Simply called to get a pricing on stockings. Woman over the phone was incredibly rude and unhelpful. And stockings for $ 99? Great job not selling me on anything!

On the one hand it’s fun to shop at these kinds of places or rather watch your significant other put stuff on, on the other it’s over-priced, some of the stock looks really old and the staff aren’t the most friendly.

Great place! Very professional. Very high-end. The Baroness herself was not in when I was there but one of her employees(I believe her name was Persephone) was there. She was extremely friendly and helpful. I give The Baroness and big thumbs up and will return once I get my next paycheck haha. The store also does repairs!

My experience with The Baroness was great. Walking in without knowing much about latex, she took the time to explain all aspects of it(qualities of latex, care, fashion, aesthetic, fetish, etc.) and to fit me with the best pieces for my body type. I have become a huge fan of hers and respect her ability to create designs that highlight a woman’s figure well. I highly recommend a trip to her store.

I’m back again two years later and want to recommend The Baroness again. She has a brand new Website with better photos and ordering application. She no longer hosts her monthly party, making her more available to discuss clothing, take fittings etc. Her staff is eager and helpful, and always ready to please. Still, check the store hours(they are open till 9 on Thursdays.) And call or email in advance if you need special attention. I picked up a new Chiquita skirt and top, and my girlfriend looks HOT!

«You have to lube up your leg in order to get into those stockings.» I don’t usually go out to shop regularly for latex. In fact, this was my first time, and it was mostly for a photo shoot I was modeling in. But I ended up wearing my skirt I bought pretty regularly. The material keeps me surprisingly warm on rainy nights. The only thing is that it is a very small shop in terms of selection When The Baroness is not in, her apprentice Persephone is glad to help. But there are times when The Baroness herself is in, and it was probably one of the very few times I get to chat and vibe about fashion with one of the finest niche fashion designers. Also, everyone there are friendly and helpful when helping me try on the outfits in the dressing room. All in all, a good experience for a first time shopper.

Why am I the first review here? Weird. Anyway. I am a fan of the latex fashion. A girl feels pretty all gussied up and plastered from head to toe in rubber. It’s just true. Try it if you don’t believe me. Anyway I think I got a little spoiled, doing most of this type of shopping in Europe, specifically London, where the scene and clothing options are both much larger. In NY we are pretty limited, which I find sad. But The Baroness has been a purveyor of fine latex garments for decades, as well as throwing a monthly fetish party, which I understand to be the longest running in the city. Haven’t been to a party yet, but I finally got a chance to check out the shop. It’s more about being a place to get ideas, and then you can talk to her about being custom fit with the garment of your own specifications. You can buy off the rack(which I did) but I have a feeling that most of her business is custom design. The store is really small and she doesn’t have a lot of room to display things, so there wasn’t a ton of stuff to look at. Her website is a better place to get ideas. I was a little peeved that she seemed to be too busy with whatever she was doing in the front of house(some sort of business meeting?) to help me zip up the dresses. These are the kinds of clothes a girl needs help squeezing and zipping into, and she wasn’t the most attentive — I think she needs a sales staff actually — or at least a professional zipper-upper. The quality and craftmanship of the garments here is definitely not the high quality that I am used to(i.e. Atsuko Kudo’s designs). There is more glue showing on the inside of the garments than I would like. But, as a latex shop in NY, there’s a ton of history here and some pretty cute clothes(at what-you-would-expect-yet-very-high prices). And props to her for keeping up what little artsy-perviness there is left in this boring, vanilla, banker-filled town.
