This place is a hidden gem. Totally lived up to it’s amazing reviews. Croissants are essential, you must try the chocolate one of course. Such a cute atmosphere and great, friendly staff. Check it out before it gets too popular and busy! And don’t leave without trying the mac & cheese! Insane!

I am so sad to learn that this place have closed. I use to live on the upper east side and would come here for weekend brunches with my friends. I would always get a chocolate croissant with anything I order. I’ve done dinner here before as well. My favorite is their brunch. I love their egg benedicts and this croissant sandwich with brie and honey ham too. So good! I wish they were still open. I was hoping to go back soon too. Sad face

Amazing place for breakfast and brunch. Croissants are always fresh and delicious. The services is willing to help to explain any question on the menu. Usually I go there for the Eggs Benedict there are delicious. The place is small and comfy.

Really great place that I went to for brunch. Small place were able to find a seat without reservation(although it was early morning on a Saturday). Great coffee. Limited(most featured items are the crepes) but amazing food. Omelets & baked good goods are really nice as well. Decent fulfilling servings. Would definitely be going here again when am in the area. Only reason it gets –0.5 star is bcz the day I went their credit card machine wasn’t working(which they had posted on the board) but still considering its NYC that shouldn’t happen. The service was nice but they had limited number of servers and I could tell they were stretched keeping up with all the orders/request. Although that could be bcz I was there early morning and the staff increases for rush hours. So truly 4.5 but rounding down bcz of varying levels of service.

The first and only B restaurant I will probably ever visit. The food was delicious but the service was terribly slow. I enjoyed my veggie baguette and my fiancé loved his crêpe.

Small restaurant, nothing fancy. Service was good. I had the Le Parisien Crêpe Maison and it was good. I guess i’m use to sweet crepes and I was told they can make that too. I little pricey.

Yo In Yo Out is a very small restaurant that has about 5 tables with additional seating by the bar that can seat another 10(maybe). Although it is located in an area that doesn’t seem like it would contain many nice restaurants, it is a rather nice intimate spot that is very quiet. If you go a few blocks further down in the 90s, that’s where the action is, but in this area there actually isn’t much. As for the food, it was fantastic! I had a huge Cobb salad as an appetizer. The dish is mainly served as an entrée, but I elected to get it as an appetizer… because that’s how I roll :) My entrée was the Risotto«De La Mar» and that was excellent! The risotto was not too bulky, stirred really well and the amount of lobster mixed in was very generous. The entrée was extremely filling. Overall it’s a very nice, intimate, quiet restaurant located in a very quiet part of town. I would definitely love to come back again if I was in the area. FYI, came here on a Thursday night and there were hardly any customers, except for at the bar where there were about 10 friends mingling. I’m not sure what the crowd is like on a Friday night, but I assume it’s a little bit more crowded.

I used to go to Yo in Yo Out for an occasional dinner, since I live close by and I was always really happy with their food, and especially the service. I just had dinner there last night with two friends, after a year long hiatus or so. Wow, the place has changed! The number one issue is the service.(and I’d give this 2.5 stars if I could. Adding half a star for the fresh bread). What is wrong with this picture? — Waitress #1 outside smoking, Waitress #2 in the corner texting. The three of us at my table were just served various items that we had ordered, with zero rhyme or reason or though to order. One friend was served her app, I was served my entire meal(app + steaming main dish) and my 3rd friend was patiently for both her app and wine. This went on for 10 min or so before one of the waitresses came up for air. Really? This is just one example of the laughable & careless service. We felt like the waitresses wanted us to leave so that they could go on with their business. The food was pretty good. The standout was the lamb chops– delicious and juicy. The desserts also looked pretty tasty but we weren’t in the mood(waitress didn’t ask anyway!!!). Yo in Yo Out is worth checking out if you’re in the hood and you want comforting french food(the crepes and sandwiches are really good) and have the patience and time for poor service. It’s pretty cozy inside too. I hope this place gets the service together because it has the potential to be a great neighborhood spot!

