Tony ‘The Dragon’ Dragonas

I remember Tony when he had a food kart back in the 90s and now he has a truck. That chicken on pita was and is the greatest sandwich ever. I used to work at the limited on 62^nd and Madison right on his corner and everyday for lunch I used to get 2 of those luscious sandwiches with that tasty sauce. Now I’m in Florida and there is nothing like that here. I’m going back to NYC soon and the first place to eat will be at Tony’s!!!

My favorite street food in Manhattan. Don’t mistaken this for your basic halal cart. This is some killer Greek food. I only wish I had discovered it sooner — I go to Hunter College on 68^th and there’s nothing to eat up there. So Tony’s is now my go-​to.
The only thing I have tried is the Chicken and Rib-​Eye Steak combo for $ 10. It’s incredible. I always want to try something new but I can’t help getting this combo again and again. The high quality of their ingredients is what makes Tony’s so amazing. The chicken is super juicy and fresh– the best grilled chicken breast I’ve had from a street cart. The ribeye is so flavorful. You can choose tzatziki sauce, BBQ sauce, and hot sauce. I get all 3. The tzatziki is thick and delicious, and the BBQ adds a subtle sweetness. I’m normally not a hot sauce person but theirs is more flavorful than it is spicy. And then there’s the rice — so mothereffin’ fluffy! It’s so warm, soft, and buttery and you just cannot have enough of it. This platter is served with a side salad dressed with balsamic vinaigrette or olive oil. All of this food weighs like 7 lbs in the plastic bag they give you. They definitely don’t skimp out on anything!
You can’t miss the big blue truck on the corner 62^nd and Madison. There is usually a line during lunch time and it takes about 20 – 30 minutes from entering the line to getting my food. During non-​lunch hours, it’s very quick. IMO, Tony’s is literally the best thing to eat in this neighborhood.

I ordered ribeye steak and shish kebab combo. Very tasty and very fresh. The meat is seasoned just right and the portion is generous. Delicious!

The best in NYC! Absolutely great food at an awesome price I could go there everyday for lunch and dinner.

Worth the wait in line. Unless you are a regular or local law then you can go around to the side.
More about the food. I got the steak and it was fresh and well seasoned. Great portion. Rice is good and service is relatively fast.

I went at 1:45PM to avoid the line… and stood in line! I got the steak platter… and OH my. I don’t even like rice and the rice is really good… the steak… yum! The salad… fresh.
I was tempted to give it one star to level out the line but just couldn’t do it… I’ll just wait in line.

For the quality of meat and the quantity they give, this place is better than all other street meet I’ve had. I got the grilled chicken and ribeye combo platter, and though I’m not a big grilled chicken breast fan, the ribeye didn’t disappoint me. Get the ribeye — trust me.
The combo cost me $ 12 ($ 10 + $ 2 for the combo) and it was a lot of food.
You can ask for a gyro platter too, even though it’s not listed on the platter menu. I don’t live around there, but I’ll be back for that soon.

I LOVE SOME GOOD STREET MEAT and Tony the Dragon KILLED IT. Got a quick meal of rib eye and chicken — both grilled up right and served steaming hot. Worth the 8+ blocks walked up for a quick meal and relaxing seat in the park. Highly recommend, looking forward to coming back. Only change I would make is to bump up the tzatziki, which had the consistency of a light yogurt instead of a rich, cucumber /​garlic strewn goodness. Writing this makes me hungry for more MEAT, and it’s only 10am.
Takes CASH only, they should have a BIG A$$ sign or something to save the 10 minutes I stood in line.

I’m a big street meat connoisseur and although this is technically street meat, it definitely does not taste like it.
I talked to Tony, the Dragon, himself and he explained to me that his business is unlike the other food trucks out there, not only in his style, but in the quality of meats that he uses.
I tried the chicken and ribeye platter for $ 10 and I’m a fan. The quality of meats are definitely better than the other carts out there. These are chicken breasts, not chicken thighs and they taste delicious. The ribeye steak is also delicious. The garden salad appears to be field greens, served with oil and balsamic. The rice is fluffy. I think its a rice pilaf. The tzatziki sauce is very creamy.
It seems like this truck serves the businesses in the area and unfortunately it closes early @6pm on weekdays and @5pm on Sat. Closed Sundays. Would be nice to have as a late night snack, but alas its not meant to be, not yet at least.

