My friend had a groupon to go here and she took me with her. I am telling you the food was exquisite! One of the best meals I’ve ever had in my life. The mac and cheese — BOMB, the vodka chicken pasta — AMAZING, the steak — ONEOFTHEBEST I’ve ever had.(that sauce that came with it needs to be bottled) Everything was seasoned to perfection. I will most definitely be going back.

We came out for 6⁄12 Starfish and Coffee brunch in honor of Prince after seeing the ad online. The online announcement instructed to RSVP and promised a special starfish and coffee creation by the chef, plus Prince music. When we arrived we were told it was first come first served, they were not using the RSVP. Ok… There was NO signage about the special event. No indication that it was a Prince themed brunch. Why? Once we were seated, it took a long time for the server to come by to ask for our drink order. Prince music was playing. There was no special menu item or mention by the server of that. When I asked her what the chefs starfish and coffee creation was for the occasion, she told me she would bring it to the table. She never brought it. We both ordered the shrimp and coconut grits with poached egg. It was amazing and I would order it again. Overall, atmosphere was cool, food was fresh. But since we went specifically for the advertised special event in Prince’s honor and never got the special signature treats we were promised(and the only indication of the day’s event was the music playing) I was disappointed. I could have had brunch anywhere in the city today. I came to Mist for Prince. The event could have been a great one. But with no signage, no special item menu, no «starfish and coffee» as promised at the advertised«starfish and coffee» brunch… I feel like it was just a marketing trick to get people to the restaurant.

Came for a late night beer, and Alex, manager/bartender was incredibly engaging. Not only did he share with us his favorite wines, but kept us entertained with news of what’s going on in the neighborhood. Will certainly be back– week nights are casual and comfortable. See you soon!

We went to Mist Harlem because we bought a deal through Groupon. As soon as we arrived, the receptionist were welcoming and sat us right away. Then our server Candice(90% sure I have the correct name) greeted us. She was knowledgeable of their menu and informed us of her favorites and most bought items at the restaurant. My husband and I decided to try the Grilled Octopus for appetizer to share, for Entrees I ordered the Lamb Chops and he ordered the Truffle Burger with Bacon. The serving of all 3 items was more than enough for one person. The Grilled Octopus was a delight. It was soft and the tentacles had a wonderful charred smokey flavor to it. Then it came with an olive purée and mashed potatoes — combined all 3 together, was a delight in my mouth. My husband enjoyed and ate the entire burger with the rosemary fries. And the lamb chops? It was grilled to perfection. It was medium inside and had charred outside. Needless to say, my husband and I walked out of the restaurant very satisfied. When we got home, we purchased another groupon deal.

If you are eating here with a large group, DON’T DOIT!!! This is my second experience here… Both with a large group. This party was a PLANNED birthday Sunday Brunch. Restaurant had adequate notice. First, they did not want to print a pre-fixe menu for the party so each person had to listen to the shpeel of what was not available on the menu. Drinks(unlimited mimosas, coffee, tea) was supposed to be included and was NEVER refilled. Water was not even refilled. There was one waitress for a party of 30… Literally! Poor thing was clearly overwhelmed but still pleasant. Meals were all wrong. Half the table ate 1 hour after arrival and the other half two hours after! I can’t even believe how ill prepared this restaurant was. Never again!

The two stars are for the café and gallery. The food was horrible. Our waffles were stale. Fried chicken was bad. Sausage was grainy. We went there for mother’s day brunch. What we did not know and were not informed of is that they had a gospel brunch. The singers were not very good and no one could hear each other talk! Mist: if your going to have a gospel brunch – advertise it before people make reservations.

Had a wonderful time at the Bar at Mist tonight. We wanted to just get a quick drink for cinco de mayo and ended up staying for almost 2 hours — at the bar the whole time! Alex was our bartender, and is incredible: attentive, smart, well-rounded and so great to talk to. He’s extremely knowledgeable about all of the beers, wines and drinks and food available(we had guac, wings and fish tacos –delish) and he made us feel like we were truly having an experience rather than just casual drinks. I’m now looking forward to making this the after-work go to! If you come, look for Alex and ask him to curate your beer flight. You’re welcome :)

We had such a fabulous time at The Mist! We both ordered the salmon with veggies, as well as a tea and a pastry dessert. The salmon and veggies were a great serving size, well seasoned and delicious. The caramel pear pastry was light and fluffy yummy. Our barista, Jihada, was a ball of loveliness, tending to our orders with a beautiful smile and disposition! We also had lovely service from Elijah(sp?). All in all a really great experience that was easy on our wallet!

