Small and good ambiance, food is OK, food for take out was cold, fries and burger needed some seasoning, not worth the price.

Reliable and excellent — I order the soup of the day without even asking what it is, it’s that reliably good.

All the brunch items come with a complementary side, and while the waiters cordially asked all the other customers what they’d like as the side, they did not ask me. I’m not one to pull the race card, but I was the only one of a different race in the restaurant so I can’t help but wonder if that had anything to do with it. As for the food, I would give it a 2 star rating for value. It’s right in the middle for quality but not worth the price. Nothing unique that you couldn’t get elsewhere for cheaper or better.

Amazing food. Small little café with sandwiches, pasta and sagrias! Servers are very nice. Limited seating but I would definitely return :) We had the chicken parmigiana and the vodka penne. Both amazing. Would love to try more dishes :)

I found this place via google maps by searching«brunch». When I saw this place from the outside, I already felt that this would be a lovely place with authentic food. I had the Western Burrito, which was just the best. Perfect for Lunch/Brunch, but also as a snack. Just amaaaazing. My friend got the Grilled Chicken Club Sandwich, that was nothing special but still very tasty. If You come here You definately get sth with the Guacamole, cause you won’t find one as such in any place. The server was chill, not too friendly but also not annoying. It’s a casual place so that’s okey. I just like server that are authentic and he was it so thats great. I am definitely coming back to explore the menu more!

Based on my experience eating at the restaurant, I’d give Trufa four stars(taking one off only for service that was a bit lagging considering we were one of only two tables). The food is simple but nicely prepared and presented at prices only slightly higher than what you’ll find at a diner. I had a taste tonight for their French fries Provençal(which bowled me over on my previous visit), but Blizzard Jonas left me feeling under the weather so I decided to order in. The portobello mushroom burger listed on the Seamless menu(I’ll post a pic) clearly states that the sandwich comes with French fries Provençal. But when my order arrived… no, they were just plain, limp, naked fries, miserable in their lack of adornment. Figuring it to be a mistake, I promptly called Trufa, only to be told that sandwiches don’t come with the Provençal fries(lies, I tell you! they came with the salmon sandwich I had last month). I politely informed the staff member that the Seamless menu lists otherwise only to be issued a curt«it’s wrong» and then a shockingly harsh dial tone. Seamless took care of me, of course, but I remain French fries Provençal-less, which is even worse off than I was before ordering. At least then I didn’t have the disappointment of expecting them and receiving, instead, their bare, forlorn cousins.

The young, tall, host has got to go. This is not the first time I’ve noticed his laziness. He didn’t even give us the specials menu. The older, shorter host is more on top of things. We were seated 20 minutes ago and the younger host just gave us bread… with no plates. He also served my entrée(calamari and clams) without a plate to put my shells in. I’m not holding my breath that any of the plates will come. The food is generally decent. I’m just surprised that this guy hasn’t been fired yet…

I walked into the restaurant and felt heat all around me. The open kitchen had every burner blasting and everything chest high felt hot and suffocating. Then I sat down and everything was strangely fine. Spanish music played in the background, then the Velvet Underground, then Alicia Keys. This is a weird place. But, I think I liked it. 7 tables surround the cook’s workstation, as he slowly slings pasta and sandwiches. I have only had the chicken club, a safe option to say the least. The fries were crisp, the bread crusty, and the food warm and fresh. I’d return to try the other options though it does feel a bit pricey for the neighborhood. Relative to the restaurants surrounding it, Trufa is a solid find.

Trufa, disappointed. They had seafood saffron risotto as their special tonight. I asked server for the special menu to see the price. It is listed as 12. So I ordered it and later the server told me that it is just a number of serving they serve on that day. So… Special. And selling only 12 of that risotto for a entire day? The server tells me it is 17 dollars. I was like okay since the dish has«saffron» in it. I ordered. It came out pretty fast. The display of the dish was just okay. Three clams, several rings of calamari, and about 4 – 5 shrimps. The rice: definitely mushy, had too much starch flavor, I can only scent or taste a very small bit of saffron. Shrimps: they were actually cooked thorough and seasoned pretty good. Calamari was soft. Clams were undercooked, chewed a bit of sand from them. Tasted fishy. Wonder if they were fresh. The main problem is that it seems like they just cooked calamari, shrimps, and clams and the rice separately. The risotto did have any flavor from clams. Shrimp did not absorb any flavor from the stock or anything they used to make the risotto. Not going back there in near future.

(About Delivery here.) I used to order from this place all the time(literally once or twice a week) until a REALLYRUDEANDAGGRESSIVE delivery guy, & incompetent manager response, permanently ruined this restaurant for me. Their Trufa burger is delicious, it’s the main thing worth having on the menu, but MOSTIMPORTANTLY their delivery guys would always come upstairs directly to our door without an issue. Rare in the neighborhood. Recently they must have added some new jerk to their delivery staff, who refused to come upstairs despite that literally NEVER being a problem before. When we tried to get him to explain why on earth this was suddenly an issue, he hung up in the middle of the conversation and called HIS manager back at the restaurant, who then called US to explain FORHIM how he couldn’t possibly come upstairs, he was scared his bike would get stolen(lmao, RACIST). I was furious. Bring the bike with you then, are you kidding me? As a delivery guy your job is to DELIVER. And now I have to listen to this crap? I had them bring the food back to Trufa, got a full refund, and had to cross off a restaurant I previously loved. Obviously if management is more interested in providing excuses for why their employees can’t do their job and harassing customers with that kind of nonsense over the phone, you can’t really trust what else might be happening there either. But I’m sure all the Columbia students get their deliveries just fine.