Absolute favorite food truck in NYC. Even better than a lot of Greek restaurants. Meat is tender and moist, salad is fresh, and tzatziki is absolutely amazing. But the lunch line is always slow… try to avoid 12pm-​230pm

My friend Anthony insists on taking us to Manhattan on a regular basis, and dragging us all over town to try different Halal Carts. This concept has become so famous among the cart owners, that one of them has actually named his cart after it. «Tony Draggin’us.» Of course because he’s a Halal Cart owner, he spelled it wrong, hence «Tony Dragonas.»

So I know the real reason for the name of this cart. Which is that if you put too much hot sauce on this thingy, then your bottom will be on fire. Hence «Dragon Ass.» Get it? Now you understand.
So NYC is full of absolutely amazing Halal Carts. And when you say Goodbye, I say Halal. Halal, Halal. I don’t know why you say goodbye, I say Halal. And this one is one of the very best there is. It’s definitely top 10 in NYC, and may even be top 5. It’s a little behind Sammy’s Halal and Biryani Cart, and it’s competing with the likes of King Of Falafel (Queens), Halal Guys, Uncle Gussy’s and Halal Guys. So I’d say yes, it would just about make the top 5.
I don’t know why the owner is so angry though. You should come here with us some time, if only to hear «Tony Rag-​on-​us.» He really does. Except that I don’t appreciate that expression, so please don’t use it at home, kids, just because you saw me do it. Damn I feel like Eminem right now. Y’all act like you never seen a white person before.
The reason Tony is so good is that he has a huge p***s. Oh wait. That’s a different Tony. No, the reason it’s so good is that it’s made with wonderful high quality ingredients. The salad is well put together and fresh. The rice is delectable and buttery and tasty. And the meat is the absolute star of the show. I’m not even a huge Shish fan, but Tony said I should try his Shish, which is cubes of lamb or beef steak, marinaded and cooked on a skewer. He was damn right. This is some of the juiciest, tastiest meat I’ve tried before. I was absolutely floored by how damn good it was. Bravo, Tony. Bravo.
If this place sold Argentinian food, it’d be renamed to «Tony Patagonias» but it doesn’t. Which is a shame because Argentinian food is f***ing awesome.
I want to send a massive shout out (as usual) to my friend Kashif for recommending this particular cart so vehemently and emphatically that I ended up finding my way here, and absolutely loved it. I will be back again for sure, and Kashif definitely earned Tony another customer, so well done K.
And if this were «Tony Slagonus» it would be about me and several male friends with a rather rough, rather promiscuous British girl atop us. But it’s not. Which is probably a good thing? Or?
If you love Halal Carts, or if you love Kebab, make your way over to TD and give this a try. It’s one of the very best there is, and you need to try it for yourself.
And if this were «Tony Sharonas», I’d have the knack of coming here more often, and then it’d be all like:

The food truck guys were sooooo nice and speedy I had been wanting to try this place for its amazing cheap menu but the Italian sausage sandwich with hot sauce was not a good first date.
Will try again…

In a place with not so many quick and delicious lunch options, Tony Dragonas food truck is a great find. I got the grilled chicken with double meat over a salad with tzatziki, and it was stellar. And cheap!
Very satisfying meal and it took all of 5 minutes to get it. As for where to eat it, there’s one slim counter attached to the truck that you can use, or you can be a degenerate like me and sit on someone’s stoop. Either way, it’s all good.

Really good.
For $ 10 ($ 8 if you only want one item), I ordered the chicken and lamb combo. The combination includes rice and salad (with a vinaigrette dressing). Both the chicken and the lamb were well seasoned and not over cooked. The rice had a nice, mild flavor. And yes, the white sauce is really good. Being a fatty, I asked for extra sauce and it wasn’t an issue. Also, they are generous with their portions.
I would definitely come back to this food truck if I was in the area. The guys working were slightly foul mouthed (it looked like one of the sons was yelling at his dad???), but nice enough to me, and fast. Seems like a lot of regulars frequent it.
Based on the menu items, I would say this place is kid friendly. My toddler loved the rice and tzatziki sauce.

