Cozy ambiance, unique flavors and aromas. Found my new neighborhood favorite for brunch.

I’ve dined here twice in the same week. It is so delicious perfect portion sizes and prices. The vegan platter is great for a meal or a large app to share.

What a hidden treasure! Tasty moroccan food, super reasonable prices. Sit at the window seat for heated pleasure if its too chilly outside. definately order chicken bastilla with salad and vegetable couscous. Start with three appetizer specials. Portions are just right!

Can warmly recommend this place. Great food with so many different tastes, spices, colors served by professional, friendly people who gave you all the time you needed for ordering and ask for the check. You felt so welcomed. Smart solution to select three or five appetizers for the table before the main course, everything tasted great. Reasonable prized. Will go back here again even if it´s far from my own hood.

We came here solely based on the Unilocal reviews. My mom had a doctor’s appointment at Mt. Sinai a few blocks down, and since she doesn’t come into the city much, I figured I’d take her out to eat. Unilocal said this joint was one of the closest with high reviews. I dropped my mom off, as she has trouble walking, then proceeded to look for parking. About 15 minutes later I finally arrived to La Shuk, to a very happy looking mom. She was drinking hot tea with mint and honey. Pauline(sp?) greeted her, and asked if she wanted tea. My mom said only water, but Pauline looked at my shivering mom and said, «But it’s so cold outside!» My mom obliged, and we both had some pretty good tea!(I’m not a caffeine person, but even I thought it was good) The entrees were real tasty! We ordered two; 1) Spicy Moroccan Fish — DELICIOUS. The spicy fish was tender, but not so much so that it would fall apart. It was paired well with sliced, roasted potatoes, cooked in ironware along with more hummus and pita bread. 2) Spicy Lamb Kebab — DELICIOUS. Absolutely scrumptious, aromatic, flavorful. It comes with 2 lamb kebabs, hummus, olives, salad and tabouli along with warm pita bread. .plus dessert; 3) Almond Malabi. Yummy! We tasted the fresh rose water, with the nice lite-yoghurt type dessert topped with crushed almonds. Shared with another person, it cleaned the palate quite well, and left a refreshing cleanness in our mouths. I recommend that above two dishes, my mom and I shared it — and it was hearty and filling. The star of the restaurant is Pauline. My mom and I agreed. Some servers/greeters are courteous, friendly, or distant and professional — but Pauline literally made us feel at home. She asked how we were doing, where we were from, what brought us in their neck of the woods — it was like walking into a quaint, small town mom-n-pop restaurant. She was kind enough to offer my freezing mother some hot tea with mint and honey, and even gave me some extra pita bread. If you’re reading Pauline, thank you from LA! I usually don’t write super highly of restaurants, since food is food, and there’s only so much flavor food can hold… but the whole package made me like this place; 1) Mom-n-pop establishment, 2) Courteous staff, 3) Deliciously prepared food, 4) Cleanliness 5) Pauline — when I went to retrieve my car and arrived in front of La Shuk, I saw Pauline walk my mother to the door, open it, and hold her hand, assisting her getting across the sidewalk so she wouldn’t fall… Wow. There was literally us, and another party of two in the restaurant when we visited. I shall surely visit again when in town.

A lovely little spot in East Harlem for brunch. We came here for brunch and had the green shashuka .and eggs with Moroccan guacamole. Pita bread and a salad dressed with a light tahini dressing came with both egg dishes. The shashuka was two poached eggs over a bed of spinach, feta cheese and tomatoes. Mint tea, iced or hot and strong coffee are good accompaniments to the food. Besides the Moroccan dishes there are also a few traditional American choices. like French toast. A quiet spot with no bar, except they do serve unlimited Mimosas if you’d like to order included with a $ 25 brunch special.

Whipped out Unilocal to look for brunch options after the Ted Corbitt 15K and it brought me here. The staff was sweet but clearly overwhelmed by hordes of hungry, thirsty runners. La Shuk is a neighborhood café, so it’s really no surprise. Still, they did their best to get everyone a seat, and played some table tetris to make sure our part of 3 turned 4 would be comfortable. Food and especially drinks took a pretty long time, which I attribute again to the unusual spike in diners exceeding labor bandwidth. It was cool, though, because it gave us time to hang out while my gf made her way uptown to join us. The Boulder IPA I wanted was not available, which kind of sucked, but they did sub in an OK second-stringer(Saratoga Springs).I also appreciated the mint tea, which comes in a teapot with glasses in lieu of ceramic mugs. The food was delicious and generously apportioned: from the French toast to the shakshuka as well as my spicy lamb kebab platter, which arrived with an arrangement of hummus, Arabic salad, tabouli, and pita. My friend and I both ordered eggs on the side and they messed up the egg style(over easy. vs fried), which is tricky to diagnose without digging in, but again, small gripes. No one had a bad time and we were able to lounge leisurely on our Mediterranean mid-morning siesta. If you’re in the neighborhood, check it out. Locals have a mellow, affordable hangout in La Shuk. PS: They don’t have a full bar, just beer and wines, so no Bloody Marys but mimosas are available.

