I am astounded that this gem is not packed every night. I am almost hesitant to write this review for fear that my favorite sushi restaurant in the city will become too popular… but then again, I would cry if it went out of business. We go at least once week. It is associated with the Sushi of Gari restaurants and the fish is of equal quality as they source the fish together. The service is impeccable and the prices are extremely reasonable… even more reasonable given the extremely high quality of the fish. We have been to the highest end sushi restaurants in the city, and if you take away the celebrity status, the ridiculously difficult to get reservations, and the equally ridiculous prices, Saki compares favorably to all of them.

Saki deserves 5 stars but I have to leave only 2 — why did you close your lunch hours? This was my(and many of my colleague’s) GOTO lunch spot. Ate lunch here, or ordered out, several times a week. So upset to see that you now open at 5PM. Please please please, bring our favorite lunch back!

We are hard to please — and they went above and beyond our expectations– sushi was great, the service was prob the best iv had in the area, and prices reasonable. Would highly recommend and will definitely return again. Btw the fried eggplant appetizer was the best we have had!

The entrees were absolutely delicious with an affordable and large helping size. The service was fantastic! Also, the restaurant had modern and comforting décor! THANKSSAKI!

My girls brought me here after being a fan of their Long Island location. I had many different kinds of sushi here and was impressed with each one. They also had this deal with 5 unique pieces of sushis for some price(forgot sorry!), but I definitely recommend. Their sushi was delicious and fresh!!! I will return. It was worth my money.

Priced high, tasted fresh. I loved the rock shrimp and dragon roll. You pay for service and peace in this place. No loud people with interruptions. Will come again.

Saki replaces the former Kotobuki. Not much has changed at all in terms of the interior, however the menu options are different and it would appear that Saki offers a more varied menu at a higher price point, whereas Kotobuki had more in the way of sushi and sashimi platters that were excellent value and quality.

I really did not enjoy my meal here and have no idea how this is a 4 star place on Unilocal.I consistently disagree with the 4 star sushi ratings on Unilocal. Most other genres are reliable, but for sushi unfortunately not. Split the chirashi and two rolls with my friend and it just wasn’t good. The rice was awful. Weird flavor, undercooked. The fish was okay but not great. Service was poor too. We were the only ones in there at first since we went early and were just stared at. Defintiely not returning.

This place is awesome! Maybe it’s a bit pricey but the food and the service is def worth the price! I ordered tofu for appetizer, sashimi for main course, and green tea flan for dessert. They all had extraordinary tastes as well as delicate looks. The sashimi was great and fresh! Def worth the price! The service is awesome! They provided warm towel before meal, which’s def a sweet and considerate detail. They asked me if I need some steamed rice for sashimi bc some customers like to eat it with rice. They also offered me a cup of tea with dessert, which’s also considerate and help me digest. I’ll def recommend Saki if you want well serviced and tasted Japanese sushi and sashimi!

Pretty good for a super commercialized looking Japanese place. Okay ambiance but not flattering lighting. Friend and I shared the steamed eel shumai, the scallop and uni appetizer, and the sashimi platter. The eel shumai was new for me and I really liked it. The scallop and uni dish was the clear winner. I highly recommend this dish. The flavors are so rich and the texture was like biting into pure cream. Sashimi was frehs, which is all you can ask for. Not cheap but not expensive either.

It is a nice and friendly place. I took eel cucumber rolls and avocado rolls, they were quite tasty but nothing special. It’s a good place to have a lunch.

The freshest sushi in the area, and I can enjoy the quality and menu of «Sushi of Gari» with the reasonable price. And appetizers were also great. I ordered Fatty saolom carpaccio, HOTATEUNISAUCE, and Chirashi. I will definitely come back to this restaurant. There are few place that I can eat this quality with this price. Fish quality is very good.

