Great to grab a quick bite! $ 6 guac and chips(tasted great, pretty decent portion, we finished the chips with the difference free hot sauces available at the counter) and $ 4 tacos. We came here on Tuesday night, after Unilocaling for cheap Mexican food. As most people ordered to go, we happened to be the only two people to sit in the outside area — a small cute bar-type sitting space with 5 or 6 high chairs and nice lights hanging from above. Because the portion of the road directly adjacent to the sidewalk on which the sitting area is located was closed for construction work, we were actually sheltered from traffic and it felt like being on a pedestrian-only street. Beware that it’s not a proper sit-down restaurant, just a window in the wall on Bowery street! You can either order to go or sit on the few high chairs provided. Once you know that, it’s really great for what it is! I’d definitely come back.

Great spot for a small quick bite… literally small quick bites. Tacos are even smaller than the authentic ones from Mexico and even though these tacos are gone within 2 bites they are worth it, just order 4 of them just in case so you won’t leave hungry. Their guacamole is delicious even with no tomatoes and a little more lime than the usual guac. The outdoor sitting area is great for those late summer nights; I’m surprised at the amount of people that were here at 10pm when you have Hecho en Dumbo two doors down.

Pretty weak tacos. I might be spoiled, living in chicago all these years, but I never had a taco this poor at any taqueria in chicago, ever. Salsa wasn’t very good either. $ 4 for a street style taco, and I have pretty high expectations. I’m probably asking too much for Manhattan tho. Find somewhere else to eat!

I used to go here when it was called Taco Box. For $ 6, you’d get Nachos with refried beans, poblano-tomatillo salsa, onion, cilantro & guacamole. For another $ 3, you could add chicken and have an awesome $ 9 lunch. Today I showed up and found that the name changed. «Taco Bar». I ordered the same thing I always do but it came out to $ 10. «Okay, the prices went up» I thought to myself. As I’m waiting for my food, I noticed the menu looked a little different too. Sure enough, my nachos come out slathered in cheese. JUSTCHEESE, no beans, salsa, onions, cilantro or guac. Even though I ordered chicken(now $ 4, up from $ 3), there were only a few small pieces. Realizing this lunch was not going to be very good, I asked for some hot sauce, but they no longer offer it in the small, «to-go» containers. What a disappointment. The cheese wasn’t even good. I would have given this place 5 stars originally. Now it’s about a 2. Because I felt ripped off and cheated, 1. Never going back.

Great great great food! Love to be able to sit outside and eat a cheap and excellent spanish dish. As a vegetarian, i ordered the veg enchiladas and they were SOOOGOOD! Comforting and in a dish filled with refried beans. Just the way i like it! My friend ordered the pork taco and said they were to die for!

Space: This seasonal place was a favorite lunch spot last summer. It’s a fun hangout outside of b-bar, also great if you are alone. Food: Mexican Cesar salad is really tasty but it’s now so disappointing with their expensive chicken option… for an extra $ 4.00 they give you 10cents worth of chicken. When I complained to the cashier he said they have different chefs. The tacos also leave a lot to be desired. I don’t recommend.

Very good tacos loving the joint. Their chicken tacos, amazing! Its connected to B Bar & Grill but a separate business and their name is Taco Bar now.

This used to be my main spot for workday lunches but they recently changed their menu – removed the awesome quesadillas and enchiladas and jacked up the price of the tacos while also making them smaller and blander. The veggie tacos don’t even have beans, and the dry(single) tortilla falls apart. I once loved you, Taco Box, but now it’s time to move on.

Used to go to this place often when i worked at the condominium just behind the 7 eleven across the street. Could be a 4 star place if the food wasn’t so over priced. I’ve stood next to soo many people who get their tacos and say«Thats it ?! « Is it worth it is the question ? For me it was. Kind of a hesitant yes you can say. Do i really want to spend 10 bucks on two tacos ? Tried to go once or twice a week to save $ but their steak taco is to die for try it once i promise you will be hooked lol

Used to love this place They decided to do a full menu change. Limited offers, more expensive — wait a few months let them figure out if they did the right thing.

