I went here with my mom and dad for dinner and we were blown away by how tasty it was. I don’t know their bourse but this is a very tasty spot for dinner.

This place is AMAZING. We got the $ 100 pp course(the middle course. Highest course is reservation only). Here are the major points I was impressed with: 1) Truly Japanese yakiniku style. They are about quality, not quantity. Staffs are Japanese, and they have special meat from Japan. 2) Service is great. Some of the meats they will cook themselves because they have a certain recommended style on how to eat the meat(Like cooking each side for only 5 seconds and dipping it in egg yolk… yummmm). Other times, they will come to your table and make sure nothing is overcooking. 3) THEMEATISDELICIOUS. The 10 second meat, the thick slab of tongue, the appetizers and gyu-toro sushi… WOW, just wow. I am not a huge meat fan, but I was glad to eat here until I was stuffed. Definitely the best yakiniku place in NYC so far…

Now one of my two favorite yakiniku restaurants in Nyc… the other one is takashi in west village. Super authentic and amazing meat quality. Must gets(make sure to pre-order over the phone since there’s limited amount): special kalbi totally worth the $ 45, and 10 second beef Sometimes they run out of the 10 second beef over the weekends since they get their beef weekly on Mondays. Garlic rice is better than the cold noodles! Trust me. The garlic rice goes really well with the beef so don’t gobble it all up at once! The outside skirt marinated in their spicy sauce is soooo good, much better than I expected, and not spicy at all. The steak with garlic… ohhhh if you like garlic and butter you’re in for a ride in your mouth. Afterwards you’re definitely going to taste just like garlic and butter. Service 100% and guess what — you won’t come out smelling like grilled meats! So it’s a place that you can definitely wear something you like(since you’ll also get a bib so nothing will spatter on you).

Originally from the Motherland, JAPAN! THISIS A SERIOUS«WOOHOO! AS good as it gets» for me. I think this might possibly be my favorite restaurant O. O FOODRECOMMENDATIONS! –10 second beef — UNI + shiso leaf + nori sheet –Hamideru(must be pre-ordered when you make reservations) –Garlic Rice –cold noodle soup (what’s nice is, on the menu, have the most popular/recommended in red font color) 10 second beef I think i’ll be dreaming about it for a while. Like advertised, you put the beef on the grill for 10 seconds. It is then dipped in a fresh egg wash, with the new yolks popped right in front of you. Talk about egg porn. :P It is then wrapped around a ball of rice that is lightly season with vinegar. Uni +Shiso Leaf + Nori Sheet The thinly sliced piece of meat is lightly grilled for literally 3 seconds on each side. It is dipped in a soy sauce-like/wasabi wash and then put on top of the piece of uni, shiso(sesame leaf) and seaweed sheet. The flavor combination is amazing! Hamideru –YOISHO!(i think I’m spelling it wrong) optional & yelled by the servers before put on the grill. –It will come in smokin’ do to the dry ice. –they will cook most of it for you. –PORK Garlic rice –Mixed in front of you and in a stone pot. –The rice sits in the stone pot for a little bit so the rice can get crunchy. Cold Noodle Soup –It’s a lot like the Korean Soup, mul-nyaen-myun, which means Water Noodles. –You must eat the noodle fast because like ramen, the texture of the noodles change. –It’s refreshing after a meat heavy meal. –Optionally doused with vinegar! If you look it up on Facebook, they have a secret menu item. SERVICE: My experience with the servers have always been exceptional! They’re knowledgable about how much is a good amount for generally happy people that will also be honest about their food recommendations, even to eat other things in the city. BATHROOM: are equipped with everything from mouth wash, toothpick to I believe, feminine products for the ladies~ They’re going to start serving THEBBQ at lunch time. FORREASONABLESIZEGROUPS: Good for celebrations! I think it good to come here with a sizable group. It’s also good to come in EVEN numbers because of their serving size for each order. It comes at a hefty price. PRICE: It’s usually $ 70-$ 100 per person every time I’ve come here. But that also includes alcoholic drinks, which can definitely jack the bill up. BYOB! I still need to go here 6 more times. There are golden tongs and a wooden panel calling my name. MYDAYWILLCOME!

