Isaac’s Barber Shop

I visited Isaac today at his new barber shop location just a block North along the avenue from his previous one. It’s a clean welcoming space that is comfortable and well laid out. I had a short wait to see Isaac for my haircut today — it’s always worth the wait and that is rarely ever very long at all. Isaac works at a calm pace and always gives me full attention and attends to all the details. He has always listened carefully to any particular concerns and always successfully addresses these when necessary. I have arrived several minutes before closing on several occasions and Isaac has always graciously invited me in to receive my usual haircut without any sense of rush at all. That is the way of a true professional who recognizes client loyalty and greatly deserves mine and yours.

WTF!!! If Isaac is the owner he needs to hire some new damn barbers!!! Can’t even fathom how pissed off I am right now! The moron didn’t even try and listen to what I was saying before he chopped off my entire beard. He literally took a clipper and trimmed the entire thing off!!! And then he couldn’t even fix it or line it up properly. AND to top it off, they had the nerve to tell me «SORRY, But ITS JUST A BEARD.» You’re job is just HAIRCUTS!!! DONT EVER GO HERE!

Isaac has always done a fantastic job. He makes it look effortless. I am in and out in 20 minutes max and get a great haircut for $ 15 – 20. Hard to beat in NYC.

I’m leaving Dominique Ansel kitchen and I see pictures of Anderson Cooper in the window of this barber shop. Me personally, I think the guy looks like a demented alien! I need a haircut but don’t make me look like this guy.
I walk in and there is no wait. I sit and tell the barber EXACTLY how I want my hair cut. No Anderson Cooper styles thankyouverymuch.
The guy takes out a damn buzzer and starts buzzing the sides. Now you may think whats the big deal but to me I notice my hair doesn’t grow back evenly on the sides. If he would have used the thinning scissors I’d be up out of the chair.
Another customer walks in with a big German Shepard. He asks the dog owner if he can play with his dog. Um. focus on me sparky!
He’s finished and I’m liking the new haircut. Not too bad. The other barber (Is it Isaac?) he asked me where do I get my haircut? I tell him and all of a sudden he whips out pictures of my barber. And he had hair at the time! ha ha
He gives me a punch card. Come back 4 more times and the next cut is free. To me, that’s like winning on a scratch off. I’m *MR PUNCH CARD*!
I’ll be back to collect my free haircut, you can count on me filling up the card. There is great coffee as well as the bakery. It’s a trifecta in my world

i went back to my old barber and now i will travel out of my way in the rain to see him. I had a good experience for a couple years at this place but after the man shaved my head when i went in for a haircut i can’t go back. It a shame too because its close to my job but, for a man, a good haircut and trusting the guy doing it, means everything.

Worst hair cut of my life. It’s shocking that a celebrity would choose to go to this establishment. When shaping up my sideburns the careless barber wasn’t paying attention and took a huge chuck out of the hair on back of my head with the buzzer. I should have taken a picture to show how bad this truly was. He even had the nerve to still charge me for his «service». I wouldn’t go back even if someone paid me. With many other options in the area its shocking that he still has a business.

I’ve been a customer for five years and I highly recommend them.

Though I live in the upstate Catskill Mts., I get into the city frequently. I try to time my visits so that when I need a haircut, I can go to Isaac. Been doing this for many years. He knows my story and that my historic house was seriously damaged by Hurricane Irene’s food waters. Isaac always asks how the house is coming along. Simply, Isaac is a good and personable guy.

I’ve been coming to see Isaac for many years now on a regular basis –at both his old place on the North end of the same block and now at his more spacious barbershop in the middle of the block. I’ve had nothing but excellent haircuts every single time –and I’m here every three or four weeks. Isaac runs an efficient shop and although at busy times there will be several people waiting for him, it’s always worth my time to wait for my turn to get a precise masculine cut that suits me so well! Anderson Cooper makes it his regular routine and I’m happy to add Isaac to my regular routine also! Isaac is personable and listens carefully to any concerns I have and is able to change my style from time to time and in different seasons. I refer friends to him all the time and my partner is also a devoted regular. He does a great job trimming my goatee and attends to every last little hair out of place –including those pesky hairs that start to show up in odd places as we age! He has my top recommendations. Thank you Isaac! Having a reliable go to barber makes that aspect of grooming so easy. Philip

He has a sign in the window that says «Shave $ 14». Seperately, on the opposing side of the store front is a sign saying, «Haircut, seniors $ 14». I got a shave and was told it was $ 16. I pointed out that the sign in the window said $ 14 and he claimed that was for seniors, on Wednesdays. He then pulls up a set of blinds inside that reveal a hidden price list upon which it says $ 16 for a shave. I laughed at the audacity of this bold face sham and lie. The sign is still there months later. The shave was only fair.

Nothing is more frustrating than a barber that doesn’t listen to the customer and then proceeds to provide a one size fits all haircut. That was my most recent experience here though prior experiences, with a different barber, were more positive. Thus the 3 stars — 5 stars for one, 1 star for the other.

I have gone to Dina for years and followed her when she moved from her previous barber shop. She always gives me a great haircut and always makes for a good conversation. I have recommended many people to go see her.

Very Good first hair cut, appreciate a loyalty card. I’ll hopefully fill it up before I lose the rest of my hair!

I used to go to this barber shop for years before moving out of NY for a while. I recently moved back and came back to Yan for my regular, normal, quick, efficient, and cost effective male haircut. No one tussles my locks, there’s no leave in conditioner, there’s just an awesome Eastern European man that will make you look like a man too. The haircut is just as good as ever, so leave a good tip.

I’ve been going there for years — the old place and now the new one. I’ve always left happy with one exception. They got a new guy recently and I wound up stuck with him. A younger guy. But the other guys have been nothing but great for me over the years.

hey if Anderson Cooper goes there every other week its good for the rest of us.