Ordered Grubhub pickup from the Kotobuki replacement* by the folks behind Sushi of Gari, and arrived to a dead restaurant at lunch time. FYI their pricey lunch specials on the sign outside are N/A via Grubhub/Seamless. Fatty Tuna with Scallion Cut Up Roll $ 10.00 did not wow. *The Grubhub Unilocal link still goes there

I was devastated when Kotobuki shut down, because that was my favorite sushi restaurant in the neighborhood. I am glad that the former Kotobuki is now replaced with the Sushi of Gari owned Saki. The new owners did not change the décor nor the staff. My favorite and super friendly, attentive waiter, Devin, is still here. Even though the prices are higher than Kotobuki, the fish here is fresh, and the service is impeccable. Devin is super sweet and took time to explain the menu and the fish. He always made sure our glasses were filled and that we were O.K. The food also arrived quickly. The place is pretty empty right now, but I hope more people start coming. Maybe it’s the higher prices that are turning people away. I ordered the Regular Sushi, Sashimi Deluxe, Dragon Roll, and a Salmon Sushi; all tasted fresh and delicious. I do miss the cheaper, bigger portions and the complimentary salad and soup from Kotobuki though. But I’ll come back as long as long as Saki keeps up the amazing service.

Pretty empty but I guess it’s cause this place is fairly new. We weren’t sure of whether or not to go inside until a couple walked by us and said«Go. We come here every week.» Which basically made us confirm we should try it. The staff here are incredible attentive(because it wasn’t packed?) but all are so sweet and helpful. Nicely decorated, very clean restaurant. Sushi itself is fresh and yummy but the prices are on the higher end. We got free samples(hot wings and one special roll) each for ordering beers. I would come back next time I’m in the area!

Went here with a group of 4 — was promptly seated as it was around 8:30 pm. We noticed the sign for a free sampler when you ordered a drink, which is obviously great marketing. The sampler that came with the drinks had a spicy tuna roll and a chicken wing. Not a lot, but the spicy tuna roll was really good — so much so that it made me order a special spicy tuna roll called the Angry Tuna. The chicken wing was decent, but I’m not going to a sushi place for chicken wings. Yellowtail Jalapeño appetizer was great and fresh, highly recommended. The price was $ 12. The Angry Tuna roll was great — a spicy tuna roll with a kick to it. Also fresh, and I think it ran $ 16. All in all, the quality and service was good enough that I’d come back. Just be prepared to spend around $ 15 on a roll on average and you’re golden.

My favorite sushi place! Very fresh and rich! Prepare to taste every ingredient and leave with your belly happy and satisfied! They also expanded their menu; so please disregard the comments below. Service is super nice and ready to give you recommendations! So don’t hesitate to ask them. Overall: awesome experience every time we come in!

The menu is so simple that it’s worse than a Chinese-run sushi place in Brooklyn/Queens or even Staten Island. I don’t think there are any special rolls in the menu. Also, there is no liquor menu as the restaurant does not have a license. The sushi rolls are okay. Sashimi is bad — pieces are small and not fresh. Salmon had no flavor, tuna had no flavor, shrimp was gooey, so was the scallop. $ 35 for the sashimi deluxe — not worth it consider the portion and quality. Service was exceptional — probably because my girlfriend and I were the only people in the entire restaurant? Granted it was a Thursday but still, where is the crowd? EDIT: This may have something to do with Fung Shui? From what I remember is that this storefront has changed ownership 4 times within 6 years.(It used to be LAN, then some other restaurant, then Kotobuki, and now Saki)

Saki– The restaurant that replaced the mysteriously closed Kotobuki. To keep it short, the staff is the same, the décor is the same, what’s not the same? The menu and prices. Sushi quality I will say is very, very good, and the prices aren’t unreasonable per se, but seem a little high for what you get. No entrees come with soup or salad. Everything is a la carte. If the restaurant would only include a small miso soup, or simple salad, at such a nominal food cost for them, the entrees would seem like a much better value. Every night this week Saki has been pretty dead, with a max of 5 tables at a time– a seismic shift from an average night at Kotobuki where there would notoriously be a wait and line out the door. Sadly Saki did a disservice to themselves by completely changing the vibe menu wise, yet making no décor or architectural changes. Diners feel like they’re in Kotobuki, but are hit with the fact that Kotobuki is no more just by turning the page of the menu(which is still in Kotobuki’s menu cover) Once a low price, good quality sushi haven has turned into just another slightly overpriced, high-quality New York sushi restaurant. Im hoping the new owners will see the errors and fix the problems, and I will definitely be back, but for the time being Kotobuki’s regulars are gone, and it doesn’t seem like the area is ready to support the prices Saki asks for, nor the cold vibe of the menu. Only time will tell…