Celebrating a special occasion or going on a date with a ravenous carnivore? Then I highly recommend that you hit this spot for a classy ass experience with a lot of absolutely incredible beef. Again, definitely best for the meat lover, as beef is their specialty and vegetarians won’t get much love on the menu. So as I have mentioned several times now, the beef is incredible. Have the servers suggest some of their favorites. It can get mighty pricey but sometimes they bring out the raw beef on a platter of dry ice with some flowers on top, classy af, am I right? Some other really cool parts about this place: (1) the bathrooms. If you’ve been to Japan you know that they have their toilet technology down; the Japanese are lightyears ahead of us when it comes to tricked out toilets. You’ll experience this and much more on your trip to the bathroom. Ambient music, weird art on the way to the actual bathroom, then all of the accoutrements you could ask for once inside. You may want to arrive early to spend some time in there before your meal starts. (2) On the way to the tables, you’ll notice a little case filled with rows of gold tongs, like the ones you use to cook meat at the tables. We realized that if you’re a regular you can have these personalized tongs for your exclusive use. I can only imagine how much beef these super VIPs ate, but dang, I would feel pretty special if I could waltz in and ask for my personal tongs. Maybe one day…

Came here with a group of friends. The ambience was great — perfect place for hanging out at night. Once you stepped in, you will see a bright and large bar space. Keep going forward you can see the dinning area — spacy and elegant. Service was really just average from what I feel, compared with other Japanese or Korean restaurants. Our waiter didn’t explain much about the menu or gave useful recommendations to us. Luckily, we have friends came here before and taught us beforehand what we should order. I was impressed by the 4 star rib eye/beef and the garlic with beef. They tasted special. The rest of the food we ordered were just ordinary to me, such as another kind of beef(I even forgot which one I had.), cold noodles(I wasn’t a big fan of cold noodles anyway), bibimbap(just ordinay bibimbap you have in other korean restaurants). In general, food is priced high, considering how it tastes and what service is offered here. But the great decorations here makes the price level more reasonable though.

What can I say about this place except for this is hands down one of the best barbeque beef restaurants I have ever been to? Following the strong recommendation of a good friend, my foodie friend made a reservation and ordered a variety of beef dishes for four people on a Tuesday night. The restaurant was not as crowded on a Tuesday night as I imagined it to be. To be honest, I had no idea about the specific names of most beef dishes we ate last night except for the fact that they were all incredibly tender, flavorful and delicious. It was beyond my wildest imagination that beef could literally melt in your month just as how sushi do. I strongly recommend that everyone try the 10-second beef, which is supposed to be the signature dish at their restaurant. With a thin slice of tender beef being lightly fried for 10 seconds before having egg yolk properly smear on the surface of the meat, you find yourself in a beef heaven by tasting the most tender, melt-able, flavorful beef piece of all time– absolutely spectacular! Their cold ramen is another must try dish on the menu for its distinguished cold, chewy and unique taste unlike anything else you can find in other ramen places in New York; it is as if the restaurant had innovated a new way to make ramen«cool» in a fashionable manner. Without a doubt that I would definitely revisit this place and try have my name on one of its decorative wooden-boards on the right side of the restaurant wall(ask the staff how you would be eligible to put your name up there!)

Five stars for everything. I’ve had vivid dreams about this place ever since I had my first meal here. You know that feeling when you get a crush and you can’t stop thinking about them? Well, clearly I’m infatuated with Yakiniku Futago. Everything was so delicious that it was consumed at an accelerated rate — we got the crispy potato salad, beef and uni over seaweed, cold noodles, garlic rice, garlic butter filet, and a variety of other dishes I couldn’t care to remember. I would heavily advise making reservations and reserving their Waygu beef. We ended up with a later reservation and missed out on a few dishes that they ran out of. The price tag is steep for the portion that you receive, but the quality is well worth the money. The restaurant provides you with a bib to prevent spills and splatters on your clothes, a plastic bag for your phone, and their bathrooms are fully stocked with toiletries you might need to refresh after your meal. They even have state-of-the-art Japanese toilets. I spent at least 15 minutes playing around with all the buttons. Yakiniku Futago is an experience everyone must attempt to try.

Salad to start was good, and the hamideru kalbi was great, but the other 2 meats were only pretty good, and the cold noodles were no good, and the shaved ice was eh. Overall, it’s definitely a stretch to say their business model is smaller portions at lower prices, as we left much poorer and not much fuller. Nice restrooms and mouthwash, though, but they should get an English menu & site going, and lift the 2-hour maximum for tables since they’re not AYCE. Missed using March 2016 promotion for free dessert with Facebook Checkin.

