The burger. Get the burger! Oh and get GIL! The server, Gil… amazing. Came here with a groups friends for brunch for my birthday and really enjoyed it. We did the brunch special, get a full menu item and 1 hour and a half of free mimosas, screw drivers, and bloody Mary’s for $ 30. This was such a great deal. I got the white Shakushka, probably spelled this wrong, but it was so tasty, I loved the white sauce so much! My friends got the Cuban sandwich and the burger! The burger was so good, I actually stole and extra bite from a friend. I’ve never had a burger seasoned so well at a restaurant. We didn’t add any more condiments. My friends and I enjoyed this place so much!

We stopped in for a drink on a whim. What a great find! We ordered bloody Mary’s and a few people had beer. They were having brunch when we were there, that equally looked great. The bloody Mary’s were made fresh and boy were they good, I would drive from NJ just to have one of these(especially right now with this hangover). The inside of this place was really cute and you could sit at a table that was inside, but felt like you were outside. Would definitely recommend to someone looking for an intimate brunch place in lower Manhattan.

I’m shocked that this place is not averaging 4 stars. I’ve been coming here for years and the food is absolutely delicious. I’ve never had a bad dish. I’ve been referring my friends to this restaurant through the years and they all agree that this restaurant is fantastic. I highly recommend this little tapas restaurant.

Been here quite a few times — both on dates and in larger groups. It’s so easy to miss this place if you’re not looking for it, but it’s totally worth a try! The food is phenomenal — I highly recommend the Gambas al Ajillo, the Abondigas and the Medalliones with red wine reduction sauce. You won’t be disappointed! Oh. The red Sangria. Amazing. But dangerous since it’s so delicious! The only reason I didn’t give Tapeo 5 stars is because it can be tough to get a table at times. If you’re more than 2 people, I’d recommend reserving a table in advance, especially during happy hour hours.

Fabulous food and service with a very unique ceviche with kiwi and savory flavors in a generous portion. Loved my cod croquettes also and feeling the vibe! Thanks so much!

This place is me and my roommate’s go to for dinner, and we come here frequently. ALWAYS get there to order before 7pm though, since the BOGO tapas end at that time. However, definitely worth it to pay full price as everything is delicious. We mostly come here for the Bombay Style Mussels, which are so good. They have a coconut curry sauce that I crave sometimes. They give you bread too, so I end up dipping it in the sauce. We always get the salad of the day, it’s mixed greens are refreshing and the it has the perfect amount of dressing on it. The calamari is crispy with just enough breading, but the aioli sauce that it comes with is to die for. Every time we come we get those three things without fail and then always try one new dish! Definitely a cute place to take some one and catch up or on a date. It’s never too crowded or loud which is nice.

I love this place for brunch! The sweet potato/potato mix that comes as fries with the brunch items are sooo delicious! The burger is also unreal. The bottomless brunch is also a great deal. The service is really fun and great – it’s amazingly not busy during brunch and they’ve always been super attentive and fun. I only took off a star for the lack of brunch items without eggs because I’m one of the only people on earth that doesn’t eat eggs, my b.

I had the absolute pleasure of having brunch there last Sunday and I highly recommend it! Not only is the brunch till 5pm(which is rare in the city especially for the area), my friends walked in at 4:45pm and they still have us our complete 2 hours worth of unlimited drinks! The food was amazing and the waiter and bartender were great. The atmosphere was intimate which was a welcomed change from my normally party brunch-life. Normally I’m an uptown«bruncher» but anytime my friends suggest doing something different(because they’re too lazy to go uptown), this place will definitely be my first choice. I can’t wait to go back again

Excellent albeit smallish place on the LES. Great sangria and really delicious tapas. Cool place to meet for drinks or some food with friends. The neighborhood is also a great place for walking and exploring if you appreciate diversity and all that NYC has to offer. Highly recommend Tapeo 29!

Summery: Overpriced, overly fried croquets, overly aggressive bartender, Happy Hour«deal» not so happy. I gave this place a try for the first time last night, I was both intrigued by the tapas, and the happy hour deal on the menu that read«Happy Hour till 8:00, by one tapa get the second for free for equal or lesser value». My boyfriend and I were seated at the bar, and we got a pitcher of pretty great red sangria for only $ 25. Great HH deal! But, after that, things went downhill. The bartender was extremely aggressive with what we should order, and kept questioning our food decisions as if we didn’t know what a croquet was, or that we should pick something else instead. Once we got our food both the ham and cod croquets were overdone, the outside was no longer light and crispy, just sad and dark after spending too much time in the fryer. The garlic shrimp was delicious, as were the lamb and beef meatballs, but the rest was subpar. When it came time for our check, we were surprised to see that the happy hour tapas deal were not buy one get one free, even though we made our order before 8:00. The bartender said that the HH deal ended at 7:00 at the bar, not 8:00, and refused to give us any discount. Nowhere on the menu does it state that you can’t get the tapa food discount until 7:00 if seated at the bar. Needless to say there are plenty of better places in the neighborhood to go to for both food, and service.

Came here for my friend’s birthday dinner on a Monday night. I am a fairly picky eater, so I was nervous that nothing on the menu would appeal to me. I decided to play it safe and ordered the Patatas Bravas(crispy potatoes/yams), the Medalliones de Percha(hanger steak with chimichurri & red wine dipping sauces), and the Brochetas de Pollo(grilled chicken thighs). Since we were there for happy hour we got the chicken dish for free with our drink purchase. Score! The food was DELICIOUS. The meats were juicy and flavorful, and the sauces were a fantastic complement… Especially the red wine sauce! We were the only table in the restaurant for some time, and or server(nice Israeli girl) made sure we were well taken care of. I would definitely come here again.

