pretty dead during happy hours, 1 bartender works there… wont be back

I came here for a private event nye and had a nice time! Bartenders courteous and attentive. Dawn in admin was kind enough to return/​send an item to me in CA that I left, THANK YOU! This was my 2^nd time here, and would go again. I enjoy a sophisticated crowd and music at a level we can still talk, not yell! People complaining about price, it’s nyc and nice bar, it’s to be expected…

What. The. Hell. Was I thinking?
Wanted to grab a drink after work which was extremely well deserved, I figured hey the dude that runs NY has a bar around my job, might as well take a look inside one of Trump towers, and see what the fuss is all about.
I walk in, feel out of place. Go to the bar and yup you guessed it, out-​of-​place. Now, those who read my reviews obviously only «know me» based on the short mini «tell all» I write. However for those who do personally know me, know for a fact I’m well mannered and not one of those mad obnoxious humans.
I unfortunately was so uncomfortable I decided to leave. The staff were polite, do not think they were the issue, because they definitely weren’t. :)
I ended up finding a cute bar (don’t ask me how a bar is cute, but it totally was) and enjoyed my evening. :)
Won’t be coming here ever again.

We visited here with the Groupon, were not too impressed by the drink quality and service. They were out of the cheeseboard, so we were only left with the option of truffle popcorn. The truffle popcorn is very tasty and fresh, but it was rather annoying that they were out of the cheeseboard.
The bar area seating is not comfortable as the white bar portion is too high for it to be comfortable.
They also charged us a mandatory 18% gratuity which was ridiculous as we had to carry our own drinks to the bar.
They use this location to hold a lot of speed dating events. We would not have visited without the Groupon and after this experience we will not be back.

A place to meet your friends, network, and … well, let’s just leave it at that…

This bar got a B rating from NYC health dept. I know how the rating system works, so they mean something. But I still go inside and check it out. Besides I am simply getting a beer while waiting for my friends, right?
So the bartender was a nice guy. It looks clean and the lighting and the sound level is pleasant. A bar with a B rating has advantages: Since there are less customers, you get star treatment. However «weird» customers also get star treatment because the owner is desparate. Otherwise who allow a customer to bring her dog which barks at everybody that gets into the bar. Are you even allowed to bring a pet to a place where food is served?
In short, I plan to go there again and watch for the lady with the dog.

The name catches your attention, the location entices you and the $ 50 World Cocktail convinces you to give it a shot. Upon visiting there last night, my experience was that it was crickets inside — super quiet, no one but our group of three and an elderly couple. The server/​bartender we had greeted us with a «What’s up» — not exactly what one would expect at an upscale bar. I went for the $ 50 World Cocktail experience and it was a bit of a disappointment. For the price tag (which I had no problem with), it sure was served on very small glassware (which I did have a problem with). A splash of this and a splash of that quickly filled up the glass. The drink tastes good, but it left more to be desired. As for the décor, I’m sure it was nice when the bar first opened, but it’s time to clean the walls, replace the torn curtains clean the furniture fabric and if they want to splurge a little — renovate the bathroom. May or may not visit the location again.

2 stars for… Being generous to this bar. Staff was friendly but clearly over whelmed. I read the review on this bar serving cheap wine– and they were spot on! Cheap– vinegar like disgrace of a grape– wine! Here for a meetup/​social networking hour. Thai place was great yearsssssss ago.
It’s more of an OLD BAR then a trendy world bar. Minus three stars for coat check. Instead of having the tickets go on numerical order… It was random. Random as in lottery. As in, show your ticket and come in and find your own coat! I kid you not! Coat number 5 was next to 62 and behind 88! No rhyme– no reason– no sense.
Also I hate drinking cheap wine out of a water stained glass!!! World bar… Your days are numbered! Ha! Numbered…

This beautiful bar has two floors and a cool sophisticated ambience,
comfortable seatIng and great music. Drinks are very reasonably priced regarding the location and the iconic building. The service is professional and friendly.
Besides I had a great time meeting really nice people and dancing, I would definitely come back here, and recommend it for catching up with a friend, small groups, dates and visitors (after all it’s Trump and New York).

got a good value groupon here (2 drinks each per person), which was expiring soon so we decided to come on a slow Saturday evening after new years. we didnt expect to be in the middle of a speed dating event and a cocktail mixing class! still, they told us the bar was open and we could just make ourselves comfortable.
in addition, the bartender was very new on the job, and told us he had to call the manager to see whether we could even use our groupons. after he confirmed we could, service was slow (he was servicing the daters & people at event), and us as well. he was friendly but overwhelmed as the place was understaffed. two stars, because the place appears to be poorly managed and the drinks & food were mediocre.

