This swanky events space is a nice place on a sunny day, but don’t get too comfy on those cushioned seats that line this place – the prices of the drinks are stiff! I guess there’s a hidden fee for the fantastic real estate, but you could go broke here. It’s best suited to the daylight hours anyway, so maybe have one or two here and then carry that sunny feeling out into your night.

I really love the view and the interior design of the hotel. There was an event there and we had unlimited sodas. My coke was alright, but I heard the spirite was not good. I also heard that the juices were a lot better. We had the beef sliders and the portobello mushroom sliders. I love the portobello mushroom sliders. The beef slider was a little dry. I had the crispy, fried chicken. I mean it’s fried chicken, who does not love that. I had a nice time because we get to relax and celebrate the end of the school year and the beginning of a two month vacation. I could not have asked for a better place to celebrate. Maybe I will have my wedding here in the future.

Great outdoor space for both when it’s warm and cold. When it’s warm it is obviously beautiful with a nice breeze, when it is cold the area is closed in and with plenty of super-hot heat lamps. I really enjoyed my warm apple cidar with rum and polenta fries(though slightly on the expensive side). Lovely staff.

I would like to preface by saying this is a review for the establishment as a whole: food, ambiance, and service. I returned last night on a crystal clear and beautiful spring night in New York. Living in the neighborhood and having finished grocery shopping at Chelsea Market, we decided to stop and have an impromptu dinner out to take advantage of the weather. Now, the food here is A-Ok. More 2-star than 4 but with all items very reasonably priced considering a) location and b) environment. We had the prosciutto pizza and the burrata caprese salad, along with the guava drink and a glass of rose. The food was EH. It was good, but it wasn’t GOOD. Both required salt and pepper to taste as the flavor(or lack there of) was a bit bland. They were cooked properly, came fairly quickly, and seemed to have been made from fresh ingredients. The guava drink was good, and the $ 10 glass of house rose was also ok. Price is $ so you get what you pay for. What you’re really here for is the décor and ambiance. It’s a beautiful setting to spend any nice day or evening. The lanterns above can be both romantic and festive depending on your mood and who you’re with. There is also hardly any wait any time I’ve been there. Last night, the wait was ~30minutes. There’s a longer wait for an indoor table at Westville on a nice night out. So 2 stars for food + 5 stars for décor /ambiance = 3.5 star average. But since there are no half stars, 4 stars it is.

I always see a line outside this random door at the Maritime and I could never figure out what it was for. Turns out it’s this almost secret backdoor entrance into The Cabanas, a fun indoor-outdoor bar/club on one side of the hotel. I loved the look of the place with the plants, checkered beachy lounges and the pizza I had there was excellent! I was there for a work event so obviously liked the people there. I’ve heard that it can be a weird crowd otherwise but I can’t say for sure. It was nice enough that I would probably check it out again on a «regular» night although probably not worth waiting in line?

came here for a nonprofit fundraiser — open bar and passed hor d’oeuvres we got there right at the start of the private event and the space looked really nice. as it started to fill up the place still looked really nice but was also really hot. i know it’s october and all but seriously they needed some AC and considering i am always freezing that is really saying something. so in general open bars are hit or miss. it really depends on the event’s budget and type of bartenders so i know i cant totally hold cabanas responsible. however, this still was definitely a miss. they were only offering well drinks and i had not even heard of some of their well brands, but needless to say they were pretty offensive. the prosecco was screaming headache hangover and the vodka sodas reminded me of drinks that cost $ 1 back in college(in such scenario well brands are more appropriate). there were no creative options available and towards the end of the night they ran out of multiple things(how does a bar run out of prosecco and white wine??) really disappointing. also there was only 1 bar in the back of the area and as you can imagine it was pretty crowded all night. i wont even waste space talking about the hor d’oeuvres. they were practically nonexistent and people were eating them out of necessity and not enjoyment. Unilocal summarized it well, «meh».

I was indecisive about the 3 star because the place itself is not bad, outside area is a nice size plenty of space to sit & chill in the inside area as well but I settled on the 2 stars because the drinks are very disappointing. I was here for an event $ 10 dollar cover not bad in comparison. We settled down & got some drinks, started w the Frozen Strawberry margaritas since it was so hot out … Well at least the frozen part of the drink did its job by cooling me off a bit as for the drink itself… Eeeuu it tasted like flavored water not very good at all. After that horrible drink, I decide to try the Pomegranate Stoli & Cranberry… Ahh no better luck here definately lacking some alcohol. My friend had a Jack & Coke which seemed to b the better choice & would have been better had the soda not been flat. The place itself is not bad decent music, good atmosphere but for what they charge u for crappy drinks id rather go elsewhere.

