I don’t think I can do enough ranting and raving to express my love of this place. It was my first time there, and I was blown away. Yeah, it gets crowded but for good reason. The performers are gorgeous and talented, the wait staff is pretty friendly, the MC is hilarious, and the behind the scenes crew was on point with cuing lights or music. If there’s any doubt in your mind about going, please scrap it and head down. You’re in for a treat!

What a great time! I had purchased tickets in advanced for a group of 12. I emailed and asked about reserving a space/table but was told seats were on a first come basis. My group got there 7:55 for the 8:00pm door opening. There was already 3 people ahead of us. The setup was very weid. 4 tables with about 3 seats at each table at the front of the stage, a big wide open space with about 5 seats along the side of the wall and then a section in the back that was a bit raised with a few tables and exactly 11 seats(I counted). Thats it. Since there weren’t enough seats in front of the stage we opted for the raised area in the back. the space isn’t huge so we were able to see just fine. Be warned that the wide open space is meant for standing room so there will be people standing in front of you. again since this area in the back was a little bit raised, we had a great view. There is a balcony area upstairs but I did not explore since the Unilocal reviews stated it wasn’t a great view from up there. Trying to get a drink from the server is pretty hard. I only saw ONE server for the entire night and she really tried to keep up. It was just easier to get to the bar and grab your own drink. The show itself started at 9:30 and it was a blast! The host was pretty funny and the acts were awesome. the girls were beautiful! They interacted with the crowd and brought anyone who was celebrating a birthday to the stage for some fun. the performers were super cool and took pics with whoever asked. overall a fun night especially with a group of friends. My advice would be to get here early to snag one of the few seats. The place got super crowded and pretty much everyone had to stand. We did not stay for the midnight show even though it was included in our ticket

$ 10 to enter, very reasonable. The ambiance is very good and everytime you come its a different experience, different people, different show. On the weekend it is very crowded but weekdays there are even empty seats. I would give a 5 stars but last night something in the show disgusted me so much that made me take one star off. I dont even know if I am allowed to explain what that was.

We came here to see a former co-worker’s band play and I really liked the venue. It felt like a sexy Victorian den and the acoustics were quite good. I can’t attest to the quality of the burlesque entertainment there – I still miss The Floating Kabarette at Galapagos Art Space which fled Brooklyn for Detroit – but it was a good place to hear author’s read their work and hear some superb live music while sipping white wine.

Heard great things so my husband and I decided to go on a Saturday night. The show was great! Just the right amount of raunch mixed in with the ultra sexy entertainment. The dancers were friendly and they looked like they were having fun which really helped to pump up the crowd. A nice mix of performers and different types of acts. Our waitress was great, kept coming quickly with the drinks, and the prices aren’t too bad either. Get there early, especially if you want a table. So worth it. The show started at 9:30 but we got there at 8:15 to enjoy some cocktails & conversation before the show, by 8:30 all the tables were gone. The place gets packed, wall to wall, so we were really happy we had plenty of space at our table. Bring cash to tip the ladies. It’s not expected at all but they put their all into the performances and all of the makeup and costumes are not cheap! The only down side of the evening was some of the crowd. There is limited space so people get easily agitated(one guy wouldn’t let me pass by him to go to the restroom) and some of the overly drunk people forget there are others around them(toward the end of the night, a table of rowdy women when kept bumping into our table, knocking over our drinks).

The Slipper Room rocked my nipples off. Not literally(I wish). Though there were nipples. Came here with a friend for my birthday and had such a raunchy time. The show was fantastic and I still can’t get over how strong and agile those performers were! My one big complaint deals with the space itself. It’s not that the space is necessarily too small, but perhaps they should admit fewer people per show? Or install more seats and tables? Something? It gets insanely crowded and unless you’re lucky, you’ll be standing sandwiched between a sweaty guy and his lady friend’s leg the entire time.

Absolutely LOVED this place. Came in for the early show & the MC Keith set the mood for the night. He is awesome, so funny & interactive with the whole audience. Each show is different & unique in its own way. Drinks are at a great price & the wait staff/bartenders are on their game keeping everyone well hydrated. If you’re into the erotic, modern, even odd performances this is definitely a place you need to check out. This is a one of a kind place & one to surely make your night in the lower east side unforgettable. Viewer discretion is advised seeing as there is some nudity.

This place was hyped-up by a few of my friends as one of their favorite bars in the city so I wasn’t sure what to expect going into it but I must say my expectations were set pretty high. We were in the city on an off night, I think it was a Tuesday, and the only thing on the schedule here was a comedy show. I thought it was decent, but my friends couldn’t wait for it to be over. The drinks are priced pretty average for a place like this in the city. But the one thing that stuck out to me was the service. ITWASAWESOME. Both of the bartenders working that night took such great care of me and my friends. Also, another thing I noticed was that it’s really clean here. From the bathrooms, to the upstairs seating, to the bar. Which is hard to do in a bar that can get as crowded and wild as this one does. Would love to see more of what The Slipper Room has to offer.

