Such nice, friendly service! I went with the trio taco special and unfortunately the pork and the chicken were too dry. Rice and beans lacked true flavor. Maybe because I was here later in evening it wasn’t as good.

I may have to say I love Tres Carnes a little more than Chipotle(don’t tell them that…). A veggie bowl is about the same price(but no guac, sadly). I like that they have different rice — a yellow and a green rice. The green rice is so good — there’s cilantro in it! The pinto beans I think has chorizo and pork, so I opted for the black beans which are classic. Instead of meat, you can have squash, corn, or both. The yellow squash is so delicious! As for other toppings, they have more than Chipotle and makes for a more colorful bowl, I just kind of wish they would put more but it makes sense that they wouldn’t since you can choose so many toppings i.e. pickled onions, red cabbage, cotija cheese, pico de gallo, etc. The only thing I would say I wished is that service was quicker, but honestly, the staff is so nice I almost feel horrible complaining.

By any measure, it’s superior to chipotle. They feature texas bbq meats. Beef brisket has been my favorite since the very beginning. Very tender and flavorful. Very smokey. The pinto beans are much better too. The extra addons are must haves. The corn is better than chipotle. Squash is amazing. The cojita cheese makes a lot more sense than the commonly seen shredded processed cheese. The radish and pickled onion make a big difference in the final product. And it’s very reasonably priced. Staff members are very friendly and helpful. overall a 5 star experience.

Got a bowl the rice and beans have no flavor, the pico de gallo was literally just tomatoes and water. I did not enjoy finding bones in my chicken. I rather go to chipotle or dos toros, Not worth the money sorry.

This place is wonderful. The smell when you walk in! And the staff is always super helpful and fun to interact with.

For starters, this place does not serve regular burritos. You will be greeted by the incredible smell of BBQ meat when you walk through the front door because that’s what’s going in the burrito. The layout and ordering process is exactly the same as any other burrito chain in the city. You specify the type of rice, beans, meat, then finish it off with any of the many topping choices. The only surprise came when I got to the register where I learned the burrito sans fancy toppings cost me a couple dollars more than what I would pay elsewhere. Turned out the corn topping wasn’t free. Overall, the burrito wasn’t bad. The upcharge for a basic topping isn’t cool though. [ Update: Finished the burrito about 20 minutes ago and I’m hungry again. ]

The pork I got was dry, but it was the bottom of the dish. Everything else tasted ok, but I was not as impressed as I am with Chipotle. In order to add corn, there was an extra charge, so my lunch came to $ 11.97, which again was a bit more than I expected.

Me and my wife were walking down 2nd ave and a sweet guy name John Jimenez was standing out front and we ask him about the food here at Tres Carne and he was very polite and very hospitable, bea cause he had a great attitude about this place and was very knowledgeable too. about the many items of food sold here, We decided to eat here and we’re very satisfied with the excellent service and attention to detail they had. I would recommend this to anybody that wants some fresh, tasty Tex-mex style of food. And John J is awesome !! Thank you

I really didn’t like the atmosphere that much… Everyone seemed extremely snobby and unprofessional. everyone just talking about and not caring about the customer. I did, however, absolutely love the smell once i walked in. The food was okay… would’ve preferred a bigger portion. I’m sticking to Chipotle.

I fresh twist on Mexican fast food. If you are tired of the same conveyor belt of food at chipotle, then make your way over to tres carnes. You will know you are in the right place when the smokey flavors hit your face after you walk through the door. With a new special protein every week, tres carnes is sure to satisfy your need for something Tasty. I little more expensive than chipotle, but well worth it. The loyalty card is just another perk to keep me coming back for more.