Came here with my boyfriend for a date night and ordered the Hamideru Kalbi, 4 Meat Platter, Garlic Rice and Cold Noodles. Overall, the meat was very high quality. Wait staff was also attentive and helpful. The Gold Rush desert was delicious. Docking two stars for having the WORST hostess. Seriously, the blonde girl upfront was rude and had a horrible holier-than-thou attitude. No welcome, no goodbye, and when she served us drinks and we said«thank you,» she ignored us. Sweetheart, sorry to break it to you but you’re not the Queen of England… Your job is in hospitality so shape up your attitude or GTFO. Rec to the owners: let go of the hostess that works on Saturdays evenings. She’s unprofessional and it’s not becoming of a high class restaurant. There are a million more beautiful girls in NYC who will do a better job.

Does someone in your life love beef above all else? Skip the steakhouses. Bring them here. The Hamideru Kalbi, the shortrib, the the harami, the tongue sushi, the beef with sea urchin… this was the beefiest, richest meal I may have ever had. It isn’t cheap, but the quality is stunning, and the meal is almost like theater. The Hamideru Kalbi arrives amid dry ice, with vapor swirling around it mysteriously. It’s so juicy, so savory, that the waitstaff yells at you, and insists you yell back. This is the way beef should taste. Add on some garlic rice, the cabbage salad, the cold noodles, and whatever else sounds good. But don’t skimp on the beef. If you’re going to do it, do it right. This also might sound weird, but make sure you use the bathrooms. Not only is it essentially a spa in there(after you walk down the bizarre hallway), but they also have the top-of-the-line Japanese toilets where the heated seats lower when you walk in. I may or may not have peed sitting down, which was a confusing experience I don’t really want to talk about. Basically, this is a beautiful, unique restaurant that you should probably spring for at least once, if only for the novelty. And the beef.

My best Yakiniku experience so far. I guess what made Futago stand out was not only its flawless decoration, but also the authentic flavor. They made the ordering process really easy by coloring their signature dishes in red — which were essentially everything we tried. Of all signatures, my top recommendations were Wagyu beef(with smoke), 10 sec beef and thick beef tongue. Dipping the grilled beef into the egg yolk was a bit like eating sukiyaki, impressive! Towards the end of meal came another surprise — shaved ice with small gold pieces. The condensed milk was able to add a slight touch of sweetness, combining itself perfectly well with the refreshness from the ice. Upon completion of dining, our waiter brought us a golden tongs, which will have our names carved on top once we have dined for ten times! I want it so badly!!!

Start with the good parts. The décor and service of this place is fantastic. But I should admit there is much better Japanese bbq place in the city with the same price range like takashi, if you don’t mind waiting in line for an hour. We ordered the signature fried shrimp and egg. The egg is tasty, but the shrimp is a little bit overcooked. We also got the signature Kalbi. I have tried high quality beef in Kobe, Japan. Compare to what I got in Japan, the Kalbi is too fat. Felt a little bit overwhelmed after two of us finishing the whole steak. The cabbage salad is really good. But the other signature dish, cold noodle is just average. For the shaved ice, the condensed milk was not even. Some parts are too sweet, while others are lack of flavor.

Dim, warm lighting provides a comfortable, cozy, yet elegant ambiance. The potato salad garnished with bits of potato chip on top, is served on a bed of lettuce with a smooth dressing. It’s pretty good(I could taste the bits of egg mixed in.) The order of shrimp is pretty small, it comes with two, large, plump shrimp with heads and tails on($ 4 per shrimp). It’s gone quickly in a several bites. The cold noodles here are delicious, I really like the chewy noodles in a chilled, tasty broth with half a boiled egg, nori bits, and chopped green onion. The ‘dragon kalbi’(one of the specials of the day) was flavorful and delicious. It was chewier than I expected but still excellent. The portions here are small and pricey.

Pretty decent ramen for lunch. They only have two ramen options for lunch with add-ins and buns. I got the ramen with kalbi. The prices on the menu said it would be $ 13+ 5 but the bill said 14 as the total. Broth is tasty and porky.

