We had the Sazerac and Sherry Cobbler, both the re-released version, cocktails here are good but I’d say it’s pretty pricy for the area– $ 15 each My favorite will be the jalapeño hush puppies! Only wish there were more jalapeños mixed in so it’s hotter~

Bartender who claims to «owns the records» makes your experience absolutely unenjoyable. Despite the drink being amazing, his presence makes you wish you wish you were at a local dinner listening to la Bouche with a glass of water at a local diner.

Wandering around Stone Street on a Friday night looking for a decently priced spot with a quiet venue. Wanted to try the Growler but there was a 30 minute wait — while waiting we noticed the sign for Underdog downstairs. Unassuming place that reminds you of a speakeasy. Dimly lit, with interesting décor and menu. Pricey cocktails so settled on a a draft beer($ 8) and a couple snacks — Roasted Cauliflower($ 10) and Jalapeño Hushpuppies($ 9). I expected the plates to be small as it’s basically bar food, however the portions are actually quite large. Cauliflower was crisped on the outside and moist inside like well-cooked meat. The puppies were breaded well but didn’t have that jalapeño kick, so we asked for hot sauce and they brought out two types that went well with each dish. Bartender here is quite nice, and efficient despite all the patrons. He even gave me a free cocktail on the house(given that it was $ 15, much appreciated). I really liked the ambiance of this spot, yet can get crowded pretty quickly.

Cozy underground speak-easy with no fuss drinks and cocktails and a dark candle-lit atmosphere that really helps you loosen up and enjoy yourself. Service is fast and efficient, because the place really centers around the bar and is tiny enough for just 2 bartenders to take care of everyone. Wings were delicious, I just wish they had fries to go along with it. Underdog seems to be a hole-in-the wall that not too many people know about yet. I came here for a quick happy hour drink and nosh after work on a Thursday and it wasn’t packed at all. Compared to all the other above-ground bars on Stone Street, I considered that a big plus! I’d definitely come back here for a few more cocktails and scotches!

Great cocktails and great ambiance! The service from Chris was wonderful. Amazing vibe for anyone looking for a chill place to go with vinyl music and true speakeasy vibe.

I really enjoyed myself in this place. It is a cocktail bar and the adventure they take you on is wonderful. The drinks are delicious and we wound up having a great conversation with the bartender. This is the kind of place you get a drink you SIP and you have a conversation, just what one needs to relax. It is a small space with some lounge type areas for a larger group, otherwise just a hidden gem in the heart of stone street.

Nice vibe, tasty drinks, good sliders, great date spot. NOT good for groups. There is only one comfortable spot for a party of 4 to sit so don’t even try to squeeze your bachelor/ette party in here, PLEASE!

This and The Dead Rabbit are pretty much the only two bars I like in Financial District. They’ve got a modernized Tiki Bar theme going, but more of a chill vibe than the dearly departed Painkiller. I’m a fan of the vibe and the drinks, will definitely be back.

I have not eaten here, I have had the bar food upstairs and it is good. But these drinks are the best in the city. Atmosphere is very cool, and try one of their milk punches, cause they are the best.

Very cool speak-easy esque spot. Docking one star for the prices(come on, $ 14 cocktails? this isn’t Tribeca) and one star because we arrived to a fairly empty spot on a Saturday evening but were told we couldn’t sit at the bar because a bunch of reservations were coming in. After we sat down in the corner, the host/bartender/waiter came over and told us it was fine to move to the bar since it was open… confusing. I had some deliciously spicy«Moscow Mule» esque drink and my boyfriend ordered a gin gimlet. The bartender had no problems making the gimlet even though it was off the menu and I LOVED my drink. It’s sort of similar to Dead Rabbit but more of a low-key, secretive spot. Will definitely return for after work drinks, and maybe I’ll even come back on a weekend.

Fidi can definitely use a few more mixology speciality cocktail bars. Underdog almost has a speak easy feel since it is underneath Growlers. I was brought by a friend last Saturday night and we enjoyed a few cocktails. The drinks were made well and the server was polite and aided us with all our questions and provided great recommendations.

Fantastic cocktails!!! Was sent by someone in the industry(would have never known it was there as it is down the stairs from the Growler). Wound up enjoying it so much we went back the next night. Several sections to the drink menu, all cocktails were well balanced and interesting. Place is small but cosy and intimate — the fact they spin vinyl records makes it all the better. Different bartenders on the two nights but both were more than happy to answer our questions about ingredients, the first night we had a long conversation about restaurants we had mutually been to — very insightful. Cocktails ranged from $ 12-$ 15 but are made by pros — well worth the money for delicately crafted drinks.

I’m honestly confused. Came here on a Saturday night to join a group of 12 or so for a goodbye party. There are maybe two other people in the bar not in the party when we arrive. We were immediately greeted by a manager, a short angry man with a beard and glasses, who refused to provide us with seats, telling us to stand by the bar because«there are too many people here.» Ok – except when we order at the bar and try to pay, he refuses to give us a separate check, saying«your drinks are on their tab; you’re clearly with them.» Even though he wouldn’t, you know, let us talk to them or stand near them.(This was, of course, because there’s a mandatory 20% gratuity on a party of 6 or more.) Seriously — your bar is entirely empty on a Saturday. You’re not stoked to have a bunch of paying customers come in and order a few drinks apiece? The asinine service is an entirely separate issue from the horrendously overpriced and disgusting cocktails they’re selling. $ 14 a pop, and I’m not sure anyone had anything they’d come back for. This is Dead Rabbit without any of the adept recipes. The Breukelen Egg Cream tasted like skim milk and club soda, tossed in with mystery alcohol. The long list of fizzes had 8 – 10 mysterious ingredients apiece(lots of googling by all involved), but tasted generically sweet and bubbly, like something your sister’s snooty boyfriend would make before a dinner party. Just awful. Cocktails are great, just not here. Not ever here. Hate to start off the New Year with such a negative review, but this place so deserves it.