I came here for a drink with my girlfriend and the ambiance of the bar was very nice. The bartender wasn’t the best. He almost hit me with the metal drink maker and then tried to charge me $ 12 for my glass of wine. I told him that the price was $ 10 because I remember seeing it on the menu and he checked and then changed the price of my bill. I thought that was a little strange. Maybe it was his first day working there. I would probably return.

Say what?! $ 4 for a pint of Ithaca Flower Power? SOLD. Sat at the bar… bartender was cool and attentive. Never had to ask if I could get another pint. The bar itself is well designed and I love the yellow lights in the bar. It looks super clean. Bathrooms were great. Wish that it wasn’t so quiet in there though… maybe it was just the time I went there but there were a lot of people doing their«homework» or wifi mooching at the bar tables with out a drink. So after a few pints of that Ithaca beer I was feeling very self conscious because I didn’t want to disturb the people studying… in a bar… BUT! I’ll have to come by another time for sure because over all it’s a really great place with a great beer collection… oh and also there’s a bunch of typos on the drink menu… ah THATSIT!

Mist is two blocks from my house but i just recently tried it. I only went in the restaurant not the café or bar. I was greeted immediately upon entering the restaurant. The restaurant is slightly dark but also pretty with a chill vibe. They were at the most ten people in the restaurant. We were put in the back which had a good amount of lighting. My table had a caraft of water already there with two mason jars. Im usually a big fan of mason jars as drinking glasses but not in a place like this, it dums down the restaurant. We were looking at the menu when a three member jazz band started playing, the band blended smoothly and effortlessly with the vibe the restaurant is trying to go for. After about ten minutes, we notice that noone had come to our table. we are wanting and ready to order, ten more minutes still noone. i finally stopped one of the expiditer and ask them to send a waiter over. Five minutes later, she showed up, bless her heart… she was totally clueless. We ordered and ask to taste their moscatto and riesling; she brought it and of course she couldnt figure out which one was which. We both decided on their moscatto(it was so good) Our food took a long time to come, about thirty minutes. It was delicious, we ordered mac and cheese and shrimp and grits. The waitress never came back to check on us, it wouldn’t have bothered us except we wanted more wine. But it wasnt meant to be:( Magically after our meal, the waitress came to clear our plates and offered dessert. We love dessert and ask what our choices were… they only had red velvet cake. I hate red velvet cake!!! How dissapointing, as we are gathering our stuff to leave, the host shows up at our tabke to ask if we had made reservations for that night, we replied no and he walked off. I gave this place four stars, because of the band, the atmosphere, ambiance, wine and food. Improvement needs to be in more attentive and knowledgable staff and more dessert selection. The place wasn’t busy yet service was SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW, i hate to see how bad service would be when they would be packed. I will be back. I just hope management read the Unilocal reviews.

To the management: I’ve been to this café numerous times for coffee, a meal, a drink, and to do work. It’s been a nice, comfortable environment so far and the workers have been cordial. However, today, I was incredibly disappointed to see one of the managers, a young white man, threaten to call the police on an immigrant west African man, who brought one of those small one shot bottles of whiskey to the café to add to a drink he purchased, seemingly because he didn’t know he couldn’t bring it in(which probably explains why he didn’t try to hide it). He’s visibly upset and speaking in French so I do not know the content of what he’s saying. But even if someone brings in outside food or drink, calling the police on an already over policed community and people is never the right way to resolve an issue. Moreover, while the man was defensive, he was not violent or having an outburst. So why threaten to call the police on him? We know what the police do to people of color, and black people specifically. There are ways to de-escalate situations and communicate with patrons without getting the police involved. And given the current political situation of police running amok and violently abusing, sometimes killing innocent black people, I find it very disheartening to see this establishment, particularly a white man, threaten to call the police on a black patron. Gentrification is bad enough; having new establishments humiliate people like this and add to our community’s over policing is even more problematic. Would they treat a white man in the manner they treated this man? Anyway, for those wondering, he eventually left and thankfully no police showed up. But really shameful behavior by that manager. He needs to learn how to engage with patrons, especially from the community and take into consideration the racial symbolism of treating people the way he did this man.

