Best truck tacos south of the 96th Street/Broadway truck. Go for the carne enchilada or al pastor, have a Jarritos with it, and that’s a great $ 5 lunch!

Daaaayam, Mexican food be gittin good in nyc! Carnitas was… AWESOME. So moist and flavorful. $ 2? Huh? For rizzo? Not as good as Patty’s b/c less accoutrements(i.e. no mole or salsa sauce), but at this price point, a winner. I also got a lengua burrito. WOW! The tongue was so tender. I loved it so much i was variously making out with the tongue and eating it at the same time. YUM. A $ 6 burrito? Huh? They could definitely improve some things, like chopping up the tomatoes instead of lazy tomato slices, or more evenly distributing the beans instead of clumped at the ends. But for 6 bucks, it’s hard to complain. Stuffed after 1 taco and half a burrito.(Later, I had the al pastor and chorizo taco, which were both very good also — not as good as the carnitas or lengua tho imo). Location: They are on 20th street btw Broadway and 5th avenue(nr SE corner). On weekdays from breakfast time(they serve breakfast too), until 6pm, they says. I saw them Saturday on 5th avenue tho in the afternoon, so i’m not sure what that means for their weekend schedule. First time I ordered they got half my order wrong. Was fine b/c the meat turned out to be even better. Second time, the third taco had some sandy grit in it. Not sure what the heck that is, but hopefully a one-off. Will come back for the meat explosion in mouth and low pricing.

This truck has actually moved to Queens. In the most random of locations. It is on the corner of Van Dam Street and Queens Boulevard right next to LaGuardia Community College in LIC. The tostadas are ridiculously good and the burritos are too. I recommend the al pastor and the chorizo like someone else recommended as well. The spicy pork is also solid though not as good as the others.

Dear truck, We miss you and your de-lish quesadillas! «This truck is DY-NO-MITE! Where did it go? It breaks my heart; I’ve been jilted by my beloved truck. I may start drinking…» FF Truck if you’re reading this, come back to 20th and B’way. love, 137.

Was very excited to try, as it’s somewhat close to work. Having grown up in SoCal and AZ, some of the best Mex eateries are found in the simplest places(trucks and stands included). Ordered a carne asada burrito. They did everything right in terms of customer service. I asked for no rice and it wasn’t there. They asked if I wanted salsa added to the inside, which is key for a burrito to go. Even when I worked in downtown LA, you had to remember to ask for salsa on the«inside» otherwise you had to hold a burrito in one hand and drizzle sauce with the other as you ate your way down the tube of food. I had two minor issues with TRI. First, the burrito was too moist after my 7 block walk. By the time I was at my desk, it was falling apart. Secondly, there was no bold flavor or dominant ingredient. Just a mix/medley. No heat. No veggie kick. No profound starch(good beans). And the beef, while not fatty or grisly, was also not memorable. But hey, their overall operation looked good and will try it again for tacos and other small bites.

They say you are what you eat and if that’s the case, I think I will soon be a big fat taco. or a torta. I haven’t figured out what I want to be when I grow up but I’ll decide once I eat my way through the menu at the TRI Taco Truck! Imagine my delight as I spot this truck during one my many aimless walks through Flatiron trying to decide what to eat for lunch and a big fuck yeah when I see the tacos are $ 2 — cheaper than some trucks in Queens. *swoon*. Yes my fellow Flatiron workers, we can now rejoice that there is a wonderful lunch option under $ 10(or if you eat like a bird, $ 5) That Mexican chain 2 blocks down with their $ 10 burritos can now suck it! The tacos are very delicious, not overly salty. The Al Pastor is moist and tender, the chorizo, crisp and well seasoned. The guy will politely ask«spicy»? Nod your head if you like to sweat because that sauce is HOT. My spice tolerance sucks but it’s a thrill. As Bourdain said the other night, «I like nuclear hot. Burns going in, burns going out kind of thing.» The warm tortillas are packed with meat, onions & cilantro. Limes and radishes are provided as well if that’s your preference. There is other Mexican fare offered that I have yet to try but I’m sure with this new affordable lunch option, I shall make my way through the menu quite quickly.