I finally decided to try Tres Carnes for lunch after walking past it and smelling such deliciousness coming from within since they opened a couple of months ago. This particular day the restaurant wasn’t crowded and I was able to get my food quickly. I have walked by previous times and the line would be crazy long so I was happy about that. I have to say the food was really good. I had the chicken bowl with all the toppings(rice, guacamole, radishes, squash(which I never heard of in with a «bowl» meal) and everything was delicious. The food was hot and well seasoned, I even got a card to come back for free guacamole and chips which I plan to use real soon. The only downside was it can be a bit costly — the bowl and bottle of water ran me around $ 13 which is expensive for lunch(to me). However, I would absolutely go back to enjoy another Tres Carnes meal — would suggest you do the same!

Nothing satisfies a hunger craving like a tasty bowl of rice, beans, chicken and guacamole, but at tres carnes you get even more… pickled onions? radishes? squash? Yes please. The 2nd ave one is always fast and friendly… and on special days they have the churro Dough donuts that are to die for. I wish they had those every day!

This place is amazing. I used to go to Chipotle for lunch, but I’ve completely replaced it in the rotation with Tres Carnes. I go at least once a week. The smoked meats are awesome(I’ll get brisket, but the andouille sausage and ground beef specials are tasty, too) and the staff is super friendly and fun(ask for Brianna, she’s the best!). I do the burrito bowls, but the burritos are also tasty. The hot sauce they use has such a good smoky flavor, it adds another layer of awesome. Definitely include this in your rotation!

The newest location of Tres Carnes serves solid, tasty burritos, but has some work to do. I had the smoked chicken burrito — the taste of the chicken was good, but I could tell it had been sitting out for a while. It was a bit cold and stale. The toppings were all good, but the biggest flaw was that there was not enough salsa — next time I will know to ask for extra as the burrito was a bit dry. I also ordered the chips and guac — this was actually the highlight. For $ 3, you get a pretty sizeable cup of guac(which was excellent) and some good tortilla chips. I’ll be back eventually — I think there is a lot of potential here but they just need to work on some assembly line issues.

I ordered takeout from here and they literally left out most of the items I ordered — no salsa, sour cream, cheese, pico, or onions. VERY annoyed I just spent $ 16 for rice/beans/meat and corn bowl. How can you forget all of those items? Never going here or ordering from here again.

Apparently their Dough-made churro donuts are Fridays from 12 – 2 only, and usually sell out before 2, but that doesn’t seem to be publicized anywhere, so I settled on a Mexican Coke for $ 2.75 with the $ 2 LevelUp credit they tossed my way. A chipotle-style Mexican eatery, but not as good and a little bit pricier. Their gimmick here is «smoked meats!» The smell of smoke hits you pretty hard when you walk in, and it permeates every facet of their food. While it is a pleasant flavor initially, after eating the first few bites, it starts to feel too strong. I had to throw out the second half of my meal due to smoke flavor overload. I love bbq, don’t get me wrong, but this smokey flavor is just way too strong in the Mexican fare they are serving up here. The yellow rice and black beans have absolutely no flavor whatsoever, and the tomatoes that were used in the pico de gallo were not ripe at all. I would recommend the new dos Toros on 46th and lex instead.

Room temp buffet meat and undercooked beans does not make a good taco. Too expensive. Couldn’t just buy 1 taco, had to buy 2 for $ 13 and change. I opted not to include corn, guacamole, or sour cream which would have cost extra. I should have checked Unilocal first.

As others have stated, this feels like a stripped down Chipotle or perhaps an anemic Dos Toros. In either case, Tres Carnes is more expensive. Food seems well prepared, tastes good and the service is reasonably friendly, but the portions are definitely small for what you pay. Not particularly good value to be had here. Also, it reeks like a smoke pit, so be warned if you’re planning on eating in; you will definitely smell like smoked BBQ when you leave. Given that there are similar and less expensive options in the area, I don’t think I’ll be patronizing these guys too often.

Overrated. Basically a slow paced, smaller amount, less flavorful Chipotle. Seriously expected something different but was disappointed and dissatisfied. Not to mention I tasted that food all day after that and needed some alka seltzer. Stay away. On the plus side, the people were really nice.