The restaurant was a poor experience. While they state to be a farm to table, their interpretation is far from the concept. The items served seemed to be questionable as to if fresh. Our brunch, was horrible! First the menu is really overpriced for what you get and second the actual meal was lack luster more like a bad version of a diner meal. For me, their presentation of the restaurant is a management issue, has management ate their own brunch lately? I have to believe they have not. Given the ambiance and the space, it has potential to be great! On the other hand, the Café side is the . The coffee and the workers make the Café experience great! The food that is located on this side appears more farm to table.

We hosted an Appreciation party for two of our departing staff members. The space was spectacular and perfect for what we had in mind. The mini burger appetizers were a big hit with our attendees, but the chicken lollipops were a bit too crispy for most. The Manager, Sam Mor, was super polite, helpful, and accessible to me while coordinating the event. The staff that was assigned to our party was very friendly, attentive, and professional. I am thinking of other events that we can host at Mist. Thank you, MIST, for making our party an event to remember!

Super cute open/spacious internet café. I had a wrap once that was on the bland side, but it was a hearty size wrap for the money. However, I just stick to the coffee and conversation. I have also been to the restaurant and theater for private events. But the café side also has happy hour with awesome prices.

This review is for the CAFE/BAR. Not the restaurant. So good! Cheap beer, cheap food, the farmers plate is awesome. Wicked awesome. They have a bunch of locally sourced farm to table roasted vedge from the New York area(so they say). Great happy hour deals. I come here to play board games. I come here for drinks after work. I come here to do work. They accommodate all needs and interests. Sometimes the tables are all taken and that is a bummer but really not MIST’s fault. The wifi is fast and free with no stupid time limits.

Mist totally impressed me. It’s an all-in-one venue: a bar, a café, a restaurant, and a sleek event space. I came for a sponsored event so I’m not sure where the food came from(if it was catered or from the Mist kitchen itself), but it was great. The service was good and the employees were really helpful. The space itself is huge so make sure you walk in through the correct doors otherwise you may end up in the café, when you want to be at the bar. Anyway, this spot is a great example depicting how much Harlem is changing… in a GOOD way! It brings a modern, young vibe, to such an old soul area. Love it!

I loved this place! A colleague and I met here recently for a meeting and I was very pleased to find they had so many vegan and vegetarian options. I went with the vegan burrito, which was tasty, but I was eyeing the assortment of roasted vegetables they had on display. The service was very friendly and they even let me park my bike inside their patio. Love it!

So I had dinner here with my family when it was Madiba, and it was so so. Apparently Madiba suddenly closed and it’s Mist again. I just picked up the penne alla vodka /with chicken, and it was delicious! I split it with my son, but next time I’ll get 2 orders. The sauce was rich and creamy, the penne was al dente, and the chicken was tender. We also had the home made fries. They need to tweak the menu a bit and have more to choose from. They should also lower the price. Mist will succeed if they become an affordable neighborhood restaurant with good, consistent food. Good luck!

Not sure what the deal is with this place. It used to be Madiba and was open during the day, which was great! I’ve only ever had coffee, pastries, and lunch items which have all been consistently tasty and the staff is very friendly. I just wish they would open during the day again because, as a self-employed person, I loved using this spot to work.

Our dinner here was excellent. The waitress & staff were very professional but also friendly & warm. The good was delicious. The shrimp & grits reminded me of what I used to get in North Carolina & South Carolina. And the grilled octopus was perfectly prepared – so much better than the grilled octopus you get at other places. In all, was a great night!

Had dinner at MIST with a friend last night and we had a great experience. Our waiter, Alex, was fantastic and made our experience even better. We didn’t get too adventerous with our meals: burger, kale salad, and mac’n’cheese, but everything we had was great. Good drink selections and happy hour can be enjoyed at the table — not just at the bar like many other restaurants. I look forward to experiencing some of the other great things MIST has to offer.

The staff of MIST is super friendly, but the menu is sparse and quite pricey. $ 15 burger and $ 17 oxtail. I like the idea of the community center/coffee shop/public space in Harlem, but the food needs work and should be simpler, more satisfying, far less salty, and less expensive to draw people in.