Three good reasons to go to Taco Box: 1) It’s literally in the same building as B-Bar 2) It’s open late 3) The food is relatively good My only complaint is that they don’t have the foresight to post a note on their window or menu explaining what they’ve run out of. They were out of like three different things, and every person who walked up to the window wanted at least one of them. Anyway, we settled for the Al Pastor, Pollo, and Short Rib. The Al Pastor was my favorite, as it typically is. The chicken wasn’t great. And the short rib was decent. For tacos, they’re pretty pricey(check my photo of the menu), but for East Village late night food, it’s acceptable. I think it was $ 22 for 6 tacos. They also have a bunch of hot sauces on their counter to choose from, including Sriracha. So there’s that.

It looks like they attempted to rename themselves Taco Bar. I got confused for a sec when checking in. It smells good and looks good, but even with tipsy munchies, I didn’t like what I was eating. There were four in my group and we all ordered different things on the menu. Two of us knew we hated it right away and the other two had to think about it, but in the end leaned towards dislike. Everything was bland and the seasonings were way off. Maybe I was wrong for expecting something Mexican-tasting or in the whelm of something familiar to Mexican tacos. There was a crowd out front and enthusiastic drunks shouting recommendations at us. «Highly recommended!» We went for it and decided we’re not likely to go for it again. I’ll take a dollar slice instead, thank you.

I personally tried the Chicken Quesadilla. Though the tortilla was crispy and the quesadilla cheesy, like I like it, I found it to be small and underwhelming. The taste was unseasoned and tasted more like they needed to clean their grill or just get a new one. This is good if you’re wondering and stumbling from the many bars/lounges in the area and want to throw something in your stomach to soak up the liquor. Service was impersonal but food came out quick.

Came here twice in 1 night. We passed Taco Bar while looking for parking before our bar hopping adventure. I was starving & hate to go drinking on an empty stomach & who doesn’t love Mexican food?! After B. Bar closes, it turns into an after hours lounge and you can sit & eat inside, they stamp your hand so you can leave & come back. First time I got a chicken quesadilla and chicken enchiladas with green sauce. Yummy in my tummy & it wasn’t because I was starving either. We had to stop on the way back home. I got chicken tacos the second time around. I woke up dreaming about tacos because of Taco Bar.

Me: «Is there a spoon in there with my chicken tortilla soup?» Him: «Yes» I return to my office to find a utensil pack with a fork and a knife. Thanks Taco Box for forcing me to think outside the box… P. S. the carne asada taco is pretty dry, but the chorizo is not bad. The salsa is pretty good.

Really enjoyed taco box for breakfast. Much better than the authentic mexican breakfast we had a few blocks away in a hole in the wall. Wish Taco Box was open on the weekends as well. Fresh, tasty, lots of flavor, good salsa, GREAT corn tortillas. Yum.

Call it 3.5 stars eh… it’s a good random find in the taco wars. I was leaving BBar in a rush to get back to Brooklyn before I turned into a pumpkin, and needed to grab a quick bite upon exiting. Looked left, looked right… what tacos? You bet! I had the chicken and the fish. They were solid on taste but my only complaint is that for the price($ 3.50 for chicken, $ 4.50 for fish), they were a bit on the scant side. Still… good for a grab and go, and I’ll probably end up doing the same thing again the next time I exit BBar.

I was finally able to try this place out. Not bad! Note that I’m particularly harsh with Mexican food places. I like that they give aluminum and paper containers instead of plastic! I just wish they didn’t use plastic disposable cutlery or bags… The veggie food is alright, but I would recommend that they stop using yellow corn and carrot in it. Champiñón mushroom and nopal cactus are your friends! I’ll come back to keep trying other vegetarian options as well as the aguas frescas and hot chocolate which they were out of today :/

The name is so generic, I forgot I visited here! I like the street side counter concept, but wish the prices matched the idea. Regardless, the food was pretty darn good. Well dressed and sufficiently spicy condiments available. Most importantly, the horchata was LEGIT. I was so pleased it wasn’t that chalky, powder *ish some other Mexican joints in the Nolita area are trying to pass off. This is a no frills, new venture for the B Bar folks. I’ll probably be here again since it’s en route and has longer hours than my still all-time favorite Brooklyn Taco.
