Super crowded and loud, almost impossible to enjoy drinks or food here, probably good for people who actually like that type of environment

When I went it was in the summer. So I sat outside and side by side they had the non-smoking with the smoker section. Made no sense it’s literally next to each other. So non-smokers,(like me) and my family were still smelling the cigarettes like we were literally smoking the cigarettes ourselves. Talk about second hand smoke. Other then that food was great.

I haven’t experienced ‘The Half King’ on a busy Friday or Saturday night, so my review may be inconsequential in comparison to others, but every damn time I go for lunch or a drink, I always have the most wonderful of times. Service is prompt and the staff is fun, warm, and courteous. The food is priced well for NYC standards, and it also tastes great. Plus, it’s only a few quick steps from the High Line, which adds to its appeal.

We were walking the High Line when we decided to take a much needed break. We were a larger party(7) so it was nice that they were able to seat us right away. Service was friendly but the food took a little longer to come out than expected. Food was good — we kept it safe by ordering burgers and fish and chips. The spinach salad was large but the dressing had way too much horseradish in it and it overwhelmed it. That was the only truly disappointing dish. This place won’t rock your world but it’s not a place that should be avoided as it’s convenient. Most dishes are $ 15.

Great happy hour(5 – 8 pm). Courteous service and maybe the most rad playlist I’ve heard in an NYC bar. Easy to find«under» the high line.

Food is pretty good. Service is for sh*t. Servers are too distracted socializing to pay much attention.

The food was great! I had the tuna wrap it and was seared on both sides, a little overcooked for seared tuna, but I think it was a good thing. Not sure what quality fish they get since they are kind of a pub. In any case, the flavors were delicious. Lots of great beers on tap and lots of TVs in the bar. Service wasn’t amazing, but worth 4 stars and I’d definitely return.

Visited again on 9÷15÷15. It was about 10:30, they were busy in the other room, but our side only had two other couples. We sat there for about 10 mins before someone brought water, then about another 10 mins before someone came for our order. 10 mins later another person came over to say he was our waiter and check if our order had been taken. The red sangria I raved about last time was replaced by a white sangria that was just OK. For $ 27 a pitcher it should be fantastic. We had the artichoke and spinach dip which was really good! Again, we had to wait at least another 10 mins after we were done to get the check, then another 10 to get the card run and get out. It took way too long for drinks and an appy. We won’t be back.

After searching for a restaurant at or near Chelsea pier and finding nothing but fast food, we asked a local who guided us to half king. We were pleasantly surprised by the menu and the service. Their veggie burger was one of the best I have ever had. The clientele was mostly young and the bar was busy. They had 2 rooms for dining and we got a table quickly. For NYC the prices were reasonable and they have happy hour nightly.

Came here on a beautiful sunny day meeting with a group of friends and wanted to sit outside for drinks, but that was for full service dining only. Being right next to the high line they were pretty packed on Saturday afternoon. Our only option was to sit inside on the drinks only side and it was great! They have two huge couch banquets that sit well for a group of 6 – 8. If you have a smaller group they have smaller tables as well. They had a few beers out of tap which seemed to be every one I wanted but their list was good all the way down it didn’t seem to matter. We ordered a few appetizers and they were all good standard bar food. We ended up staying there for more than a few hours and the server took great care of us. This is a good place to meet for drinks and have a good afternoon with some buddies and they have food if you want it.

I came here with my brother and his friends after a show in the city. I really enjoyed this place because it felt like a «home-y bar» from back home. Service was good, food was really good for bar food as well.

The best Macaroni and Cheese ever! Super nice bartenders, ice cold beer. Divey like I like it. Reasonable prices for Manhattan.

I came here with 4 friends for brunch on a Saturday. We sat outside and had an umbrella to sit under to protect us from the sun. One person got eggs Benedict, one got the chicken panini, and the rest of us got the sirloin burgers with various toppings. The food was excellent. All of the burgers were cooked to each of our likings, the fries were great. and everyone really enjoyed their meals. The brunch items came with a small drink and the mimosa I had was good. The cons: There was some confusion when we asked to order some appetizers and which menus we should be ordering from. The menus were switched out twice and we were told we couldn’t order the apps we wanted. The bathroom situation is not the best as it is 1 stall and a line builds up in a small hallway and is very cramped and hot. Overall, a nice spot and would recommend.

While walking the high line we found this gem of a restaurant and enjoyed a delicious lunch here on their patio. It was a great stop and has a varied menu. Worth visiting! We were a group of three, we ordered chicken panini, fish and chips and also chicken tenders. Highly recommend the chicken panini however the batter in the fish and chips came uncooked and it wasn’t enjoyable.

Went in with my party of 4 after a couple of hours walking on the high line in the hot sun. We were looking forward to cooling down with a nice pitcher of sangria. Their white wine sangria was mediocre at best for $ 27. A bottle of nail polish broke and spilled in my purse and i was taking it out and cleaning up the mess when the bartender came up to our table and leaned in way too close for comfort to very abruptly and rudely tell me to take it outside where it wouldn’t «give him a headache». Not the best way to talk to a customer. I am very disappointed and will not be coming back.

The Half King Bar and Restaurant NY: Manhattan: Chelsea 9pm Tuesday 22nd April 2015 Three Stars After some Zog Bowling, we wandered into this 23 Street eatery. We were immediately seated at table outside. The service was overall good. The wait for drinks and food was on the longer side. I had the Shepard’s pie. The portion was decent, the lamb was okay, and the potatoes were rich but not creamy. I would have preferred to have some peas or something with a contrasting texture.

I love the setting of this bar, especially the outside seating on a mid summer day, the service is very welcoming and the food is delicious, My 2 favorites are the lobster soup and the sweet potato fries, For the drinks a glass of white wine. Very delicious and served in decent pottery!

1. It’s far enough from the subway that wandering tourists will never find it! 2. There is a lot of space and an accommodating staff. 3. Hasn’t everyone wanted to eat Buffalo Balls?(We had 3 orders.) 4. Nice-looking beer list… but they might be out of your first choice. Make sure you have a back-up. 5. The nachos were nothing spectacular, but it’s barfood. Waddaya want? –Drink Club NYC is a roving group of NYC drinkers, a new bar every week

Came here on a Tuesday night around 9pm with a group of 6 and was able to find a table. It was quite lively for a weeknight, and some brave souls were even out on the patio despite the rather chilly conditions(but I’m speaking as a visiting Californian so take that how you will). We just ordered a round of beers and some snacks to accompany them – they were having a special of mushroom quesadillas and they turned out to be surprisingly good! I’m always amazed when I run across decent Mexican-style fare in NY. Our server was on the ball and we all had a very nice time. STEPHJUDGEMENT: A solid place for a casual meet-up with friends!
