The Taco truck on The Upper West side has a good selection of Mexican dishes from the Estate of Puebla. This Truck is fully equipped to create great Mexican dishes called«Super Tacos». Tacos here are OK but I think The dish that you must have is CEMITA a Torta(Sandwich) style is a Sesame Roll with Avocado, cheese, beans, hot peppers and meat of your choice, you should try with Chorizo. This dish can be a little spicy. One of my favorite services from this place is that they offer«Plato del Dia», every day they will offer an authentic different dish. You should try Pipian(Tuesday) Mole Poblano(Friday) and if you are a little hangover from Saturdays party, order on(Sunday) Caldo de Res! Beef stew with corn. It will make you feel better, trust me. They have a couple of Vegetarian dishes and good selection of Mexican sodas. No Website available but you can find them after 6pm at the corner of Broadway and 96th st. they have free delivery and open late. Tel 917−500−4844 and 917−837−0866 Visit my Mexican Food blog here:

This taco truck is usually parked off 96th and Broadway right in front of Gristede’s. There are usually only two people in the truck, one cooking and the other taking orders. The people are nice, however sometimes there is a bit of a language barrier if your order isn’t straightforward/you are making special requests on your order. The truck has a long metal counter that a few people can eat at, but that’s about it. So if you don’t get a space on the counter, then you’re left holding your food as there is no where to really sit near the area; unless you can find a seat on the benches in front of the 96th street station. The tacos are probably the most authentic that I’ve had in the UWS. Definitely a good choice to make a stop at before or after a night out.

You get off the 1, 2, or 3 train at 96st late at night and look for something to eat. You don’t want to eat McDonald’s, but lucky you! You see a taco truck parked on the SW corner of 96st on Broadway. At only $ 3 per taco, who can go wrong? The meat is fresh and everything is made to order. They have many choices ranging from beef, goat, pork skin, and many more! Two things that’s a «must have» here is the cecina taco, and torta with chorizo. When you order the torta, ask the friendly workers, «puedes planchar la pan,» which roughly translates to «can you flatten the bread.» Once you say that, they will place the bread on the griddle to press, and toast the bread to give it a different taste! Oh, and did I mention this taco truck DELIVERS? Yes! They deliver!

I judge all taquerias by their al pastor. Because it’s so specific. It’s meant to be a certain way. It’a supposed to have charred, crispy, burnt ends from the rotisserie flame, an intense but overpowering seasoning, just a hint of sweetness from pineapple that’s mounted on top of the spinning rotisserie. So when somewhere fucks up their al pastor, you know they took shortcuts, they assumed the customer wouldn’t notice, and they don’t care about authenticity. The al pastor tacos here are a 1/5, soupy shredded pork, over seasoned, seemed like it was potted in a slow cooker and they actually put huge chunks of pineapple in with the meat. They get a big WTF? For doing this to the al pastor. Honestly, don’t even serve al pastor if you are gonna murder it like that. Carnitas was made using similar shortcuts. Carnitas is also meant to be a little crispy, but it seemed like it came out of a pot slow cooker. They could have made the pastor or the carnitas better just by throwing it on the grill for like 1 minute. I guess NYC doesn’t have discriminating taste in Mexican food enough to warrant that level of effort. I would still manage my expectations and go back to this place, just because it’s so hard to find taquerias and decent Mexican food carts on the UWS.

al pastor taco chicken flauta so far the most decent mexican food consumed in new york. non-hipster, non-fusion not the usual junk slathered in cheese and sour cream with ground beef wrapped in a tortilla. prices are really steep for truck food.

Hands down, the best authentic Mexican tacos I’ve had outside of Puerto Vallarta! This is a great stop on the way home from an all nighter– be it work or a party

I never get tired of Super Tacos! The service is great, the food is fresh and fast and it always hits the spot, especially after a late night out. The tacos de cesina are out of this world, as are the mole tamales. Best fast food in the area for sure.

I have literally grown up on these tacos. Living on the upper west side for 19 years it has been a staple go to meal in my family. A lady who works in the truck has known us & always greets us with a smile! From $ 2 a taco with lettuce and tomato, and it’s brief appearances on 97th& Amsterdam. The quality has gone down since(different owners) and prices are now $ 3 but I still go and here’s why: I have had every single taco on the menu and burrito from here, my go to being my favorite beef tongue and chicken. The burrito is huge, I’m weirdly a chipotle burrito kind of person so it was pretty standard, no wow factor. Late lunches, late night cravings, sobering up food … These tacos have been there for me! Try the chicken, goat and if you’re adventurous the tongue.

After getting bones in my chicken tacos twice, I’m done with this truck. Coming from California, I miss good Mexican food, and was happy to find a this close to home, but the food has been a disappointment. I’d consider going to the 24hr McDonalds over Super Tacos.

The best tacos & Mexican food you can eat and enjoy on the Upper West Side. The people are nice and the food is amazing. Freshly made in front of you and reasonable prices. There’s so much to tell but you must try it out in person. !!!

If you’re ever around the Upper West Side craving a taco, this is the spot! What is even better is that they operate late night every day! For less than $ 10, you can a wide variety of Mexican food items, from tacos to tortas, with your choice of different meats. I personally like the Lengua(beef tongue), although you can go for al Pastor, Carnita, Cecina(Salted Beef), or Bistec as other good options. Fast service, and delicious food! 4 outta 5!

Super Tacos is practically an UWS institution. It’s the place other Mexican restaurant staff members go to after closing time and the only taco truck I know of that: 1. been around for over a decade; 2. serves up a good taco; 3. has daily specials; 4. has a small army of its own delivery bikes. What more can you ask for? Especially for the UWS.

Went to buy take out and was charged more than the price in the take out menu. Was told that the prices had changed and that new menus would be printed once they ran out. The pork is still horrible and when I eat traditional Mexican I usually go for the pork– in this case it was mostly cartilage which leads me to believe they are still using pig ears. The quality has gone down hill a bit. I suspect it is because they have gotten incredibly busy. A real disappointment considering there are no real Mexican alternatives within delivery distance.

Took me 15 years to find out about this place, but now that I have I’m definitely making up for lost time. This truck/restaurant parks in front of the Gristede’s on 96th off B’way and is open from about 6PM until… well, really late each night. Their tacos are the authentic Mexican style ones that consist of griddle cooked bunches of shredded seasoned meat served in a doubled soft corn tortilla also griddle heated with some chopped onion and cilantro on the meat. Of the tacos, my favorites are the carnitas, carne enchilada and chorizo ones. The gorditas are good too. These aren’t like the Taco Bell gorditas. They’re like sandwiches of shredded meat on a wonderful thin cornbread-like stuff cooked on the griddle like a grilled sandwich. They have wonderful looking daily specials and Mexican sandwiches called«tortas» too. I really want to try their mole(that’s «MOELAY», not the ground burrowing rodent, «mole») and pozole. Also the horchata drink they make there looks tempting. They’re cheap, too; $ 2 Tacos, $ 5 tortas, $ 7 daily specials… They also have bins of sauces, peppers, radishes, limes and other stuff with which to garnish your food sitting on their counter. Watch out though, the green sauce and the peppers pack a punch you”ll be feeling the next day if you’re not careful!