I was here for a party so I am not too sure how it would have been if I had alone, but the staff is very nice. They didn’t kick anyone out after many hours and gave out free finger foods throughout the night. I remember they were giving out grapes with cheese and crackers. They also gave out cheese quesadillas and chicken fingers throughout the night. Overall nice experience.

Hosted a fabulous party here! Great space, friendly staff and amazing cocktails too. Highly recommend it if you’re looking for a trendy venue space to host an event.

The look of the place is nice and it is definitely a small intimate setting. Just make sure to be patient if you need coat check services since I don’t think they have a full time permanent coat check person. The times I’ve been here I remember having to wait for someone to get & retrieve your coat when you came in (it was free for the event I went to on Friday, though so there’s that).
Bartenders were friendly and I remember the bathrooms being nice. Definitely the place to take your posh, sophisticated friends.

It was really the worst bar in the area. It looks upscale but the service is horrible. Not going back.

Seems outdated and poorly managed. Wines are not inexpensive by the glass but the selections of red are cheap, overly fruity, and lacking in any character (think: grape juice). No ale, IPA, or craft beer. If you are shooting a movie set in 1955 you can come here with a few ash trays and your set is complete. One extra star for a setting and view that have a hint of old style romance. (I am stuck at a social gathering here for an hour. Help!).
Message to management: walk up to 2^nd Ave, turn right and there are some VERY fine establishments that serve as a model of what yours could be. Example: Check out The Smith. Modern retro décor, excellent craft beers. always packed.

I used my bloomspot certificate for «Two cocktails and artisanal cheese plate ($ 47 value)» last night.
The bartender, Abe, immediately relieved me of the printed certificate, which I found slightly unusual, but I did not protest.
My friend and I sat upstairs. The furniture is stained and appears to not have been cleaned in quite some time.
The drinks were poorly made. My French 75 was minute and tasted almost exclusively of lemon.
My friend’s Pomegranate Martini had no champagne in it and was watery.
The «artisanal» cheese plate was severely disappointing. It consisted of borderline water crackers, a small bunch of grapes, and brie, gouda, provolone, and cheddar.
No artisans were involved in the creation of this plate. It is also certainly not worth $ 23-​.
All of the above, including no view of the United Nations, only motor vehicle traffic, can be tolerated.
However, Dishonest Abe was not quite finished disappointing and deceiving just yet.
When I asked to settle, he presented me with a check upon which a 20% gratuity had automatically been added, without my consent.
I questioned this, asking to see the bloomspot certificate, because I did not think this was accurate.
He refused to produce the certicate, saying it had been discarded already and he would not dig in the trash for it.
I did not wish to cause a scene, but I did wish to tip less than 20%, due to the poor drinks and mediocre food.
I paid the extorted $ 9.30, and saved my receipt.
When I checked my online bank account this morning, I saw:

Somehow, the $ 9.30 theft had ballooned to $ 12.09.
I am baffled, angered, and disappointed.

It looks like a hotel bar. Quiet, subtle, low key. The staff suffers slightly from communication problems (reservation made, nobody told anybody else), but that’s an extremely minor complaint. They did everything to make things right. Our waitress/​bartender, (I forget her name, but she’s Polish), was a goddess! And Ronald, our Filipino busboy/​cook/​waiter was just AMAZING. From «sorry, there’s no food left» to «we’ll see what we can do!» And they did! Great food from whatever scraps were left after the kitchen closed. 20 points for that!
It’s the perfect out-​of-​the-​way-​yet-​in-​midtown place to go for a quiet rendezvous. I’m not a cocktail drinker, so I can’t comment on that. I am a bar goer… and this is a gem!

People, people, people. It’s called the «World Bar» because it’s right across the street from the UN. It’s not called the «World Bar» because of all the International Folks that hang out there. Sure, some International Folks might just walk across the street for spendy cocktails, but the name alone is not going to guarantee it.
Yes, the drinks are expensive (as far as I know, I wasn’t paying). It’s in a Trump building, it’s not a pub. It’s a very modern and intimate setting, with a somewhat diverse crowd in age. A calm, quiet place to grab a very adult cocktail before getting wasted at karaōke around the corner.
