The food was mediocre and way over priced for Mexican food. The guacamole was okay but had to pay $ 10 for a small side of guac and chips. I’m so used to getting free chips and salsa at Mexican restaurants. It’s just crazy that a side costs as much as a entrée dish. Got the chicken tinga and fish tacos. The tacos were pretty bland. They are definitely street taco sized. Spent $ 16 for 4 tacos. The chicken enchiladas suiza was the most infuriating. I love enchilada suiza and is usually my go to dish at Mexican places. But Ive never been to a place that doesn’t give rice and beans with their enchiladas. For $ 18 I would expect it to come with rice and beans. Really, how much does rice and beans cost? Apparently, $ 10 extra according to the menu. And the enchiladas sucked. Bland and just a drizzle of «crema». Could barely see it. Basically will never eat here. I’ve had waaay better tasting and satisfying meals in hole in the walls Mexican places in LA.

The Al Pastor tacos were delicious and decently priced, but pretty small. I could’ve easily eaten a third. The real stars were the cocktails. I got the habanero mango margarita, which was so delicious and fresh. I normally think flavored margs are too sweet/artificial tasting, but this was made with fresh mango juice and the touch of habanero was perfect. GETTHEMEZCALMOCHAFORDESSERT. Don’t ask questions. Just order it. It was ridiculously good. You need it.

The DL: pretty good, but it won’t blow your mind. I finally had a chance to visit Rosie’s after hearing a lot of great things about the place. To me, the drinks were fantastic, but the food was just okay. Some of the items we tried as a table are described further below. 1) Guacamole — Good portion; typical taste(nothing special, in other words) 2) Two salsa add on — Above average; very flavorful 3) Fish tacos — Average; The tacos were served to us at room temperature… heat lamp fail I guess; price is okay for a more up-scale Mexican place, but tacos are small-ish in size($ 8 for 2 tacos) 4) Mixed Grill for 2+(new to the menu; I forgot the real name of this dish) — Pork was okay but small; Jerky style beef was interesting and good; Chorizo was above average and tasty; Grilled fresh cheese was rubbery and super bland; Note that it’s not really enough food for two guys; Price is $ 20/person As for the interior of Rosie’s, it is super cute and modern but with an old Mexico sensibility. No complaints here. Would I return to Rosie’s? Possibly… with a bit of peer pressure, but there’s definitely better in NYC.

Wonderfully delicious! We had a 630 reservation on a Wednesday and by the time our first course came the place was packed! With good reason: it’s all so tasty. Plus, there’s an intoxicating aroma of freshly pressed corn tortillas! We started with the ceviche and the brisket tacos. The ceviche was bright and beautifully textured, with swordfish, avocado, and salsa verde. The tacos came on corn tortillas and were outstanding. The meat itself was so tender and flavorful! Then we moved to mains: we had the carne asada and the seafood rice stew. Both were SO good! The carne asada was tender and juicy, and came with a smooth guac and these spicy roasted potatoes and onions. The stew was a great ratio of rice to seafood, because it was mostly seafood. Again, great flavors and fun to eat. We had an awesome waitress, complementary sparkling water, and everything came out exactly as ordered. Would definitely return – I want to keep exploring the menu!

the waitstaff is superb and very sweet. 2 stars for food, the extra one is for staff. tacos came as two per order, but you can’t mix and match. $ 8 for two tacos… the fish tacos were prepared well and they do have different toppings than grabbing tacos from a truck. the tortillas are fresh and better than the packaged kind. however I admit I prefer my $ 2.50 tacos from my favorite taco truck. the tamale with mole was disappointing. I love mole but their version was only ok, and certainly not good enough to hide the very dry tamale and chicken. I think this was $ 6 for a small tamale. we got talked into getting the shareable meat board for 2($ 20/pp but they don’t offer a single person serving?). it was good but not worth the price. $ 30 for two makes more sense to me. it came with grilled spicy peppers, onions, scallions, green chorizo(2 small sausages), two thin small prices of the air dried beef, same size marinated chicken, two thin slices of grilled queso, sides(pico, salsa, guac and cucumber/radish), and tortillas. if you ask for enough tortilla refills, it’s worthwhile. queso fundido is melted queso with bits of green chorizo. didn’t have much flavor. also came with tortillas. flan was nothing special either. the seating is very close together if you’re not at a group table. it quickly became too loud when the guests next to us started talking + the music. I just can’t justify the price for what I got, and for losing my voice during dinner. sadly, this place was more of a miss for me, so will not be returning.