Tip: making a reservation won’t help you get seated on time. Décor: 3.5÷5 –There is seating for approx 18 and 4 at the bar. The lounge area seats 7. –The first thing I noticed was the wonderful smell. Waiting for our table to get ready while every breath was of the wonderful smell of food made me excited to try their dishes. Service: 0⁄5 –We made a reservation for 8pm, arrived at 7:45 and was told that we would be seated before 8pm. We were seated at 8:31p. –I was ready to walk out and go to Joy Burger next door. What was the point of making a reservation when a party of 4 before us got seated without a reservation? MINUS one star. –Automatic 20% gratuity for party of two? Wtf? After the poor service I received? MINUS one star –I have contacted the owner Yoanne by email. I have yet to receive a reply in over two months! Food: 2.5÷5 –The complimentary fresh bread was the best part of the dinner. The butter was too hard to spread on the bread though. –Cobb Salad«a Ma Lacon($ 15) consists of Marinated chicken, bacon, eggs, blue cheese, tomatoes, cucumber and organic mesclun and balsamic vinaigrette –The salad was huge but the taste was okay. The bacon was very salty. –Risotto De La Mer($ 19.50) came with a few pieces of lobster and four small shrimps with tomatoes, asparagus and garlic olive oil sauce. This dish was very rich would not suggest eating the whole dish as I started to feel a bit sick afterwards. All in all, my experience was poor. I would NOT recommend coming here.

I was a little tentative about coming here for dinner because of so many negative dinner reviews on Unilocal. However, I got a gift certificate so I figured I’d give it a shot. I was pleasantly surprised though by the entire experience. I don’t know if the employees were family, but it felt like we were being welcomed into a family’s home. The server(who I’m pretty sure was the owner?) was French and the couple sitting next to us was French and it just seemed like such a warm environment. The food: We started with their salad special which was seared sea scallops on a bed of arugula with orange slices and beets. The dressing gave the salad the perfect blend of ingredients and I cleaned my plate. My husband ordered the linguine de la Mer which included shrimp and lobster and I tried some and it was very tasty. I preferred my dish though, which was the lobster Mac and cheese. I LOVE Mac and cheese and order it at almost every restaurant, and this was some of the best. It was deliciously creamy with just the right amount of lobster. The portions were generous and filling and the prices are reasonable for the quality. With the gift certificate, the meal was a great price. I will definitely return and bring my friends.

I came here late one day for lunch with a companion. The space itself is cozy and small much like the average neighborhood café. Upon sitting we were told our menus would be brought to us shortly. It appeared that there was only waitress working. We settled on sharing a Warm Spinach Salad and the Chipotle Chicken Sandwich on a baguette. First of all, the service was very slow much like everyone else has said. Unfortunately the food did no compensate for the slowness. Apparently the chef was confused on how to split the sandwich on the salad. Eventually after waiting for a while our meal came. The food we were presented with did not look appetizing at all. The Warm Spinach Salad was basically sauteed spinach with bits of cooked bacon, rings of cooked onions, and garnished with chopped tomatoes. The spinach was soggy and had a weird zingy sweet taste from the overuse balsamic vinegar. The sandwich was composed of tough white meat chicken tossed in a thin watery tomato sauce that really had no taste at all. The Swiss cheese inside tasted like the kind of Swiss that you might find at a grocery store in a cellophane package. The portions were large though. The two of us basically picked at our meals. Our waitress was very kind and gave us complimentary dessert of our choice. I had heard that the Panna Cotta was very good so we ordered two mini Panna Cotta, one Mango and one Raspberry. Both were very good, but I preferred the Raspberry over the Mango. The Raspberry had a nice tartness that paired well with the sweetness of the custard. The custard was smooth and creamy flecked with vanilla bean. The raspberry purée on the top was sweet and tart at the same time. The mango purée had little bits of mango, and was a tad sweeter than the raspberry. The dessert was the one redeeming factor of the whole meal. If I were ever to come back it would be for the Panna Cotta.

Great food, great service. I came here for Sunday brunch and it was pretty busy but not too busy to get seats. I ordered the french toast which was just the right amount of fluffy and sweet. Since we sat at the counter, we got to see the food get prepared and the salads look HUGE and so delicious. If we weren’t so full after our dishes, we would have ordered a salad to share. Next time. I knocked one star off because of the price for the French Toast, $ 11.75 for 4 little pieces(even though this is just the perfect amount for me). I got it even though it was so expensive because I was craving sweets but otherwise, I would have passed. Otherwise, this is definitely a little gem in East Harlem!