I am constantly going to the same bars over and over so I had purchased a travel zoo voucher to the cabanas… trying to step outside the box… The place itself was really nice and has a fun vibe, drinks were OK, but the staff is horrible. Horrible may be an understatement. They were annoyed that they had so many people there with the vouchers(they expire next week so I guess everyone waited until the last minute), but when you have a voucher, you must make a reservation, therefore they could have forseen a large crowd on this particular Thursday night and should have maybe had some more staff on hand. I had to wait literally 15 minutes to order at the bar. There was 1 waitress on duty for the entire place. I tried to be very friendly but it seemed like everyone there was equally annoyed as my friend and I were. There was no line for the ladies room, that was nice. I would think the purpose of listing your business on a deal website like gilt city or travel zoo would be to get some new clientele, but from what I saw, it doesn’t seem anyone would be returning there in the near future.

Great vibe, great atmosphere, great time. Awesome venue, I highly recommend. To be fair though I strolled in with a date, my friend had table service and I had been drinking the whole day. Might have been different if I tried randomly with just the boys. But I do remember my friend telling me table service did not include bottles. It was provided with the fact that you or your guest would have your bill reach a certain amount.

The Cabanas is just lovely. I love the Maritime hotel and it’s boat theme, and being at Cabanas makes me feel like I’m on an elegant cruise ship, taking in a beautiful night at sea.

To be honest, the most I remember about this space is the ridiculous prices for drinks that came in a plastic cup and weren’t very strong. I also remember the music being pretty decent, but I made a song request 3 times and the DJFINALLY played a Katy Perry song but not the one I asked for… DOUCHE! and it wasn’t as if he was playing house or techno all night or anything and playing Katy Perry would have been completely out of the blue. he was playing top 40s and I’m pretty sure TGIF falls into that category! The space itself is nothing too special, pretty well sized dance floor so you don’t end up elbowing the couple next to you, an über fancy restaurant downstairs, and a bathroom that isn;t just 1 stall! It also wasn’t packed to the brim, but just enough so it felt like the night was groovin’! I would come back to give this place a second chance and would definitely preparty for this… but probably in a few months

3.5−4 stars (Saturday night review). I came here for Halloween last year, but didn’t feel that I could write an appropriate review then. I went again this past Saturday and thought it was okay. It’s a good place to come with friends if you want to just hang out, but there’s no real place to dance(nor were people really dancing). The place has beautiful décor. The main room has high ceilings, bright, and is th best area to have celebrations(just hang out with friends). There another darker room that has a fireplace — very relaxing and cozy feel. The third area was more of a dark bar-ish feel. The music was nothing special. If you’re looking for a nice looking place to enjoy friends’ company — this is a good place. If you want something more lively and/or want to dance — head down to Hiro.

I love Cabanas! My type of scene. There’s a large bar up front, room to talk, mingle, dance or whatever the hell else you desire. Towards the back is an open area where you can stand outside and just enjoy the view. It’s way better in the summer. I’m 27, can’t do the«Hiro» thing downstairs anymore and Cabanas is great for that little escape you may need. The booze is a bit overpriced, but come on what did you expect? A ravishing bartender handing you drinks? Uh, no. I would definitely be back here, it’s spaced out so you don’t have to talk to people you really don’t want to and can just have a really good time with your buddies.

I’ve been here a few times now, and experienced the Cabanas in its nightclub form and its happy hour form. I’ve had a good time in both of its forms. This place has more of a «lounge» feel to it. If you want to go clubbing, go downstairs to Hiro! I personally like it when I have more space to move around and mingle… so I’d choose Cabanas over Hiro any day. Although it’s a rooftop bar turned covered porch, it’s open year round. During the winter months the Cabanas has overhead heating so you don’t get TOO cold. I recall that the temperature was still chilly, so hopefully they can get more heaters this upcoming winter. Or do what 235th does, and give everyone robes! The drinks are pricey,(I paid $ 4 for a small glass of diet coke), but what do you expect? It’s New York.