I’ve been meaning to come here for so long, so when a few friends and I decided we wanted to get mexican one night, I hopped on the suggestion train and mentioned Rosie’s, and I’m so glad we went. We had a dinner reservation that was pretty early by New York standards, but even when we arrived around 6:30(on a weeknight), it was pretty packed and only got more crowded as the night went on, but not annoyingly so. We basically ordered everything off of the menu that was vegetarian to split, plus the queso, which the waiter graciously was able to give us without the chorizo. There was nothing that I didn’t enjoy and I probably would have willingly stuffed myself to death if we decided to order more. We also got margaritas, which were equally as delicious. I ordered the watermelon margarita and it was so perfect and refreshing. Everything came out pretty quickly, too, to the point where we were running out of room on our table. The service was also very good. Overall ambiance isn’t quite cozy or romantic but I think it’s meant to feel lively and upbeat. I really enjoyed eating here, and I can’t wait to come back for more guac.

Came here recently with a large group for dinner and the amount of space they had to seat large groups definitely stood out as a bonus. Our server was very nice and accommodating! I split orders of the fish and al pastor tacos with my boyfriend for my meal. They were much smaller than I imagined they would be, if I had been at all hungry I would say two orders of tacos per person would be necessary. While I found both tacos to be good, the fish were slightly better, I’d say they weren’t anything spectacular that I would be running back here for. Overall I had a pretty good experience here. This place is great for large groups however, the food is just about average.

Disappointing– Cute space, decent cocktails. Service was good, warm and friendly. Food lacks flavor though and is served semi warm(you know when you can tell the dish just isn’t heated all the way through). The guac and chips were tasty, but that is about it. I had high hopes for this little East Village spot. The search for Mexican in Manhattan continues.

Good all around classy Mexi joint. Armosphere was dimly lit large open dining area and tiny bar serving up some hot apps and drinks and some entrees. Scene was hot, music was sexy, people were perfectly bougie. Food: Quesedillas good Guac rockin Chicken enchiladas on point! Plaintains– wow. I dont even like plaintains and I was gobbling these up like a fat kid eats cake. Oh wait. Nopales apps– good, but perhaps not the hype I had been hearing about. Service: slow and relaxed with a smile Drinks(margaritas): excellent Price: overall, very reasonably priced! Many apps in the 8 – 10 $ range and drinks in 10 – 13 $ range.

Came here with a group for brunch. Got the guac and chips to share– Best idea ever and probably the only thing you should get here. The guac was not salty like most guac– it was pretty good! We shared some fish tacos– completely flavorless– do not get this. It was super bland and about $ 4 a taco. It was kind of shocking how I didn’t even taste salt in this taco. For my entrée I got the sandwich(~$ 15) — I’m not really sure what was in this– looked like some green meaty paste with melted cheese and egg. The taste was different– not that I disliked it but I wasn’t particularly fond of it. My friend got the popular dish recommended by the waitress– some poached eggs in a bean soup. The soup looked really gross because it was all black but my friend said it was decent… not sure if he just wanted to make himself feel better tho. It did not look appealing whatsoever. Service is friendly but the food just couldn’t do it for me. Hefty prices as well. Impressive décor and ambiance but I didn’t really enjoy my food so I won’t be back unless I really want guac and chips.

Cute brunch place on the corner of East 2nd and 2nd avenue. Came here yesterday for brunch on an unusually warm December day — got the luxury to sit outside and enjoy some mimosas(and coffee). We got some complementary churros with chocolate sauce which was delicious but wished it was given at the end of the meal instead of the beginning. We ordered the guacamole and chips which were delicious. I ordered the pescado tacos for my main dish and my friend ordered the french toast. The tacos came in two and it was satisfying. The french toast tasted like a sweet pound cake rather than the traditional french toast. It was slather with some sweet creamy sauce on top. Our server was extremely friendly and attentive. Place is also great for groups.