A friend tried to book his birthday party at MIST and met with the most unfortunate of circumstances with his event planner(ranging from unresponsive to just seemingly inconsiderate). Still he kept working with the planner to finalize the booking. After believing a room, date and time were finalized, invitations were mailed. Then, with weeks to go before the party, critical changes were made by MIST to the room of choice, music availability and the time. Needless to say, he had to find a different venue and rush changes to all guests(virtually all out of towners). It was a horrible experience because expectations were so high for MIST. Take care of your customers and they will take care to get the good word out on you… otherwise, as in this case, you lost good business and potentially several perspective bookings.

Clean, Affordable, Nice Atmosphere, Grown & Sexy Crowd, Seats are arranged in a way that you can see no matter where you sit. So VIP isn’t necessary — Nice. but not necessary. All us regular folk were able to see just fine.(wink wink) I think VIP received free glasses of Champagne and they could order off the menu. I came here to see Paul Mooney and it was GREAT. Will keep The Mist on my radar and be back again and again. Keep up the good work! There is a place to eat inside. Its small but I saw people ordering food and drinks. It looked nice inside. Bathrooms are clean and well kept. Box Office is located inside and consists of two staff member sitting at the counter. I gave it 5 stars instead of 6 because of this lil old lady that kept dividing the crowd based on their ticket… she became annoying after a while. Other than that… it was a cool place and I would definitely return.

Very cool venue! I came with a group of girls for the Thursday comedy show. It was HILARIOUS. We had a great time! The theatre where the comedy show was held was small, but a perfect size for comedy because everyone was feeding off each other’s energy. Really fun! If I lived in Harlem, I would definitely come by and check out a movie or other event. Definitely a good edition to Harlem.

Was back at MIST last week and am loving the developments of the entire space. I’m more on the movie side of things there and the theaters, three of each, have comfortable seating and great sound. The staff are also very friendly and quite competent, unlike those in bigger theaters throughout the city. One great touch, though one I seldom employ just because I’m not a butter fiend, are the different buttery toppings available for your popcorn. I’ve only ever seen one other theater with this(the Pavilion in Brooklyn), so kudos to MIST for having this. They also have a specially made MIST chocolate candy bar, which is pretty cool. Best of all is that its obvious that people are enjoying and taking advantage of having a state-of-the-art independent movie theater and performance space in Harlem. Have to go back soon to eat at their restaurant Harvist.

One Word: CLASSY! I love when I accidentally run into classy establishments that house such a diverse crowd. MIST Harlem is EVERYTHANG! I would like to take some time and talk about the staff. I was blown away by how nice and professional these people were. You normally don’t get an ENTIRE staff of friendly people. I sat at the bar for a while and had a delicious glass of Pinot before heading into the Jumpoff Comedy Show. Ok, I totally lied– I had TWO glasses of Pinot. I had no clue there was this huge room equipped with a stage, lights, etc. This place is hella dope. It’s been coined«Harlem’s Living Room» and I can totally rock with that! The owner and co-owner also introduced themselves during the performance and that definitely gave MIST some brownie points. They made their presence known! In the bar area, there’s a pretty nice LCD projected TV on wall that happened to be showing basketball the night I was there. I heard the food was pretty awesome as well. MIST is fairly new– but this place is getting ready to blow the hell up! The bar only serves beer and wine. There’s a church located directly across the street– I respect their decision to honor the church!

The MIST Harlem is an amazing theater! While indie flicks dominate most of their screenings, The Mist is a fantastic place to go see any film. The venue is brand new, so it’s gorgeous(I’m talking floor to ceiling windows, yo). Staff was super friendly, effiicient, and helpful. Being a die hard food lover, what excites me the most about this theater is the FOOD! The theater manufacters its OWNBRAND of candy bar! What other theater does that? It’s a yummy milk chocolate bar by the way, and if you go I suggest you buy one! Another food lover’s dream is the popcorn station-they have«flavor shakers» that allow you to add your own flavor to your popcorn! I chose White Cheddar-but I saw other good flavors like sour cream and onion and even apple cinnamon! Good bye, over buttered, salty mess poporn of the past-I don’t miss ya! I will DEFINITELY be back as soon as I can. p. s.–MIST is also a restaurant/bar. Wine selection isn’t bad at all, but when I went the line was crazy. Order anything you want at the bar all at once, because if the crowds are anything like what I saw when I went, you will NOT want to wait in line a second time.