With apologies to Jay Z… Concrete jungle where drinks cost too much There’s nothin’ you can do When you’re at Maritime The cabanas at the Maritime try to emulate LA but are just nasty, swampy, trashy, and massively overpriced to boot. It’s literally a jungle up there with fetid, humid air. They charge $ 17 for a mixed drink in a plastic cup – no joke. There is a smoking alley between the two cabanas, but the whole place may as well be the official smoking section, because the alley is not confined, and the polluted air circulates. There are so many better rooftops in this city, such as Upstairs at the Kimberly Hotel. Don’t waste your time and money here.

Ok, I was confused and thought this place was Hiro. Who knew that was actually downstairs? I came here close to midnight and knew it would be a hassle to get in. So I googled g/l names, and told the front we were on the Velvet list. Sweetness, we were able to get in right away, and the girls(at least) didn’t have to pay. I never did believe in paying for clubs… The place is spacious, with about three rooms-a bar area, a lounge spot, then you walk on over outside for another lounge area. The music was good, typical top 40s. It’s a pretty place I’d definitely go back to, as a more chill place(versus clubbin’ it up downstairs).

Was trying to go to Hiro, but it was rented out that night for a private party, and Cabanas is right next door, so we went… The line was about 25 deep, and we were told they were getting packed with too many guys and recommended we get a table. We didn’t want to wait, so we did. Turns out, it was not packed and about an hour later, the line was nil. Overall, its a chill place, but we were looking to dance at Hiro, so it was no real comparison. If sitting in the lounge area, you can barely hear the music(they said they couldn’t play it any louder since it was connected to a hotel). The crowd was meh, and we left after about an hour or two.

Me and a friend, last minute place. A lot better than most bars you find around that area. Reasons why it’s better than Hiro: –Not overcrowded where you can’t even stand in one place and be pushed 1000x –No cover –Better looking people –No smell from sweaty people dancing –Not full of ghetto fabulous people I probably made like 15 groups of friends last night just from going there. People are nice, they’re not cheap! I got like 5 drinks last night all from different people. Men dress to impress and women there are just plain pretty! Not packed, no line, bright enough to know who you’re talking to, but dark enough to hide from the guy you were talking to earlier. I’m a fan!

If you’re going to be mugged and robbed, metaphorically speaking, there is no place better than the Cabana at the easily excessible on Saturday Nights Maritime Hotel. 5 of us wanted a place to drink and talk and have fun. Boy this place was a vortex for that very aspiration. The drinks are extremely strong here. Had a Manhattan, diet rum and coke, three vodka cranberries, and some kind of a foo-foo drink that was also VERY strong. Each round of 5 drinks cost a WHOPPING $ 72 after tip. Very pricey but I had so much fun. The people who hangout here are even friendly too. I went to order a round of 5 vodka cranberries and a sweet friendly drunk patron was more than nice enough to notice that I was obviously too ploughed to try and bring these five drinks back to the table and she escorted me over and even took three glasses off my hand which was such a classy thing to do. I really don’t remember much of what happened here. My friends said that I was progressively screaming and laughing and having blissful time. I do remember that one of my friends climbed 10 foot up one of the lamp poles and that no one around really noticed. What I love about New York is that we arrived here pretty late at 12:30pm and we weren’t rushing because the last call is at 4am. We tried to sneak in a final round at 3:56am and the very savvy bartendress politely suggested that we stop at her boss’es suggestion. But it wasn’t over… I think for the next hour and a half, we were ambitiously looking for«secret bars» that stilll serve after 4am. I think I even asked a police officer for advice and he laughed at me. I lost my friends at one point and hovered past 6 or seven clubs all telling me to go just a little further. In retrospect, maybe they were telling me to take a swim to New Jersey. At 5:15am, we were in a McDonalds somewhere on 7th Ave in the meatpacking District trying to figure out what time bars opened in NY hoping that there might be a place bright and ready for us at 6am so that«our night would not end.» Luckily that stupid idea was put to rest. The only other thing I recall is being in a cab that got to Central Station from the Meat packing District in what seemed like 15 seconds. After that, the only other thing I remember was that it was noontime on a Sunday. Soberly looking back, I can tell you that the place has a very fun, electric vibe that is loud, but not too loud or crowded that old friends can’t have a conversation, but not so quiet that if we all become bellicose from one drink too many that we would stand out. It’s pretty much the perfect party place in lower Manhattan.