Rosie’s is a fun place for a summer date night. The food is rather expensive, but it’s pretty tasty, and the service is great! We really had a nice evening here, and there’s so much around, that the inevitable wait you will encounter to score a table can be well spent at one of many watering holes nearby. The restaurant itself has a great ambiance. It’s sizable, open, and full of activity, both when I went and every time I’ve walked passed since. We had a really great server who was very knowledgable about the entire menu, including the recipe’s origins in Mexico and how the chef came to include them on the menu. At times, a bit more information than we needed to hear, but interesting and impressive nonetheless! The food tasted incredible, but the portions left me a bit unsatisfied(especially for the price). We had a crab dish, a plate of tacos, chips and guac, and an amazing flan dessert. Overall, Rosie’s is worth a shot, but I’m not in a huge rush to return.

I love Rosies! Been here twice already within two weeks. We’ve stumbled upon Rosie’s on a random Friday night. They take reservations but we didn’t need one so we were able to get seated in the centre Island where they make fresh tortillas. I ordered a Cilantro margarita which was just remarkable. The watermelon margarita is also a big hit with several customers! I definitely had to try it and it certainly did not disappoint. When the waitress asked you if you would like guacamole, just say yes!!! The seafood tostada is awesome. The quesadilla is delicious. My husband ordered the steak medium rare which comes with fresh tortillas in a basket. I ordered the al pastor tacos and the fish tacos. Very well done. We’ve been transported to Mexico without having to travel.

Something about my British friends who visit seem to either be fascinated with BBQ and Mexican cuisine when they visit. On this visit it was all about Mexican food. Rosie’s seemed like a fitting place. Classy but casual and slightly upscale away from the tourist mecca they seem to love hanging around. We secured a nice table along the window on a warm autumn’s day. The bright but loud place had a great vibe already. We were excited to try the food. The airy eatery with simple décor. Our server was helpful and friendly. We started with a pitcher of margarita. Since most of the stuff were made for sharing… ie small plates, big bill and our friends who must have walked all of Central Park was ready and hungry. The drinks wasn’t sugary sweet but I think needed a bit more alcohol. One can’t drink margaritas without Guacamole & chips right? They were lightly fried, not too oily with a hint of salt. The enchiladas felt lighter than the usual smothered in cheese. The tamal with chicken impressed my friends who never had it before enough to order another. The taco’s were outstanding made to order literally by authentic Mexicans guys, okay maybe Central Americans in the middle of the restaurant. The hungry Britons wanted a second order of tacos. So enthusiastic were my friends they decided to order another pitcher of margarita. Let’s say by the end of it, the bill was near the moon. Lesson learned here. Make sure your out of town friends didn’t walk 25 miles before eating and if they did make sure they eat something before coming to Rosie’s because I probably paid for her pool or at least 1⁄3rd of it.

I wasn’t blown away. why wasn’t I blown away? I finally made it out here after a friend’s constant recommendation to try this spot out. The ambience itself is very intimate and romantic. yet inviting for everyone whether a date, a date with your mistress, or an intimate group of friends this place will impress you. Food though probably will not, unless you’re into bland meals. Started out with a chips, guacamole and a cheese dip. The cheese was good. everything else fell flat. I ordered the shrimp dish. and apparently I’m paying $ 26 for fried shrimp completely still in the shell. Why am I working to eat?!. Someone at the table got quesidellas and it look more like small tapas plate. poor guy was eating everyone else’s food to even get remotely full. Cocktails were.unique.a spicy Mango rum type of drink. that made me chase it down with water because my palate didn’t understand the flavor. This place tries a little too hard to try to impress. focus is more on the ambience than the actual menu. which needs to be revamped. seriously shelled shrimp guys? Cmon!

