Just ok. Food is food. I will not come back again. Too S~l~O~W~~~. You are waiting 10 mins for ’ be right back’ but the food is not really worthy of your patience. Pot of muscles is too dry and small. $ 15 Mac and cheese is not as great as the hype. Maybe it will taste better if I didn’t hold up that high expectation.

Such a great place to gather with friends! The atmosphere is welcoming and causal and the food was delicious. We had a large party and they sat us right away. Our server was awesome and constantly made sure we had everything we needed. They have a great variety on their menu and pretty good specials too! I would recommended this to anyone in town or near by.

My company hosted our annual holiday party at The Smith last month for about 70 people. We had the private dining room downstairs to ourselves and it was a blast! I want to thank everyone at the Smith East Village for an absolutely wonderful experience. This was our 8th annual party as a company and everyone said that it was their favorite venue, favorite food, favorite staff… favorite everything! The food was particularly exceptional. Most importantly, each and every member of their team was incredibly warm, accommodating and professional. We had the best time! An extra special thank you to the manager, Matt, for going above and beyond that evening. He made everyone feel like a VIP. Thanks a million for hosting our special event.

My friend and I did not really plan a spot for dinner on a Friday night. Should have make reservations somewhere. I obviously didn’t. NEWB. :X Luckily The Smith had a table in the corner available for 2. We shared the MAC+CHEESE, BRUSSELSPROUTS, and the CHICKENPOTPIE. The chicken pot was just a thin flaky crust. Wasn’t really what I was expecting but it was still a good dish. Overall, the restaurant was good but there wasn’t anything that stood out to me the most. If you’re in NY, find your way here to try it out. ENJOY!

So trendy and pretty good. I like that they have healthy options. It’s super hyped and busy. They take reservations, which is good. All in all, good!

Really enjoyed the brunch — it was packed but our waiter didn’t rush and the food was great. I’m really writing a review to comment on 1 of the hostesses. I had made a reservation for Saturday brunch, knowing how packed it would be. When I got there, it was hard to get to the hostess to let her know I was there because of how packed it was, which was fine. But what was absurd was once I actually got right in front of her, how long it took for her to ask me what I needed. There’s space for about three people to be in her line of vision and I was directly behind her computer, with a person on each side of me. She spoke to a number of people who would arrive on my left and right before addressing me. I was the only African American out of the individuals she helped. After 8 minutes, the person I was with — who is not Black — commented on how she kept ignoring my presence even though I was directly in front of her. At one point, I said«excuse me» and she looked up to me and said«Hold on, I’m really busy at the moment» — which is fine, except as soon as she was done with her computer, she went to the white woman on my left — not me. I really like the food, and didn’t want to make a fuss when it was busy and I wanted to enjoy the meal. But I hope this hostess who was serving yesterday afternoon sees this, so she doesn’t do this again. And speaks to people in the order they arrive — or at least close to the order, rather than speaking to a number of people before me. She finally spoke to me 15 minutes AFTER my reservation had came and went.

I am obsessed with this place. I love their Ricotta Gnocchi I could write a love song about it. Their desserts are also very good. This place is probably responsible for my winter weight gain… and the delivery guy knows me… lol

I love this place. I’ve always liked everything I’ve ordered. The max n cheese, which I don’t need to be eating, is the only Mac n cheese I cheat my diet with. The homemade drinks are delicious too! There’s something comforting about the décor. I guess I like deep classic stains on wood. It’s a little retro but still modern. Like the bathroom area is chic single stalls with a shared washroom. But the seats upstairs are those heavy pub style wooden chairs. Ample and welcoming.

We were a large group and walked in on a Saturday night to celebrate an engagement. The staff graciously put together a few tables. Cocktail menu has some interesting choices, kudos for the creativity. We were also impressed by the selections on the whiskey menu.

