I want to make sure that all are clear, this is NOT the VL Studio on 7th Ave in Chelsea of the same name. I can’t speak to this place on Christopher St., but, the place on 7th Ave is great! There’s another Unilocal review for that location.

Only go here if you want to look like you cut your hair yourself in a drunken stupor. I once got a good haircut here, so I decided to go back. Huge mistake. They butchered me. Didn’t pay attention to what I asked for (which was a trim). They cut three inches off my head! Damage was done in five minutes. And they gave me the weirdest long whisps of hair in front for some insane reason. No one would ever ask for the look they gave me, unless they were being held at gunpoint and forced to humiliate themselves for some psycho’s amusement. Total hack job.

i just cut my hair here for $ 13 and it was great I am very satisfied. I think his name was Sam. He doesn’t use the machine and finish it in 2 minutes, he spent like 10 – 15 min and took his time. will go there again.

The people here have issues… I asked to briefly use their restroom and then get a haircut. The barber was nasty and demanded I sit in the chair right near the door, on a freezing cold day! The other chairs were open but for some strange reason demanded I sit near the door. I told him politely I would take my business to the haircutting place down the street instead. He got even nastier and told me I came by just to use their restroom, which was not true! Both these guys were really nasty and unprofessional. I came during a weekday.
Never coming back here… Going to W. Village haircuts instead! =)

Okay, I was tired of paying a lot for an average haircut in the past, so I went to super cuts and have done so for a while, but my guy left. so that ended that. I figured I would try this spot, as its on Christopher St, and what better place to get a nice cut, as I’m sure they do all the boys. I would say I get a good clean cut, nothing fancy or edgy! Its convenient, close to transit, and reasonable price. The guy takes his time, he is quiet and does not talk much which is fine. One thing that kinda scares me, is Im not sure how often they clean the scissor dunk them in that blue stuff. But, hey, there are worst things that are not cleaned in NYC, right?

I got my hair cut here not too long ago and liked it enough that I am going back this weekend. I have long hair that I style lots of different ways, so all I need is a basic, straight cut. Humberto is really nice and does a great job for $ 12 — even better than $ 40+ cuts I have had. How can you beat that?

This is the WORST barber in the city. The owner cut my hair and was genuinely rude, unfriendly, unskilled, and showed no concern for what he was doing.
I do not normally post reviews but this place was incredibly bad. You’re better off cutting your own hair in the dark with a hedger.