By far the best food for the best price on the neighborhood.
I work in the area and finding a place to eat for lunch everyday is a nightmare. Everything is either a bodega café with generic gross paninis or it’s a fancy sit down restaurant. I don’t have the time or the energy to travel far so I’m happy to have found Tony’s.
I’ve had multiple items from the menu and it’s all great. Salads are fresh, meat is juicy, rice is fluffy and flavorful. $ 7 for a wrap and $ 8 for a platter. Both are giant amounts of food.
Expect a line during peak lunch hours but the turnaround is quick. Service is mostly friendly.

The BF has been a Tony’s lover since his early high school days. With that said, popping my Tony’s cherry was his ultimate goal. This past Saturday, the BF & I took a stroll to The Dragon cart on 62^nd and Madison, ordered our food, and found a bench to eat on in Central Park.
I had the chicken & steak combo on salad with cherry peppers, hot sauce, and tzatziki. The smoky and delicious meat paired perfectly with the combination of spicy and cool sauces. I enjoyed my meal so much that I found myself back on line at Tony’s today for lunch! I opted for the salmon over salad with cherry peppers, hot sauce, and tzatziki ($ 10). Although I prefer the chicken & steak combo, the salmon was great too. Tony’s delivers an awesome Greek lunch at an affordable price — I can’t wait to come back and try everything else! :)

When a cart has an 11 person line at 2:20 in the afternoon, you know it must be something special. This place is.
Look at how fresh the vegetables are. The rice is so flavorful. The chicken has a slight char which gives it extra flavor. Their sauces are the equivalent to an orgasm in your mouth. Tzatziki is very rich. They have lemon juice!
HIGHLY RECOMMEND is an understatement. Only complaint is that they close so early. Please stay open later.
And I only got charged 10 dollars for a steak chicken combo!
This is not one of those overrated carts where you’ll be disappointed. Go here!

This is, hands down, one of the best (good /​cheap) food options on the upper east side. These guys do wraps, burgers, and platters. This is basically a Greek diner /​café in the form of a food Truck. I wish these guys had a gyro meat platter option (with salad and rice) listed on the menu; however, I’m pretty sure you can get a gyro wrap here. Perhaps a gyro platter is an option here (but not listed on the menu). Ask!
The only real caveats are that (a) they don’t sell fries and (b) there are no real bonafide places to sit and eat on premises /​close by. You can stand and eat at a small ledge on the side of the truck; or take the food back to wherever it is you are staying; or find a bench at a nearby park. We were soldiers and found a ground floor window sill several yards away (to sit on or place your plate on).
My daughter got a Greek Salad, while my son and I got which kabob platters. The platters were huge (huge!) and were easily enough for two meals. My daughter’s Greek Salad was packed with tomatoes, Kalamata olives, peperoncini peppers, onions, feta cheese cubes, stuffed grape leaves on top of romaine and arugula greens. Garnished with geek dressing and not too heavy on the onions.
My son’s and my shish kabob platters consisted of roasted pork chunks, rice and arugula salad. The tzadziki sauce on the meat and rice was fantastic — even better with the optional hot sauce.
I think this place might be cash only so be sure to hit the ATM before you go.

MMMMMMMMM Sooo good. I usually hate chicken because I eat it so much, but since Tony is known for his chicken. of course I had to try it.
I got the chicken with lamb souvlaki with rice and salad, white sauce, and some hot sauce. The hot sauce was not hot sauce lol. The chicken was phenomenal. So flavorful and juicy. Large, tender chunks. Salad was fresh and the rice was lightly seasoned. Lamb was good too. The lamb and chicken was a really good combination together.
The white sauce is amazing. It looks like a lot when they first put it on, but I wanted MORE as I started eating my plate.
Line is always long and is a longer wait than other food carts because they are always cooking the meat FRESH! It’s so much better than the meats you see that has been cooked on the grill forever.

If you’re expecting the typical food that you get at the Halal carts, you’ll be greatly surprised. This is way better than that. I got the chicken platter which was awesome. The chicken was was very tender and went great wth some white and bbq sauce. The white sause is not the typical tziki sauce, but more of a yogurt and tiny cucumber sauce which tasted great.
I’ve tasted cart food from all over NYC, and this was one of my favorite. Can’t wait to go back.
