I got the tofu banh mi and it was okay. The tofu was pretty bland, there definitely wasn’t enough sauce or vegetables on the sandwich. The staff members were polite and friendly, but the food just wasn’t that great. It was also overpriced for what was given. I’ve definitely had better banh mi sandwiches in the city before.

Don’t get the spring rolls here — they are not authentic at all. It was just noodles, iceburg lettuce, and shrimp. What happened to the bean sprouts, cilantro, and cuccumber? The pork chop banh mi was tasty! The bread survived my 8 minute walk back to the office and was still nice and toasty when I bit into it. The pork chops were well flavored. The pickled carrots and other veggies were a nice top off of the sandwich.

Best PHO in NYC! This review is meant for Korean audiences. This phở has a very korean home line broth and absolutely. Definitely recommend

Let me just preface this review by saying that I am a Californian, born and raised, and have grown up around large Vietnamese communities my entire life. Whenever my friends give me an option between Phở or Ramen, I always pick Phở. Any time I travel, I’m always looking for the closest Phở spot to hit up. I’ve tasted Phở in Westminster, CA, San Jose, CA, San Diego, CA, Houston, TX, Seattle, WA … I could keep going but you get the point. Vietnamese cuisine is, hands down, my favorite. I was probably Viet in my past life and consider myself a PHO connoisseur. Or, you can just call me a PHOSNOB, because I am. I just moved to the area and was so excited to find this«VietSpot.» From the other reviews, it seems this place was previously named Quynh’s and Nicky’s. I finally tried their traditional Banh Mi and was very disappointed once I opened the bag to find out it is definitely not the traditional banh mi that I am used to. They use a different kind of bread, not the traditional french baguette and the meat, oh god. It’s some kind of ground up pork, very much on the dry side. The classic version that I am used to, «banh mi thit nguoi» or «banh mi dac biet» aka«special combo», is made with various Vietnamese cold cuts along with the liver pâté. This was what I was expecting. THREEGOODTHINGS I NOTICED: 1 — Very generous with portions. My sandwich was overflowing with pickled carrots. Someone got just a little too happy making that sandwich. 2 — Vietnamese people making the food(not that it means much but it does carry some weight) 3 — Vietnamese Iced Coffee served here! I’m not much of a coffee drinker because quite frankly, coffee doesn’t do anything for me. But on the rare occasion when I need a pick me up, Vietnamese coffee aka«Café Da» is pretty freaking strong(and sweet) and will do the trick. I am disappointed that as New Yorkers we have such high standards for everything else but when it comes to Vietnamese food, we are okay to settling for mediocre. UPDATEDTO3STARS I have ordered the PHO — to go — keep in mind that I live right around the corner and was pleasantly surprised since my standards were set pretty low. The broth was okay but I was impressed with the amount of meat with my order. Thumbs up on the portions. Overall, it did fulfill my craving and soothe my hangover

Got phở. It didn’t even come with a soup spoon. Tasted alright. Wouldn’t come again.

Walked over and ordered the Porkchop Banh Mi to go, when asked I said Medium for spice level. Got back to my office about 10 minute walk. Sandwich is above average. Pork was great. I like the flavors of the vegetables, porkchop and the bread. Could be spicier for me. Next time will say so. Small place, best to order to go or if eating alone. I wouldn’t attempt a party of 3 or 4 to stay. Sandwich was ready in under 10 minutes. For $ 8.25 out the door this is now on my rotating list of permanent lunch options. Will be back next week to order Phở or Bun to go. I haven’t reviewed in a minute, but there was this lady causing a scene about having to wait 20 minutes, harassing the staff and telling people in the short line to be prepared to wait. She had ordered 4 – 5 things including some soups. Not a nice person/customer. Also if you go anywhere down here for lunch at 1:00 you can expect a line/wait time.

