My favorite truck in mid-town east! Food trucks are getting more and more expensive nowadays, so I’m delighted to find this one in reasonable price-range. I loved their teriyaki chicken with spicy mayo. It’s tender and marinated well, and the spicy mayo complemented the sweetness in chicken. Yum.,

I usually don’t like to eat from the small carts on the corner but I had Korean BBQ in BK a few weeks ago and have been craving it since. Yogi is fast and good. I had the Beef and fried rice. YUMMY! I will be back for sure * especially since is right downstairs from my office)

This appeared just recently and I always pass it on my way to my internship and when I go out to buy lunch. There isn’t really that many places to grab a bite in that location since it’s between 42 St and 51 St, so it didn’t take that long for me to try them out. As usual, there was a line, but the wait wasn’t that long. The guy was really friendly when he asked what I wanted and even made suggestions. I ordered that chicken gyro after setting what someone else had ordered. It was really good, better than I expected. A lot of food carts tend to overcook their meat, but the chicken was well-cooked and tender. The pita was a bit too thick for me however, meaning that there was a lot of bread. But the taste and the service(as much as you can get from a food cart ofc), was pretty good. I’ll definitely go there again for lunch. A bonus is that it’s easy on the wallet too!

The nomadic nature of today’s mobile food trucks have left me hanging one too many times. Showing up at the specified location hungry and finding an empty parking spot can be disheartening. Case in point, Kimchi Taco Truck used to be in my area two times a week. Now I’ve discovered that they changed their Monday location and will only be close by on Friday. So what am I supposed to do the other 4 days of the week if I’ve got a hankering for Korean tacos??? Yogi Korean Grill to the rescue, swooping in to save the day. Is that too dramatic? I’m sorry… I love food! Comparisons between Yogi and Kimchi are unavoidable for me. The good thing is that they both do what they do, well. I would say that Yogi is definitely more straight-forward with their menu serving up more traditional Korean meats and ingredients. Other than the tortilla and a couple of condiments, there is no ‘fusion’ as you would see at kimchi. No kimchi infused beans or wonton chips or multigrain rice. Just a standard preparation with a couple of bells and whistles that still tastes damn good. In my opinion there is definitely more value at Yogi with the larger portion sizes. My Bulgogi rice plate was generous and filling. The tortillas are also bigger allowing for more of the good stuff. As far as taste, the pork and beef are very good. His sauces add without taking away from the traditional Korean seasoning and marinade. The orange spicy mayo sauce is excellent, good level of spice without being overwhelming. He has a white sauce that I can’t quite place. I guess I should ask what things are made of before I eat them ;-) The white sauce has kind of a muted ranch dressing taste. They use it on the side salad but you can also put on your meat. I tried both on the rice plate, but just the orange on the taco. Service was good. The guy in the cart is extremely friendly and I could tell that he pays close attention to his ingredients. I watched him meticulously arrange lettuce for my salad. I guess the best compliment I can give them is that I discovered the cart on Wednesday and have already visited two times this week, possibly a third today ;-) Glad I can count on them to be there Monday-Friday.