Came here for my first burlesque show and was less than impressed. Had to fake it because I was with someone who was friends with the dancers… and that was quite awkward. First of all, it’s small, dark, and dirty. The atmosphere felt like some sleezy strip club. Second, the dancers were all overweight and unattractive, none of the«acts» were actually creative or artistic in any way. I’m a woman and I appreciate an attractive woman… but from where I was in the back I could see the large dimples of cellulite on one dancer’s knees, legs, and butt… and her small man-like boobs? NO. Absolutely not. Finally, the drinks. Mediocre, nothing to write home about. Throw a $ 10 cover charge on top of all this? No way will I ever be going back here again.

Great bartenders — unpretentious, a little sass, but friendly and great at their job. Performances — agree with everyone, they’re unique, clever, unexpected, daring, nutty, silly, sweet, charming, shocking, cheeky, FUN. The host with the wig and glasses was having an off night and getting heckled; but it’d be nice if he pepped up his pace. He’s an accent to the night that dresses up the«down time», he’s not the main show, but given that he’s playing a character I think he forgets that. He kind of dragged things around. I realize he’s also trying to see when the next act is ready to go on but, I dunno, ask questions of the audience, have new jokes every night, keep it fresh and keep it moving. So he was lame, but, everything else was great. A couple performers performed multiple times but they had fresh acts so they were always entertaining. Quality of burlesque was ridiculously good — wonderful costuming, exceptional theatrics, beautiful dancers of great skill and grace, with top showmanship, fabulous storytelling(there was Tinkerbell having a sexual hissy fit at Peter Pan and his interest in Wendy) and energy. All the shows have fabulous energy, even when they get weird and odd and quirky. My favorite were the two dudes who did the Top Gun outfits/music and simulated making love/courtship via aerial gymnastics — so fun, cheeky, sexy, and without being skeezy. One of the other pre-midnight show acts was this little curvy Asian chick in sneakers chugging on a champagne or wine bottle and she was straight up naked basically doing stripper moves. She was clearly an exhibitionist as she wouldn’t get off the stage for at LEAST20 min(maybe thirty? even forty? it felt like forever), but she was well-groomed ], fit, and cute, just, not doing anything necessarily interesting, not to the degree the midnight show acts were. I’m sure folks who are into naked girls enjoyed that to some degree though, and it did make for a nice«oh wow this is where we’re at?!» backdrop. The class of the venue means that a chick can drop her coochie to the stage and grind it and still look like she’s doing something«artsy!» Heh. PS – fab bathrooms. Some of them had the heater on in them for some odd reason but although cozy, they are all clean, have great sinks, are in great new renovated shape. SOAPPRECIATEDTHAT. PPS — This would be a fabulous venue to buy out for an event. I tried to «book VIP tables» but they don’t do that. :(

4 ½ stars Came here on my first night in NY and I absoulutely loved it. The show was so much more than I expected. Not only the performers were beautiful but also talented. We saw acrobatics, burlesque dancing and Winnie the Pooh lol There were 5 to 6 different performers throughout the night, some of them are super out there, so keep an open mind. My favourite performer was Honey Suckle, she did the more traditional Burlesque number. This place is perfect for a girls night out or a bachelorette party. I will love to go back one day.

What a fun place! I went here on a whim on a Friday night for their midnight showing. The late shows on the weekends only costs $ 10 at the door. I was expecting to go to a burlesque show but boy did I see much more than expected! Some of the acts ranged from a guy dressed in cowboy attire and swinging a rope doing tricks, to the traditional burlesque dancers with nipple tassels, to amazing aerial acts, to some more shocking acts I rather erase from my memory. There was definitely a lot of nudity, not sure if that’s legal but the midnight show did not leave a lot to the imagination. Between acts was a funny comedian and a go-go dancer. This was definitely a variety show that I would go to again. Expect to stand because there are not many seats, unless you want to get their really early. If your looking for a fun night out with friends or a Bachelorette party I would highly recommend this place!

I came here a month ago for a bachelorette party, we had a great time! This is a variety show, they have comedy, magic, acrobats, and dancing. It was all around entertaining. They have two floors and bars, its mostly standing room, with some tables and chairs. We stayed for the 10pm show and then continued drinking and making friends, we ended up staying for the late night show too! I guess they don’t make people leave, which is awesome. A new cast came out for this show. This is a great time if you have a group. It’s being at a bar, but with constant entertainment going on, which is really fun. Plus it’s pretty sexy too.