This used to be a stellar go to place for Vietnamese food in FIDI. Ever since the ownership changed hands, it took a turn for the worse. Started serving phở out of cardboard bowls with flimsy and cheap plastic spoons and forks. Phở broth now tastes watered down, a fraction of the flavor profile of its former self. Save your money and go somewhere else

Stopped by to try the pork banh mi and it was very mediocre… but service was friendly. — the bread was not the norm french baguette you get at other banh mi joints. It was more italian but bad italian… soft on the outside and inside. — bread to filling ratio was off. Not enough filling… — overall it was bland Willing to give their phở a try but not expecting much…

Like a piece of tenderized meat, after being bombarded over and over and over again, eventually softening up/becoming tender… so too have I began to loosen up with the strict scrutiny I impose on Vietnamese joints in the city. I’ve yet to have a bowl of phở here in NYC that’s up to par with anything I’ve tasted in Philadelphia… but I suppose I should(try to, at least) start judging NYC Vietnamese food by NYC standards. Sure, this place is in FiDi. Sure, a bowl of phở is two or three more dollars than a bowl should rightfully be priced(same can be said of the banh mi pricing). Sure a bowl of soup is served in a tiny bowl that you can actually finish without too much effort(it should be a struggle to finish a bowl for shear quantity alone). While the joint doesn’t exactly pass muster on the procedural end(as far as pricing and sizing is concerned), substantively, the wares offered at this joint aren’t terrible. The phở is tasty, they actually give lime(s) with the soup, and a few jalapenos; plenty of places don’t give these. The banh mi tastes fine, but it could use some more pâté… or the pâté could be a bit tastier(it’s pretty much used as a textural component rather than as a flavor enhancement, which makes me sad). However, seeing as this is one of the only Vietnamese food options in FiDi(or Asian food option for that matter), I know that I’ll be back here my fair share of times on my lunch break if I’m too lazy to make the walk to Chinatown to get my Asian food fix.

I just tried the Traditional Vietnamese sandwich and it was disappointing. I should have known from the pictures I saw posted here. It was dry and boring. There wasn’t much flavor at all. With each bite, I kept hoping it would get better and it didn’t. There use to be another Vietnamese sandwich spot on Nassau street that was on point. Too bad they closed down a few years ago.

Not the best but it’s fine. The price and the quality not bad. They changed something in the store but i like it. I went there many times with my friends in the company. We r working in Wall st so Quynh’s banh mi is the good choice for us. Actually i dont like the girl who stand as cashier. She always says: Call you later, it was not polite and not friendly, i think. But when i came the last week, they changed the cashier. The owner did a good job to hire this girl doing the cashier. She was pretty, sweet voice with dimples. Nice appearance and good attitude. She always smile. You guys can see her around 12pm. I am not sure that she works all day because she looks too young. By the way, i will come back later to try a new food and see her. ;)

This is the first time that I went here under new ownership. I was sick and my coworker was like, «Get some phở. Isn’t it to your people like what matzo ball soup to Jewish people like yours?» «Great idea. Deuces.» I bounced and stopped here on my way home, hoping to douse myself in the elixir of phở broth spices and the various greens and herbs(bean sprouts, basil, cilantro, peppers, lime, and a bunch of others that I only know how to say in Vietnamese). The phở came and their version of greens on the side was shredded lettuce. Was this some sort of sick joke? I’ve never seen such phuckery in my life. Perhaps the staff’s banter in Cantonese was hiding the fact that they were out of proper phở ingredients. As for the phở itself, it was a totally underwhelming broth with not much meat. Looks like I’ll have to go to Queens or the Bronx next time for anything resembling phở.

Meh pretty much sums it up. It was my first time and when I asked the cashier a question about the menu, she answered me rudely, then ended up not having the dish anyway. I had the shrimp phở soup and a summer roll instead. I’ve had better of both elsewhere. The phở noodles were mostly all stuck to the bottom of the cardboard bowl it was served in, and the summer roll was two shrimps and a lot of iceberg lettuce. Most frustratingly, they don’t have any soup spoons, so I tried for five minutes to spoon out the broth with a teaspoon before just giving up and going back to the office.

I ordered two of the Traditional sandwiches, which are the Bahn Mi. I ordered one with extra meat, because I went on a run today, and my tummy demands more food. I ordered a regular Traditional for hubs, because, well, he didn’t run. I really wanted to love this place, because they are close by, and sometimes, I get a craving for Vietnamese food. But, the sandwiches were ok, not special. It would have taken very little effort to make these sandwiches delicious — maybe some pickled daikon, a little more cilantro, something, anything to perk up this rather dry, unremarkable sandwich. My sandwich was over $ 11, because I asked for the extra meat. So, that is $ 4 more than the regular sandwich. I am okay with spending the extra money, but would have liked to actually have gotten more than a spoonful of ground pork for my extra $ 4. Really. So, I am giving this place three stars, instead of the actual two stars the food deserved, because the delivery came fast. The bread was fresh. I just wish I could have been more excited about the sandwich.