Beyond what must be the steepest block in NYC between 102nd&103rd st, lies this small French restaurant & creperie whose chef was seen in Chopped. This inspired my wife to get a KGB deal and we showed up for dinner around 7:15pm on a Wednesday. The first thing we were told is that we couldn’t get the rack of lamb or the filet mignon with the deal. bummer! We were both looking forward to the lamb. Getting over our disappointment, we got: Cobb Salad(app#1): I am not a salad fan but if you put bacon in there with chicken & mayo, then«salad» is a pretty loosely used word. I’m not complaining 3.5÷5 Warm Spinach Salad(app#2): Can it still be called a salad if the spinach is cooked and you put a decent amount of pancetta and caramelized onions in it? Frankly, I don’t care. I do care that it was good! 4⁄5 Filet de Tilapia(main #1): This is where things took a bad turn. The tilapia filet was the size of my fist, if that. The mashed potatoes had okay flavor but were lumpy and coarse. Texture wise, they were a massive failure. The tilapia tasted okay, but if I had to pay regular price for a filet that small, I would’ve been PIIIISSED! 2⁄5 Linguini«de la Mar»(main#2): They ran out of linguini so we got the dish with fettuccini instead. With only 4 measly shrimps this«seafood» pasta was one of the blandest, driest, and all together the saddest excuse for a pasta I’ve ever tasted. Yuck! It was so bad that we couldn’t finish the pasta, and I’m supposed to be the human garbage disposal. 1⁄5 They also took way too much time to serve the mains but the apps and the service were their saving grace. The people working there were really nice and when asked how the food was, we couldn’t bring ourselves to complain. Maybe the crepes here are better but we’ll never know. Sorry Yo In Yo Out, you’ve been chopped!

I’m continuously underwhelmed by Yo In Yo Out. Went here recently with a Groupon deal for lunch with a girlfriend and was completely disappointed… for about the second time so I think I’m done giving this place chances. Thing is– I really want it to be good. It’s an unassuming bistro in this neighborhood but UGH– My caprese salad was BLAH. My mozzarella tasted like it was polly-o which isn’t terrible but definitely not okay for a plate that costs $ 16 regularly. And my smoked salmon carpaccio entrée was also BLAH. Smoked salmon was chewy and did NOT taste fresh whatsoever. So much so that I ended up leaving most of the dish– didn’t even pack it. My friend’s «mashed potato» that came with her salmon entrée was borderline disgusting– it was watery, chunky(in a bad way), and GROSS. Also our bread was stale. Seriously, really stale.

Apparently, the chef of this place was on Food Network or something? Not really sure, but when I came to NYC with my friend, she REAAALLLY wanted to come. SO we made reservations for a Sunday brunch and hopped on a subway to make the hike to this place. My two friends and I each ordered a different crêpe that came with a salad on top and they were all delicious. I think we all didn’t leave ANYTHING on the plate. Service was a bit on the slower side though even if the place wasn’t that busy. Overall, recommended if you’re around!

Wonderful restaurant! My bf took me here late Friday night around 9:30. They let us in and totally didn’t rush us considering the kitchen closes at 10. Also– we didn’t have a rez. It was a whim decision because we had a Groupon for this place that included: an app and main each(no wine). I think it was like $ 40. Prices without it would run you about $ 0ish for apps(cheese plate and soup I think) and $ 13 for organic fresh salads, and for mains, $ 13ish for crepes and up to $ 20 for other mains. I would recommend making a rez because the place is small. We actually sat in the«living room», a waiting area I suppose. But it’s super cute. It’s dimly light and romantic: D. But we saw lots of groups there. The bathroom is also clean and Parisian. The highlight is that the owner herself, Yoanne is a sweet lady. She took orders herself and was very helpful with recommendations. She struck conversation at the right points(Do you live in the area… you should come back for our homemade brunch, etc). That’s the thing– this place is incredibly homemade it’s like you’re eating your Mom’s cooking. Everything is made in house, and the food is super fresh, organic and healthy(for the most part). And the service is good too– waters always refilled, food on time, etc. We ordered: Apps — there are a few soups of the day; I got the asparagus with homemade croutons– no cream. No cream yet very rich and delicious. The asparagus has a great flavor but it’s not too strong if you don’t love asparagus. The bowl was a nice portion too. My bf’s app was the organic apple salad with the goat cheese on bread. This was so fresh– everything was crisp and the homemade balsamic vinaigrette was delicious. Mains– For an extra $ 5, my bf ordered the rack of lamb. He said it was cooked very nicely. Came with a «special» veggie-immersed mashed potato; spinach. This was super yummy and lumpy– the way I like mashed p’s. Came with a side of steamed string beans and cherry tomatoes, which were fine– nothing special. I had the same mashed and veggies but I ordered the chicken. The chicken was actually the worst thing we had all night… which is why this place gets 4 stars. It wasn’t well seasoned and a bit rubbery. and greasy. It wasn’t a juicy, yummy pan roasted chicken. Oh well, we can’t win them all. Wine– wine did not come with our groupon(we thought it did) but we were asked if we wanted any and got some. These were $ 8 a glass. I had a nice pinot noir which had a lot of body to it and a good fruity flavor. My bf got the Malbec which as dry and smoky, per usual. I would consider coming back because Yoanne is so sweet and the place is quaint… maybe for brunch since I am weak in the knees for croissants and apparently Yoanne makes chocolate ones from scratch.