I had wanted to go here in the summer cause I really like how open the main dining area is, but I didn’t make it here till fall. I also was not seated in an area where it was so open, I was close to the hostess stand, but since it was a cool fall afternoon I didn’t mind. I came for brunch with family. My cousin just moved to the East Village so we were looking for somewhere in his hood, and I thought, finally, he’s my opporunity to go! Our reservation was for 12:30 and it was pretty crowded, but we were seated right away. There were lots of egg dishes, tacos and some other things on the brunch menu. They also had a good variety of drinks on the back of the menu. I ordered a cinnamon margarita. tis the season, and it was really good. The glass was rimmed with sugar/spices and not salt. We also put in an order of guacamole for the table right away. The gaucamole was good! Not a huge portion, but it was really fresh and had radishes on top, and they were quick to refill the chip basket. For my main dish I got the chilaquiles. It was soo good! The portion was pretty big, and I couldn’t even finish it. The sunny side eggs were cooked perfectly with a nice runny yoke, after being poked ;) and it was very cheesy, which is always a good thing! Overall service was pretty good, and everything I ate was good! My cousin ordered tacos which were pretty tiny. He got 4, but it looked like he could of had more. Maybe order a side along with the tacos too. I would definitely come back again, and I look forward to coming back next year when it’s warm and I can sit by the open doors/windows.

I came here for lunch with my boyfriend and our friend during the week. It was delicious! It’s great to come in the warmer months due to the open doors/outdoor seating. It’s very cute inside as well with lights hanging on the ceiling nicely. I would recommend this spot for friends, 1 friend, a date — really whoever you are with, this place works. RESTAURANTOVERVIEW: –Open and airy — either the glass doors will all be open, or they will be closed(if it is cold) but you are still surrounded by glass which makes for a good scenery. –Cute white chairs, wooden square tables, nice/modern looking lights hanging on the ceiling –Great for all types of groups APP: –Guac & Chips: Solid app. Very good! FOOD: –Al Pastor Tacos: LOVED. These were great and had so much flavor in them. I would get this again. The pineapple was a pleasant surprise. –Corn with spices: I had to scrape off a lot of the spices — it was very messy! Good though with a lot of the spices scraped off –My boyfriend got a dish with an egg on it(see pic) I don’t remember the name of it, but he said it was good! –Our friend got one of the sandwiches — totally not sure which one(see pic as well) — also said it was really good SERVICE: Great! No complaints

Came here with my roommate last night and we had an awesome time! The place is really trendy and cool and a really fun environment. Ambiance definitely killed it. The margaritas were AMAZING. By far the best margarita I’ve had in the city. I got the mango habanero and the mango was so delicious yet not too sweet and it was really spicy!(I asked for it like that). Normally the spicy margaritas I’ve had at other places are never actually spicy so this was really especially great Food: Queso fundido — amazing!!! Must get this. Its queso in a bowl with onions and peppers and was so good. It came with some corn tortillas which was a bit confusing to me(are you supposed to make mini quesadillas?) but either way it was soo amazing Molote — this is like a little croquette with potato and cheese and was crispy with some fresh citrusy cabbage on the side which made it a very tasty and balanced bite Guacamole — soooooo good!!! The guac was super creamy and fluffy not sure ive ever tasted guac like it it was amaazingg. Plus it had a spicy kick which was great Overall, great spot to come with friends, family or on a date

Love it! Been here about three times in 2 weeks. Snag a spot outside and let the passers by see you try to gracefully eat corn on the cob without getting anything stuck in your teeth! We got the guacamole and chips, the pastor(pork) and fish tacos which were both delicious! Definitely recommend both those tacos! Of course, the corn was great, albeit a little messy! Can’t wait to try the rest of the menu :)

Go to Rosie’s for their outstanding margaritas! The mango margarita was truly memorable but the classic and the watermelon were just as good. And the bartenders are friendly and generous with the alcohol — 2 margaritas and you will be very good for the evening! And then stay for some food, as at this point you will now be feeling quite excellent. Their guacamole is fantastic, so I’m glad we got the large! The carne asada entrée was good too. Less delicious were the side of plantains which were not up to par — sweet plantains should be… well, sweet! These had little flavor and were too hard instead of the typical soft/melt in your mouth consistency I’m used to. Also, the side of black beans was too soupy!