Delicious! Delicious! Delicious! Came here for brunch, and ordered the Green Shashuka(baked eggs cooked in light tomato sauce with spinach and feta, and a side of hummus and salad) which was great with a pot of Moroccan Mint Tea.(side note, there is an option to make any entrée come with unlimited mimosas) My friends got the Chicken Bastilla(crispy filo pastry filled with chicken, almonds and seasoned with spices) and the La Shuk Breakfast(Scrambled egg with feta cheese, hummus, an assortment of eggplant salads, smoked salmon, tabouli and pita bread). No bad choices here. I will be coming back to try the Marrakesh Tagine(Stew seasons with the blend of traditional herb and spices, pickled lemon and olives) ’cause it sounded really good. Service is attentive but have patience because there was just one person working the floor. Not that it really mattered ’cause it was brunch!

La Shuk. Delicious food prepared with love. We’ve been going here since we moved to the area — 6 months — and it is perfect for a good weekday dinner. Careful not ordering too much at once as the tables are small. I highly recommend tasting the dishes you’d think you wouldn’t like you might be surprised.

Love this spot. Food is really clean and delicious. One of my regular stops for weeknight dinner or weekend brunch. Service isn’t the best when they are busy, so keep that in mind if you’re looking to get in and out.

I had dinner here with my family and some friends. We were a very large group and privatized the restaurant. The owner was so helpful and kind. The waitress was very nice as well. The food is very good. My favorite was the vegetarian cigars! Delicious. The lamb kebab platter was good as well. The restaurant has a festive yet cosy feel to it. Good Moroccan restaurant. I here the owner is opening a new place soon, we’re looking forward to trying it!

Who would have thought that French moroccan food for brunch would hit the spot?! La Shuk is a little gem hidden in Spanish Harlem. Service was great(maybe because we were the only ones there though.) but still great! Prices are reasonable and portions are generous. It has a very low key ambiance. Ordered: 1. Green shashuka– baked eggs cooked in tomato sauce with spinach and feta. This would have made this dish even more delicious if the eggs were poached instead. I got fooled by one of the Unilocal pictures for some reason. 2. Spicy Lamb kebab platter– the kebab was more like a spicy lamb sausage but still delicious nonetheless. If you happen to be in the area and need something different to tease your palate, definitely stop by La Shuk!

Walked in for a quick brunch close to work on a sat late morning around 11. My husband fell in love with the music. All he kept saying was– man it feels like sitting in Turkey !! And it sure did. Amazing décor and service. Prices very reasonable. Food is Earth shattering!!! We wanted to try a lil bit of everything, so we went for the 5 appetizers for 20 bucks– spicy chickpeas, artichoke salad, hummus, lamb kobab, veggie cigars. All came with whole wheat crispy pita. Every single bite was filled with flavor. Veggie cigar– spinach and goat cheese wrapped in pastry dipped in honey– my personal favorite here Lamb kobab– spicy, well done, juicy– my second fav :) Spicy chickpeas– traditional spices and oh so authentic– my hubbie’s fav Hummus and olives with pita– delicious and we both loved it Artichoke and bean salad– delicious! Generous portions– we could not go beyond appetizer. We concluded the brunch with almond pudding– so light and aromatic– rose in every bite!!! To summarize– just try this place out!

I’m not sure why this place has 4.5 stars. We had a good dinner, but it wasn’t outstanding. I did appreciate that the place was almost empty on a Saturday night; I had made a reservation, but didn’t need it. We started with an artichoke and bean salad, which was fine. Our main courses were the chicken bastilla and spicy lamb sausage tangine. The bastilla comes with confectioners sugar sprinkled on top, so it’s a sweet dish, but I wished it was more savory. The lamb tangine was a bit too spicy; I couldn’t appreciate the flavor of the lamb. They had a dinner special which included an app, an entrée, and a glass of wine, which was a good deal(I think for $ 21, though can’t be sure). I wouldn’t go back. I wonder if it’s hard to find Moroccan food in the city, so when people find it, they rate it so high.

Be warned! The restaurant is small and there is only one server so don’t expect to easily walk in, get a table and eat fast. The staff were friendly even though she def needed some help! The weekend breakfast was a healthy mix but I had to order some eggs otherwise it just wasn’t breakfast! Look out or ask about the brunch promotions as they didn’t mention them and only as we look at the outdoor sign did we realise we could have been knocking back mimosas! Food was good and didn’t wait too long but them most was hummus style & so premade.

Been there for brunch. The girl serving us was extremely nice, even to the incredibly rude patron at the next table. The food was good but the scrambled eggs had no salt at all. I mean none. And the feta cheese was kind of tasteless. Everything else on the brunch plate was delish.