Just ordered lunch to go from here since I was really craving good asian noodle soup aka phở. Looked up this place on Unilocal and it looked promising. Noooo regrets. Ordered beef phở and a vietnamese coffee. Like another person said the soup is super hot which can cook your beef, which is stored separately(I always appreciate that extra thought) Needless to say I devoured everything. Delicious and exactly what I needed. I’ll definitely be back to try out their sandwiches. BYTHEWAYTHEYTAKECARDNOW. Unilocal needs to be updated. They also have café du monde coffee stacked nicely in a corner behind the counter. Not sure if they sell this separately but they must put that in the coffee. A++++ since I love café du monde.

I love this place. Not saying that it’s my favorite place for Vietnamese food, but the bread is fresh and sandwiches are tasty. I’ve tried the traditional, shrimp, and pork chop banh mi so far. The pork was marinated surprisingly well(tasted similar to Chinese spare ribs, but better quality of course). The traditional is yummy too, albeit a bit messy to eat. Good veggies. Shrimp, however, is a new item so maybe they haven’t perfected it yet, but it had this weird barbeque sauce I didn’t think went well with the shrimp, and it was really messy too. All in all, great job, And good costumer service.

Sorry, only two stars from this guy. I ordered the bahn mi with pork during lunch and was more than disappointed with the sandwich. Bread was soft and crunch enough, so that’s good. Meat was not so flavorful and was bit too soggy. Veggie was fresh, but didn’t add too much. What really tired me over to two stars was the hair I found in the sandwich. It was mixed in with the meat and looked like it’s been sitting there for a while… Sorry, that’s just not acceptable.

I was delighted when I came across this little cute Vietnamese shop near work… I really wanted their food to taste good & to save me from the misery of eating chipotle everyday, but that didn’t happen. Their springrolls were SOBLAND and I expected the order to be served with the hoisin peanut butter sauce, but was given fish sauce. Bahn Mi ehhhhhhhhhh. The phở was most disappointing… not only was it $ 9 for a beef bowl phở, it tasted like pepper soup. literally!

What a find! Came on a freezing cold day where all you want is a big bowl of phở. Mostly takeout, but have a couple tiny tables that seat 2 people. Family run establishment — go small business! Phở has a great flavor to it. Beef or chicken are the only options. Sandwiches seem to be a hit. Will have to come back to try.

The place has been renamed to Quynh’s. Somebody needs to let Unilocal know. Okay, I guess I will do it. On a cold, wintery day I convinced Lisa J to walk downstairs from the office over to Quynh’s for lunch. She almost never leaves the office! I order my usual Beef Phở with extra jalapenos and she ordered a chicken banh mi. It took literally 20 minutes for my take out order to be ready! There were tons of people inside this hole in the wall, escaping the wintery NYC weather. I don’t blame them. A hot bowl of Phở is just what the doctor ordered to survive this winter. WINTERISCOMING. Alas, my name was called and we approached the counter to pick up our food. The beef phở was A-OK. They separate the broth from the noodles and beef. The soup was still piping hot from the time they loaded it into the container and when we got back to the office. All of the ingredients cooked perfectly in the the broth and I was very satisfied after devouring the entire contents of the container. Lisa’s sandwich on the other hand, wasn’t chicken! It was pork. They messed up the order and gave her porkchop instead but no worries, it was still good. No points lost for this mix-up. For the super lazy, order via SeamlessWeb or Grubhub. They deliver! I shall return again because Chinatown is too far away. This is the closest Phở joint next to the office. Just stay away during the lunch time rush. CASHONLY!

The location has changed to Quynh’s. As I walked in, I was met with an amazing smell. It was probably the phở. I ordered the pork chops and summer rolls. As I waited, everyone who came in after me ordered the chicken phở. Newbie mistake. The pork chops were delicious! Not dry and barbecued. The summer rolls sucked. They’re mostly rice noodles with three shrimp. 2 rolls for $ 5.

I found this quaint sandwich shop on the way to school. By first glance you would miss the shop, but I was intrigued by the long line. I ordered a spicy chicken banh mi. It was around $ 7 and the portion was very good. The flavor overall was savory. I ordered a Thai Ice Tea Bubble Tea to go. The meal all in all was very delicious! The cashier with the glasses, I believe her name was Vicky, was very courteous and efficient. 10⁄10 would recommend and come again!