Scammed :-( You can read the other reviews about how awesome this place is, and it’s true. The wagyu beef is buttery goodness. However… We were scammed when we ordered from the secret menu. We asked what was available in the secret menu. The waiter said to check the Facebook page, and that the Dragon Kalbi and Miyazaki Kalbi was available. The Facebook page listed the Miyazaki Kalbi as $ 35. Imagine our jubilant surprise when we saw our check for the inflated price of $ 78 for the Miyazaki Kalbi. I brought this up to our waiter, he went back to discuss with the manager, came back and told us that it should have listed a special version of it for $ 78 on the Facebook site, but for some reason, it wasn’t posted, but the $ 35 Miyazaki Kalbi was. Their company make a listing error, and we had to pay the misleading $ 78 price. We didn’t argue. The dinner was to celebrate Valentines Day, and doing that would ruin the mood. We ate good food, but was forced to leave with a bitter taste in our mouths. Caveat emptor 買い手はご用心

Absolutely loved this place! From the interior to the service, and to the food, everything was perfect. I really loved the interior because it was sleek, modern, and very spacious. Also the servers were all super friendly and helpful. As a first timer this is what we ordered: Garden salad with Korean dressing– Fresh & delicious. Good appetizer! 4 Premium Beefs of day– Gives you a very good experience of the best cuts of the day. You can tell how good the quality of the meat is hence why it’s on the pricey end. All very delicious and tender. Japanese Black Wagyu meat– #1 recommended meat for first timers and this was the BEST one. The meat literally melts into your mouth and it was very flavorful. I highly recommend this one, it’s a must have. Garlic rice in a hot stone– It was good, but super garlic-y.went well with lettuce just to tone it down. Japanese cold noodles: Very simple dish, but it was tasty and refreshening. Plum sake: One word: YUM! Overall I had a really good experience here! I would definitely come again. I love my meat! The only downside is this place is a bit pricey, the portions are pretty small… But that doesn’t stop me from coming because you really get what you paid for. maybe a bit more hah.

Take the time to enjoy Futago. It really is an experience that will stimulate all five senses. My Japanese yakiniku experience is limited to versions scattered throughout Manhattan, since I have yet to visit Japan, but I enjoyed most of them.(Yakiniku Takashi being my favorite, and Gyu Gaku being my least favorite. Futago isn’t as ‘cutting edge’ and fusion-ey as Takashi, but still delicious.) I highly recommend making reservations because I saw the hostess turn away two parties, insisting that the restaurant was fully booked for the evening. I didn’t think so, considering I saw at least 4 empty tables during my 2.5−3 hour meal. When you walk in, you will be greeted by the hostess, who either asks you to wait at the bar while you wait for the rest of the party, or she’ll take you to your seat. The bar seats approximately 10 – 12 people, and leads straight into the restaurant seating in the back. Most of the tables are big, big enough for family gatherings. The smaller tables can seat 4. They also have a small private room. Their menu consists of everything from cold noodles, garlic rice, rice balls, variety of cuts of beef, and shrimp skewers. It is an overwhelming menu, but they’ve created a ‘Popular Items’ menu, which was a life saver. We started with the deep fried shrimp, topped with a quail egg and sweet sauce. It was a great way to start the meal. We continued with a side of kimchi and vegetable medley. They bring the vegetables out on an aluminum foil, and cook it on the grill. We went a little overboard with the beef selection and decided to try one of each from their ‘Popular Items’ menu– Hamideru kalbi, Hadideru steak, 10-second beef marinaded in raw yolk, A-5 class short ribs, Beef tongue, and Toro Kobe beef. To our surprise, the 10-second beef was our least favorite. It is soft but doesn’t have the meaty quality that we are used to. We absolutely loved everything else and would highly recommend the A-5 short ribs, Hamideru, and Toro Kobe. The waiter grills everything for you. And they give you ziplock bags to place your phones in, to prevent the oil from getting on them. The garlic rice comes in a sizzling clay pot, and is shareable among 2 – 4 people. Of course, we decided to end the course with a cold bowl of noodles. The noodles were a lot thicker and sticky than I expected, but it was a great way to clean our palate. I’d skip dessert. We went with their coconut ice cream and wasn’t too happy about it. Even our waiter said that he couldn’t really recommend a dessert.
