Al Pacino, WOW is all I can say. He is the most amazing, versatile baddie ever. One of the most famous plays Shakespeare has written and he played the Shylock like a master. I was sad to see it go, but I was happy I was able to watch it. Such a great and mesmerizing start to finish.

AWFUL, AWFUL, AWFUL Star-f#$King piece of crap. All around me people were yawning, checking their cell-phones, texting, and praying for this torturous piece of shit to end. Its too bad that this is what the Public theater and Broadway ships out as top of the line Shakespeare. Gives Shakespeare, American Actors, theater, and art in general a bad name. This is dead theater at its deadest. If you just want to see Pacino do his thing — by all means pay your gazzillion dollars and go see this sycophantic turd blossom. If you want an entertaining and/or moving evening of live theater, look elsewhere. egad!

Shylock steals the show… The Merchant of Venice — the famous William Shakespeare play about the Merchant and the money lender, perhaps best known for the«pound of flesh» promised in return for a loan. This is a limited run on Broadway with Al Pacino playing the role of Shylock –and he was just amazing. I say this in spite of the fact that I am not a huge Pacino fan, yet he tore that role up and made it his from start to finish. It was mesmerizing. The play was updated a bit costume wise and was true to the story. There were some places where it plodded but overall it was engaging and the whole production lit up every time Pacino opened his mouth. Absolutely worth seeing if you can snag some seats before it closes.