A neighborhood gem… really awesome food. I had the Minestrone Soup and the Mushroom Pasta with a glass of white wine for the $ 25 pre-fixe dinner… awesome deal that even came with some mini-desserts. My only disappointment was that they didn’t have any Lobster Bisque soup though it was listed as a special that night(and we were the first dinner guests at 6:30pm). I would love to go back for the Lobster and Shrimp Linguine or Risotto, both of which sound delicious. Nice décor and lighting, though the staff is a little more casual than the space(both in dress and behavior).

Had a terrific brunch here this past weekend at this little French bistro. As there is not much else in this no-man’s-land part of where the UES meets East Harlem this was a wonderful reprieve to satisfy my hunger. It was later in the afternoon when we arrived there and yet it was still so packed that we had to wait for a few minutes. The owner/manager is such a nice lady and very friendly as she kept coming by to make sure we knew a table was coming up. She also took our orders later on and made some nice suggestions. Even though the place is small it exudes a cozy and relaxed vibe. Right in front of the large open front window there are couches and comfy chairs. The décor is sparse but tasteful with fun French themed pictures on the wall. The tables and chairs are nicely done too. I also have to give props for the big clean bathroom! The food here is put together with love and care. You can tell that many of the items on the menu are personal favorites and authentic plates from where the owner and her sister lived in France. We decided to forego getting crepes and went for two egg plates — Benedicte — 2 poached eggs over toasted english muffin, smoked ham & hollandaise sauce. Also had one of the terrific fluted drinks that was green based but tasted great. I can’t remember the name of it. The eggs were perfectly made, and that ham was so lean and tasty. Florentine Eggs — 2 baked eggs with spinach, crème fraîche, tomatoes & fresh herbs. This I had as part of the«Hit & Run» brunch deal for $ 18. Came with coffee, a mimosa, and a croissant. Delicious meal, and the croissant was buttery fluffy goodness. Overall, the cost for this meal came out to be a bit pricey especially for the area, yet it was very much worth it for the wonderfully prepared food and personal service. What I did like is that one of the chefs came over a few times to apologize for the wait as they were a bit backed up and it took a while for our food to come out. He even went and brought me a fresh cup of coffee and apologized again. Now that is personal service, and shows they care about the customer. This lovely French bistro is just the shot in the arm this underdeveloped part of town needs. Seems like they have a good following already which is a telling sign. Will definitely be back, as they have a pretty large amount of items on the menu to try, and also serve dinner with daily specials. Nice selection of drinks with some wines and beer too.

The eggs florentine were magnifique. The eggs Norwegian were tres bien. The owner is delightful. Very accommodating.Very friendly. The space is small but has a variety of seating, booth along the wall, small tables and a living room setup in front of the open windows. Even the bathroom is adorable, with lit candles, a mural and an antique vanity. The only downside was that because it is so small, when it got crowded, the noise level began to become uncomfortable and, more importantly, we felt rushed to leave. Important to note that it was not by the owner but by wait service that brought us our check and then quickly came around again. Especially bad since we had carried our laptops from waaaaay uptown, thinking we would be able to chill. Overall, it was a nice place and definitely worth checking out if you are anywhere near the gentrifying Barrio.
