order for a hot sake to warm up from the bitter cold winds of Manhattan. My friend and his companion were a couple minutes away, so I perused the menu to decide what I wanted, then conversed briefly with the girls at the cash registered, who I overheard speaking in Mandarin. Who knew that most of the Japanese joints in the city are run by Chinese folks?! Apparently it’s more lucrative than Chinese food — fascinating. I snuck them my credit card, because I had every intention of covering the meal as a late-wedding celebratory dinner and they were totally cool about it. After my friends rolled in and I was happily sipping away at my sake, we ordered some vegetable spring rolls and edamame to start before figuring out our orders. The soy beans were fine — pretty standard fare at any Japanese food joint, the spring rolls were very good, as well. They were light and tightly rolled in a thin rice wrapper, served with some sweet dipping sauce. Not long after, with time somewhat distorted by good conversation and sake, our entrees arrived. I had gotten a rainbow roll, spider roll, a piece of unagi nigiri, and mackerel. My friend ordered a salmon fillet, and his wife got a number of rolls — California, tuna, possibly something else. The presentation on all of our dishes was beautiful, with some of the most artistic garnish I’ve seen in a long while. My rolls were gorgeously put together, the rainbow roll sprinkled with just a little dusting of bright red roe; the soft-shelled crap of my spider roll reached out of the seaweed in defiance of being sliced up and served for dinner. Bonus points for superb plating. Then I dug into the food in front of me, and it was like an explosion of happiness in my mouth. The fish in my rainbow roll was amazingly fresh and sweet. The avocado was perfectly creamy. Even the shrimp(which I typically don’t enjoy as much as sushi fish) was tender and chewy — not stringy and tough as I generally expect it to be. The spider roll was pleasantly crunchy, providing an excellent foil against the smoothness of the rainbow roll. The unagi was done just right — melting in my mouth into delicious eel-y pleasure. Of everything, only the mackerel I thought was less-than-amazing. Given, mackerel in general is a challenging fish to do well in sushi, and it wasn’t bad — it just wasn’t quite the same quality as everything else on my plate. On the whole, it was a superb meal, and easily one of the best sushi places I’ve ever been to. To top it off, the bill came out to only $ 100 even, including tax and tip. For three people, with all of us having our fills, and at the superb level of quality for sushi fare, I have absolutely no qualms about making another trip to Yuki — even if it’s a little away from the heart of the city.

I was enjoying a «quiet night in» with a Yuki regular and we had two rolls, four pieces, and a miso-eggplant app delivered. Have to say, the hot miso-soaked eggplant was a winner — never had anything quite like it before. The rolls and the sushi, on the other hand, a mixed bag. Scored very highly for texture — crisp tempura, sticky rice, juicy roe, fresh greens — all making a delight for the tongue. So sad, the flavor was just«ehh.» Not freshly fishy, not really spicy, kind of dull and just not a «wow» experience. My regular said it was an off night. Perhaps I’ll get to try it again.

A nice neighborhood Japanese restaurant. The seaweed salad is good as are the sushi specials. In the warm weather it turns partially open air.