We visited Trufa when making a visit to a nearby store. We were looking for a good lunch place and Trufa came up on Unilocal. When we walked in we were greeted by a very friendly host that also doubles as a waiter and runs the kitchen. I guess he’s the owner. Each of us ordered a completely different entrée, so we got to experience a few specialties and they all tasted excellent. First, a meat stew with gnocchi. The stew was flavorful and gnocchi was excellent and not over or undercooked. Next, we had the eggs benedict with the salmon. The eggs were just right and the hollandaise was delish. It really worked well together and was one of the best executed eggs benedict I tasted for a while. Lastly, was my dish. I had the California Burger. When I first got it looked great, but as I was eating it I found that despite ordering it Medium, it arrived well done and dry as a dessert. When the waiter came by to check on our progress I told him the Hamburger was well done. He offered to replace it if I had time, which I did. I returned it and after a few minutes got another full new portion. This time around the burger was excellent. Medium and juicy while having a smoky bbq flavor. Finally, the check arrived and the damage was OK — although a little on the higher side(New York, New York). Average entrée about $ 15 plus tax. All in all an excellent food that seems to have the basics right on the food side and the service side. Loved it.

I was running on empty and needed something to eat. So as I got off at 137th Street stop I walked around the neighborhood. One thing I have learned over time is not to act off of impulse cause this saves a lot of grief and heartburn… ugggh. So I spied this location and it had a favorable rating. When I saw beet salad with grilled chicken my thoughts were like yea thats the ticket. The salad was very well prepared with plenty of greens, a nice grilled skinless chicken cutlet laying on top. The balsamic dressing added a nice even flavoring, there was even a boiled egg sliced and covering the rim of the plate. I thought the egg wouldnt go well with the salad before I placed my order. But this false premonition was laid to rest when my mouth tasted the well balanced freshly made salad. There werent many beets as I had a imagined. Just a few slices, this would have made the salad superb in my opinion if more were added. I think beets are under-rated. There were bits of bacon scattered about not much that added a little salty flavor. Over all a worthy destination if you ever uptown and dont wanna settle on fast food cause there is a lot of that all around. Service was friendly and prompt which is always a good thing.

Not a bad place to meet up for brunch. Very good atmosphere. The food is good although i wouldn’t say it is special. I had the grilled pork loin. It was ok. A little bland for $ 16. Contrary to what some other reviews say. They do have WiFi here.

So glad I was in the area and was able to try this place. The staff is very friendly and so helpful. Great people working here. Came on a Saturday for brunch. The food here is AMAZING! I had one of the specials forgot what it was called but it was basically a fat crispy buttery grilled ham and cheese sandwich with two Sunnyside up eggs on top. SOGOOD! Swiss cheese delicious ham and eggs with a crispy crust on the bread. The only downside is that this restaurant is comically small. So don’t plan on a private meal because you’re going to be eating with everyone in the restaurant. There’s only like 6 tables here. If someone has to use the bathroom half of the restaurant has to get up hahah. I thought it was hilarious. That being said the staff here is very accommodating to this fact and knows how to handle the space well. Overall it’s a great place and a must try in my book!

I was starting to become a BIGFAN of Trufa. Never been there in person to speak on in-house service. I know every place you order from can’t be perfect… But, if I’m paying my money for it, «I expect it to be spot on» or damn close! Let me say; Love the«Classic Italian Tuna Sandwich!» The«Calamari,» ok… depending on who the cook is and the time of day it’s ordered I guess… However it’s cooked… I don’t expect long strands of human hair to be in it. «Might I suggest, hair nets?!» Like I said I don’t expect PERFECTION but, I’d like to know an feel I’m eating with a peace of mind that my food was prepared with the upmost care!!! The«Delivery-Service» definitely needs to be revamped and overhauled!!!

I just moved to the neighborhood(literally late last night) and was starvin’ Marvin’. Unwilling to unpack(I need *ATLEAST* 6 – 10 months for that, come on!) I quickly Unilocaled nearby vegan options. Luckily I found Trufa, who has many omnivorous and vegan /vegetarian dishes alike! We ordered pick-up, and drudged our way through back pain and muscle aches the grueling three blocks from my house. Upon arriving, we notice it has a very nice interior, elegant and quaint. Apologizing to the server, I ask if we can eat there instead, but were totally fine with eating off the to-go containers(explaining I just moved). She politely and enthusiastically sat us and re-plated our food beautifully maintaining a polite and pleasant attitude. We ordered the portobello mushroom burger with pesto, red onions, lettuce –sans avocado on a toasted multigrain(had option for a sprouted brioche I believe?) which also came with a side of fries. Second dish, which I had more than my fair share of was gnocchi and mushrooms in a house-made red sauce(originally with beef, we ordered without + extra mushrooms instead). Let’s not forget about the full bar and housemade sangria using Broquel Malbec!
