I’m sharing with the Unilocal community the letter I sent to Weight Watchers customer service: «I decided I needed to cancel my Weight Watchers account. Money was to be taken from my empty bank account within 24 hours and I didn’t want to incur an overdraft charge. So I braced myself for the all-too-familiar and inevitable subscription cancellation run-around. A run around that may or may not have actually kept my account from being tapped the next day. But Weight Watchers gave no run around. I found the cancellation page easily. The terms were easy to read and understand. And forgiving(no 30-day waiting period). No judgment(you said, ‘come back any time!’). And no pressure(ie: go here, look at this, try a different plan etc, etc). Canceling was as easy as 1, 2, 3. I cannot overstate how important, how appreciated this fact is. Instead of feeling knocked around, stalked, pressured… at the end of the process I felt lighter… my faith in commerce restored. A couple of years ago I attempted to cancel my recurring order with Purity Products. It took major detective work to discover how to even go about it. When I did uncover the cancellation information, hidden in the middle of a seemingly unrelated page, I learned that«for security reasons» I couldn’t cancel on line(even though I had set up the account on line). I won’t bore you with the insane details of the cancellation process except to say that, by the end of my hard-earned live phone call with a rep, I was begging(begging!) them to let me cancel. Anyway, I just wanted to say thank you. Getting through a day is challenging enough without having to also fight with businesses that feel they need to trick a consumer into giving them her hard-earned money I will most definitely be back. Sooner, rather than later. Weight Watchers is a wonderful product and a safe place. :-) Again, thank you Weight Watchers. Kay Hansen P.S. Here, if you’re interested is my Purity Products tale of tribulation that I posted on Unilocal

The Weight Watchers in Chelsea has moved around a few times but they have a really nice home on 23rd Street now. The weigh-ins are much more efficient now and they have a great selection of products. I usually only stay at the meetings briefly as I am just weighing in, but the leaders seem very good. Have been a WW member for seven years and I’m a big fan.