Walked in on a Saturday night at 9:15 without a reservation or hope of even getting in. The host told us it would be «15−20» minutes. We were thrilled. We sat at the bar. By 10 pm, we will still sitting at the bar. At this point, I went and scheduled a reservation on open table for 10:30. Sure enough, by 10:30 I had to walk up to the hostess and because of our reservation, we were allowed a table. I understand it’s Saturday night but why not just be honest? We could have ordered at the bar and saved a table. As for drinks, I ordered the hungry teacher. This was a whiskey and lemon/lime drink. Very tasty. Our server was definitely hurrying us along as we could tell her section was finishing up. We ordered the crab cake tots(highly recommended), the salmon and the black pasta with shrimp. The entrees were amazing. Black pasta doesn’t look too appetizing to the eye, but it’s delicious. The amount of shrimp in the bowl was a great amount. We did not order dessert. Over all — fantastic food. Average service. I will definitely give this another shot.

OMG!!! The food here is amazing! I came here for date night with my husband, there was a 30 minute wait to be seated but trust me its worth the wait. I honestly was so surprised that the food was this good the Mac and cheese is a must try. As far as service our waiter wasn’t to friendly or to attended to us but I think it was because it was so full that night, our food came out real quick. If your not from the city and your driving come about 20 minutes early to look for parking. I gave it 4 stars because I didn’t like there dessert, which was some kind of apple crumb with ice cream it wasn’t to my liking but other then that everything was great.

Good vibes. Okay food. Some odd things like regular potato chips smothered with a heavy cheese sauce. Mussels were small and overwhelmed with the creamy broth. Small piece of bread served in a small envelope? Moscow mule was served in a regular smallish tall glass. Lobster salad $ 32 was a few small pieces of lobster over greens, not worth it. Beef brisket over a squash mash was pretty good. The black pasta was gooey and heavy. Fried chicken/waffles was excellent, but pricey for fried chicken.

I was expecting more from The Smith since it has been on my bookmark list ‘to try’ for a while. Maybe it’s the location? We got here right on time for our reservation, but the third person in our group was running late and we all had to be there to get seated. No problem — we will get a drink at the bar. We spotted people leaving and we swooped in to grab their seats. The bartenders noticed us, but decided to ignore us for a good 15 minutes. No greeting, no menus, NOTHING. I understand it’s busy. especially the service bar. but there’s literally about 15 seats at the bar. I don’t understand. We finally ordered drinks but they took forever. When our third person arrived, we told the hostess we were ready and she said about 5 minutes for our table. Perfect, just enough time for us to close our check at the bar. NOPE. The bartender already had our bill printed and handed it to us as soon as we asked for it. Next, we waited another good 15 minutes before we had to ask for him to swipe our cards. We noticed him greeting the people that just sat down at the bar, making fake small talk and even giving them water and just completely ignoring us on purpose. Service is MUCH better at the tables. We had some delicious Irish coffees and split a mac and cheese to start. It’s a must have as a starter! Entrees were meh. All of the food we ordered(except the mac and cheese) were cold. It was very disappointing. The brunch vibe is great, but the food and service is pretty disappointing. Bathrooms are clean and there is a photo booth downstairs. Going to check out the Midtown location instead since they have better reviews.

I’ve been to The Smith several times with clients and it’s a fun spot. The vibe is great and the food is decent without being great. Overall I would give it 3.5 Top things on the menu: — hanger steak(ordered the filet mignon today and I don’t think it’s worth it) — lobster roll — fries are awesome

Me and feyonce stopped here for dinner before going to see blue man group. It was pretty lively and loud and a decent amount of people Service was good and food was better. I got the seared tuna with mushrooms, sunchokes, baby spinach($ 29) and it was delicious. I thought I wasn’t going to be full from looking at my entrée when it came out but I was pretty stuffed. He got the pastrami spiced salmon with roasted cauliflower, house made kraut, and dill($ 26). Also yummy. We shared a side of the jalapeño cheddar grits(never skip ordering this goodness) and both of us were pretty full. On the pricier side. Great meal and good staff. Will definitely return!

For the price of $ 16, I got a hearty and delicious meal of Sicilian baked eggs and a mimosa. What a steal! Service was friendly and fast. Make sure to make. reservation if you want to get a great Sunday brunch deal. The baked eggs were cooked perfectly. I really enjoyed the artichoke and spinach in the skillet as well. I am dying to try other brunch menus items!