This is one of my regular spots, absolutely love this place! I’ve been here for 2nd dates during their comfortably empty weekday happy hour. I’ve also reserved a table of 4 on weekends where we ordered tons of tapas and sangria and(ahem) if I remember correctly we may have gotten some free goodies for being great guests as well :) Their food is incredible and easy to order for a variety of tastes. I have dreams about how good the steak with gorgonzola and shallots is… Pretty reasonably priced. Bartenders and staff are friendly. The only thing I would be wary of is the small capacity. Tables don’t really sit more than 4 or 6 comfortably. Its a great spot for couples though with the intimate atmosphere.

This place is way cool. My husband and I drove by one night and it looked very romantic from the outside with the red lights and we decided to try it the week after. It wasn’t romantic but it was definitely a cool place to have dinner and wine. The staff was great, they were very attentive and friendly, it didn’t feel like we were being«checked on» by phony wait staff, it was genuine regular people asking how we were doing and what we should try. We had some wine(can’t remember but it was delish), the croquettes, the ham platter(?) and chorizo al vino which I can eat two pounds of I think(disclaimer: I do love chorizo). We went on a perfect summer night sat by the window/door and felt like we were seated outside. It was like a half in spain/half in NYC experience. I loved the tapas, wine, vibe, staff everything. I will definitely return.

I’m actually astounded by the number of positive reviews this place has gotten. Did I just visit on a bad day? I picked this place for a dinner with a few friends; tapas is always great for groups, and the happy hour at Tapeo seemed too good to pass up(buy 1 tapas, get 1 free). As it turned out though, that just meant we got double the terribly-cooked food. We started off with a pitcher of pomegranate margarita, which was $ 25 happy hour, somewhat standard. It amounted to basically four glasses. This and the small surprise birthday dessert at the end of the meal were the only passable items — everything in-between was honestly the most awful, laziest-cooked items I’d tasted in awhile, and I don’t say that lightly. The food took awhile to come. We had the patatas bravas, chorizo al vino, shrimp, and paella Valencia style(Spanish meats x seafood combined). The chorizo was barely edible, and it was cooked dry to the point of no taste. Long after we finished the tapas, we were still waiting for the paella. When it finally arrived, it was a disappointment. The mussels arranged on top weren’t fresh at all(when you take a bite of something with the weird conviction that it’ll lead to indigestion very soon, it’s not a promising sign), the rice was mushy, and there was barely any meat. I would give a one star for the food alone and other details, such as the absurdly sticky tables and the wobbly stools(we each had to swap our stools out). I read in one of the reviews about the dimly-lit, romantic ambience; there wasn’t anything romantic about constantly feeling one’s arms adhere to the tables. The service seemed friendly enough, which made me feel a little bad that the food was so terrible. There are so many great tapas places in LES(I’m thinking about Nai, a favorite), that there’s no point on settling for one that’s less than mediocre, even with the lure of good happy hour specials. This morning, I messaged my friend and we talked about being forced to pop Pepcids last night. Don’t let it happen to you.

The most authentic spanish food I’ve had in NYC. The croquetas bilbao and seafood paella are phenomenal. The staff is the chillest and played Ja Rule pandora when we drunkenly requested it. Also, a great place to go if you’re all about that dim lighting

Great experience here! The food was all extremely delicious; we tried the chorizo, manchego, sauteed shrimp, jamon croquettas, sangria and dessert. All were absolutely outstanding. Additionally the chef came out to see how we liked everything, made sure we were having a great experience. There was a large party of us there celebrating a friend from overseas and they even enhanced our night with a complimentary round of shots. Any place that goes above and beyond to ensure a great meal is had by all is the sort of place I want to go every night and most certainly for special occasions! HIGHLY recommend!

Not to bad… The place isn’t easy to find. No big signs or banners or anything. Just a gigantic wooden door, ohhhh and a small chalkboard outside of said wooden door. We stumbled across it… Literally When we walked in there was only two other people inside. There was also only two visible employees. A blue haired hipster looking bar tender and a realllly hipstered out waiter attending to the pair of people eating. We sat at the bar. The bar tender quickly warmed up to us and overall she made the experience. As per usual I looked on Unilocal to see what deal if any there was. There is/was(depending on when you read this) a Unilocal incentive that said«by checking in get one of 29 surprises, just show this to your server» Both the employees had nooooo clue what it was that I was showing them… They even called the manager who claimed«there’s no Unilocal specials I’m aware of»… And get this, like a smart ass new yorker the manager tells the employee to give me and my bud a hug and kiss as our surprise. Huh??? Well in efforts to not pimp herself out the bartender asked us what we like to drink. And we actually teamed up with her to make a drink from the ground up… The drink was delicious! We dubbed it the hugs and kisses shot. So if you drop in and see the blue haired bartender ask her for hugs and kisses and know that you’ll get a good drink and not a slap on the face :) For food I got the chorizo small plate. And he got the shrimp small plate. The chorizo was… Meh? It had this sweet tangy weird sauce on it. If you’ve ever had those meatballs people make around the holidays. Ya know the crock pot meatballs where you put ketchup and grape jelly in the crock pot and let it do its thing… Yea kinda tasted like that sauce on bacon. After a few bites I got sick of it. Rob(my buddy I was visiting) got the shrimp. Now this strongly reminded me of shrimp scampi just without any pasta. His was delicious. We ended up trading halfway through because he liked mine more(to much garlic for him) and vice versus