whereeee do I even start with this show– ok first off, LMAO. i had… SO much fun. I’ve never been to a burlesque show, although I have seen some of those dancer girls stripping down on stage at Highline Ballroom and the pole dancers at Mister H. Anyway, this is way better. WAY better. Males get sorta nude, and do stand-up. Plus its just fun, and cheaper, and drunker. So their cover is $ 20 at the door. I paid cash, I don’t know if they accept card, but I would suggest cash. My friends & I(group of 8) went here for a bachelorette party at about 10pm on a Friday night. We were seated upstairs, which wasn’t as great as like front row downstairs because the performers hardcore interact with you down there, but still fine. The bar is downstairs, but there is waitress service upstairs. I ran down to the bar and ordered a tequila/seltzer with lime juice, made it a double, and had him put it in a plastic cup. It was about $ 16, the only drink I needed to get the whole 2 hours. AWESOME. The layout of the space upstairs is like a big balcony, and everyone is seated/standing around it looking down. The show itself was fantastic– the girls were amazing, the dudes were hilarious, everybody basically got naked, there was comedy, theater, nudity, booze, crowd interaction, good music, clean bathrooms, overall an awesome experience. Definitely worth the cover. I would highly recommend this for a bachelorette party, a large group outing for a birthday party, or just any time you need a shock factor. I snapchatted a ton of footage of this and my friends were all hitting me up about it like WHERE. ARE. YOU. OMG. hahah yep. one of those places.

I’ve never been to a burlesque show before but thanks to some awesome people that planned this UYE this allowed me my first opportunity. The Slipper Rroom is tucked away on the Lower East Side, LES, with a listed address of Orchard Street, but it’s actually hidden on Stanton and if you’re not familiar with this area of the LES you will miss it. Lucky for me, I’m not afraid to immediately ask for directions, saves time wandering around like a tourist in my own city. For our show the cover was $ 15 in advance, or $ 20 at the door. The venue is set up like a scene from the movie/play Cabaret. Very, very dark brown woods with red accents and a large red stage curtain. On the floor by the stage, there are small intimate round tables with a candle on each, which if you’re sitting in the front, you will be asked to blow out your candle to avoid any mishaps during the aerial portion of the show. Thanks to our Unilocal peeps, Jenn and Michael, we all, about 10 of us, were able to procure a spot on the right side of the second floor balcony, which so happened to be the jumping off point for the aerial scarf acrobat chick… talk about up close and personal… pretty cool. The MC, kept us entertained and riled up with his few magic tricks and jokes. And then of course there is the burlesque portion of the show which is clearly meant for adults only, as you can see from a few of the posted pics. Being a night of first, I decided that I would try my very first Old Fashioned as suggested by MyG(MyYelpGuru), NadZ. The drink was steep at $ 12.00, but worth it as that sucka was hella strong and I only needed the one for the entire time I was there… one drink? Never did that before. One of the disadvantages of being on the balcony is being so far from the one fully stocked top shelf bar downstairs on the main floor. There was a waitress trying her best to work both floors, but as the night progressed she was hardly ever seen on our side of the balcony, so if I wanted another Old Fashioned, I would’ve been waiting a long time. Another disadvantage is how extremely packed this venue was. There were way too many people to the point that if you are claustrophobic you would’ve had a panic attack. Those few things aside, my very first burlesque show was very entertaining. Plus it doesn’t hurt to be amongst a cool set of Unilocal peeps. Thank you Jenn and Michael for setting this up.

Came here recently with the boo to celebrate her 30th birthday. Being a burlesque, I expected some amount of booty-shaking, tassle-knocking debauchery but I could never have anticipated just how wildly outrageous the show could be! From the moment the overweight Jewish man stepped on stage with his curly fro’ and Wonder Woman onesie riding up his sack, I knew we were in for a night of romance. The Slipper Room should be a place on your radar, if you have not been already — and probably even then. From obnoxious aerialists, to gender-bending cowgirl/boys(to START the show!) you will have an absolutely, ridiculous night of laughter. PS — Shout out to the just-wed gay couple together for 25 years in the audience!

Honestly, this was a strange experience.,. in a positive way. I came here for a friend’s birthday and although it was funny, it fell short on sexiness. The crazy meter was up there– a burlesque dancer got completely nude towards the end of her act, which is almost unheard of. I was glad to have witnessed that. Overall, it was okay and I would come back again with friends.

The Slipper Room’s Midnight show more than delivers entertainment for the $ 10 ticket price. I didn’t see anything new, groundbreaking, or boundary pushing. But what they did, they did well. That also makes it an easy show for newbies and non-threatening date nights. The line up included standard acts like a sparkly corset, removed to reveal smaller, then smaller layers of clothing. Also some aerial work and one boy-lesque performer. Plus there’s the expected«it’s your bachelorette party, birthday, etc., so come up on stage for some attention.» Things that improved the over-all experience were: #1. A good MC #2. The stage was not left vacant for extended periods of time — boring the audience and trying to force more people to the bar to increase drink sales. Though you still have plenty of opportunities to get to the bar — between sets, they bring out a go-go dancer for 3 – 4 songs. It’s heavy on the strip-club vibe, so bring your $ 1’s. The place was crowded with a majority of the audience standing — including some drunken idiot at the front & a girl more interested in texting than watching the show. The view from the balcony isn’t great either. Usually I’m all for performers supporting their fellow actors. But in this case a number of the acts that were not on stage crowded near the front — chattering throughout the show and taking up valuable space in the small venue. The performance quality was good over all and certainly worth the $ 10 price tag.