I came here for dinner after work recently and thought it was a great find in the east village! My friend and I didn’t make a reservation, so we were told there’d be a 20 – 30 minute wait. We sat at the bar to get drinks. The bartender was quite preoccupied and it was difficult to get his attention. We finally ordered our drinks(dirty martini for me and the hungry teacher for her) which came out well. It took another bit of time to get the check when our table was ready. After arriving at the table, the server gave us menus and a bit of time. We started with the burrata which was absolutely fantastic. The garlicky bread it was served with was so good. I then got the cavatelli pasta with short rib and it was worth every single calorie. I am obsessed. My Friend had the shrimp and grits and loved it as well. Service was pretty good if not a tad pushy. I’ll definitely be back to try their Mac and cheese!

I came here for brunch recently with a bunch of friends. My friend had a reservation so we didn’t have to wait to be seated. We were placed inside, where it was dark but comfortable. I knew I had to try the candied bacon scone which was $ 9 for 3 scones. The scones were wonderful, with the delicious taste of sweet, crispy bacon; buttery and soft, crumbly scone and crystallized sugar bits on top. For my main course I ordered the fried chicken sandwich, which came with romaine, smoked paprika aioli and french fries. It was pretty good, but I don’t think the chicken was fried… It seemed more like there was a little bit of breading on grilled chicken, so I was kind of disappointed and felt that the menu was misleading. The flavor of the chicken sandwich was decent though and they gave me plenty of fries, which were pretty tasty. I also got to try the fried string beans, which were quite good. The fresh taste of string beans was still there and it had a nice satisfying crunch to it. Since it was my friend’s birthday, the restaurant presented my friend with a chocolate cake with a mini vanilla milkshake, which was absolutely adorable! I tasted a bit of the cake, which was very chocolate-y, rich and sweet. It also had this delightful warm, gooey chocolate filling.

I was excited to try out this place with one of my best friends who lives in NYC, but I think we were both pretty underwhelmed by the experience. There was a decently long line to be seated when we arrived, so luckily we had a reservation. I was surprised to find that there was a downstairs dining room as well, but it was a pretty cool atmosphere. There are bottles covering the walls and the staff was very friendly. However, I thought the tables were very close together making it a little bit too crowded and loud. I was excited that the entrees come with a free drink and I got the Passion Punch, which was delicious! It reminded me of a mojito infused with lots of passionfruit — yummy! However, I was a little disappointed with the food. I ordered the corned beef hash, which had good-sized chunks of meat but mine were burnt, especially closer to the bottom of the skillet, and a little salty. Since I don’t live in NYC, the likelihood of me returning is not very high… BUT if ever made it back to the Smith, I would try the Vanilla Bean French Toast. It would be a total calorie bomb, but it looked delicious when they delivered it to the table next to me!

On some level, it’s not fair. I felt legitimately bad for some of the food I had tonight, because I knew that it would be the best thing at most other restaurants. Four items, four 10s. Wow. We started off with the hot potato chips(with blue cheese). Now I personally strongly dislike stinky cheese and had never even considered putting it on chips, but I guess that’s why I don’t own the Smith. Also the bowl was huge, be careful. The chips were amazing and unnecessary and some of the best chips I’ve ever had. Midway through the delight of the chips came OHMYGODTHEWORLD’S BESTMACANDCHEESE. THE. BEST. MACANDCHEESE. EVER. INTHEWORLD. THEBEST! Ok I’m done. Get the Mac and cheese and thank me later. Creamy, rich, cheesy, mind blowing, stellar, unbeatable. It’s amazing and… is it weird to say I miss it? Next came the entrees. We were pretty lost in the menu so we asked the waitress for suggestions, and she said the flounder. According to my girlfriend, light things like fish«cut through the richness» so obviously we went with that. It was some of the best fish I’ve ever had with a side of vegetables that perfectly complemented it. We also ordered the tagliatelle, which was unbelievable black pasta with delicious shrimp and enough garlic to keep the vampires away for at least a week. Highly, highly, highly recommended. I could barely walk out of the restaurant at the end. We didn’t even finish our bread, a feat that I’m pretty sure was a first. I will wholeheartedly concede that the price was steep, but for the best meal I’ve had in a long time, I still have to give five stars.
