Love sunrise mart! This is my go to drugstore if I need to refill my Asian personal hygiene products — Japanese shampoo+conditioner, Japanese body wash, Japanese drug store skin care, hair dye, and very importantly, Japanese sanitary pads(girls once you tried the Asian 40 cm long night pad you will never go back to the US pads!!)! Prices for these personal hygiene products are cheapest here, even lower than Amazon(both thumbs up) and they always have a good range to choose from. They also have a good range of Japanese snacks and beverages with very reasonable price! Ever since I discover here I found my trip to CVS become less and less frequent!

Small store packed with lots of goodies. Great place to pick up Japanese lunch to go. Definitely will go again.

Two words: steak fries! Mmmm mmmm. Seriously some of the best fries in soho. They’re usually nowhere to be found, but don’t fret, just ask the guy at the noodle station and he’s usually 2 minutes out from bringing up a new batch from downstairs. Along some chili mayo? Yes please. This place also stocks my favorite Hawaiian Sun canned juices!

Great little Japanese market in Soho! I stop in sometimes during the week to grab lunch. Fresh selection of ready-made to-go food, but I especially like their noodles and rice meals counter in the back. Also stocks a good selection of snack foods, pantry items, frozen food, and fresh produce.

I use this Sunrise Mart more frequently as a rest stop during long stretches of shopping in SoHo(as opposed to the one on Stuyvesant St., which I use for groceries). It’s a great place to rehydrate and sit down with a hot snack. They have a wide selection of drinks, including Mash, Calpico, and Ramune, and ready-to-eat boxes of sushi, yakisoba, and katsu. Also key to this rest stop experience: Tables + bathroom. Pro tip: Arguably, I believe this shop has the –best– fries in the area. That’s right. Reasons: — Nice peppery seasoning — Fried in lard, like a fry should be — Comes with a spicy aioli dip Who knew that the Japanese would make superior fries?

Ever been stuck in the middle of SoHo longing for cheap asian food? Never fear, Sunrise Mart to the rescue! They’ve got ramens in the back(3 stars for the ramen) for $ 9. They also have curry for $ 8. I got the 9-piece sashimi box for $ 12(4 stars). It was pricey for the sashimi, but it was super-fresh and delicious. Also, while you’re there, get some of the asian snacks you’ve been meaning to get, like a giant box of japanese milk caramels. Yum. Great affordable asian oasis in the middle of SoHo.

Great shop for Japanese goodies in a convenient location. I’ve bought everything from rice to sushi-grade fish to snacks here. Right near the door is their rice section. They have akitakomachi rice from Akita Prefecture here for just $ 25 for 5 kg, which is a great price for Japanese-grown rice which is especially rare in the US, even in NYC. They also have Niigata koshihikari at a significantly more expensive price. Of course, they have the standard California fare like Tamanishiki, Kagayaki, and Tamaki. In the middle is a bunch of snacks, and towards the right are aisles of condiments. The very right is a refrigerated section with produce, meat, and seafood, with frozen food at the back right. As for the sushi fish, they have salmon, tuna, hamachi, masago, ikura, and even uni. The back left is a hot food section which sells bento boxes. Things rarely go on sale(and most of the sale items tend to be snacks), but prices are fairly reasonable. You can get better deals at Mitsuwa or Chinese supermarkets. The problem with Mitsuwa is that it’s so far away, and Chinese supermarkets don’t have all the Japanese stuff you’d want, so this is a good store to have around.

I’ve stopped by here many times for a quick cheap lunch. There is a reason the lunches are cheap– very low quality ingredients. Especially the salmon items. The past 3 times I’ve been here I’ve experienced a bad stomach ache afterwards. I was excited when I initially found this place because it does indeed seem like an amazing affordable oasis in an expensive food desert, but due to their use of low quality food I will not return and risk another afternoon being sick at work. I throw on another star because their staff is very nice and they have many many Japanese specialty products. My advice though is to maybe walk across the street to gourmet garage and pay the extra money for some quality food.

Great Japanese market if you’re in SoHo and looking for an affordable, fast unique bite to eat. They carry everything from groceries to appliances. There’s also multiple seating areas if you want to eat in. Can get crowded during the lunch rush so the lines snake around the aisles for both the counter in the back and the 4 registers up front. Make sure you’re in the right line. Lots of great selection for fast lunch options — great rice boxes, excellent selection of sushi, yummy fries in a cup, and also soups to go. Their ramen is pretty good — not the best but far better than those bodega noodle soups.

This place is a stellar japanese supermarket. This place is really great to go to if you’re walking around soho and looking for something cheap and unique for lunch and don’t want to walk far or go to a more time-consuming sit-down place. You can get good soup, rice bowls, curry and surprisingly fresh dirt-cheap sushi. Also it’s easy to pick up a unique item or two while you’re there. Also be prepared for a line during lunch-hour. The soho location definitely beats the East Village one given it’s ample seating and freshly prepared food in the back. Highly recommend.

I work near by and whenever weather permitting I will eat here. Everyday I get an hour brake and I chose to use 15 minutes to walk here and anither 15 minutes to walk back just to have my little slice of heaven. They have great salads. I love their salmon salad, it’s delicious and filling. After you eat you can shop inside the store for groceries to snacks to body care products. Most of the items they sell are imported from Japan. And Evey week they have special sale on certain itmes. It’s just so convenient to eat here and shop here. They will always have special sales on natto. Natto is one of my favorite food but most grocery stores will over price it, but not here. They have things like takoyaki flour, curry blocks, fresh veggies, meat, fish, frozen goods, Benton boxes, benton accessories, the list goes on and on. And they also prepare hot foods. Udon, ramen noodle, and other rice dishes made to order. And they also sell benton lunch sets. I can just go on days talking about how great this place is.

This is an awesome place in midtown. it not only offers ordinary japanese food, but also has a little shop at the rear corner. To be honest, I am not a big fan of the japanese food it offers here because they don’t taste that good. Also the $ 10 minimum for swiping credit card is too annoying. I just come here if I am in a hurry for lunch, or just buy some raw food or snacks.

Yes. Five stars for being my go-to place based on the following: — fresh inexpensive sashimi — high quality shabu ingredients, like sliced wagyu beef — assortment of asian mushrooms, and other produce — Japanese snacks — authentic green tea matcha — very reasonable prices — being close to the subway stations most convenient to me — not being in Jersey Thank you, Sunrise Mart for existing.

I love this place! The first time I went there, I didn’t even know they sold food to go. As soon as I stepped in, the smell of food filled the air and I just followed the smell to the back where they make soups, rice dishes and the best fries you could possibly eat! If you get the fries, make sure you get the dipping sauce — my favorite is the wasabi mayo.

This little lunchtime spot is awesome! They have everything including Ramen, Soba, sushi, salads, Japanese specialities and more. Bonus: they sell Mochi! $ 10 minimum credit card is annoying but not a big deal.

Lovely Japanese market. I love it. I’ve always been so jealous of the Pacific Northwest where they have Uwajimaya, and while Sunrise is not quite that scale, it does get you a lot of what you need. I am from Hawaii and I miss seeing what would be regular ingredients on the shelves in Hawaii on shelves in my local D’Ag or Whole Foods. Sunrise Mart is a once stop shop I can get my arare, furikake, hawaiian sun drinks, nori, rice, golden curry, hokkaido milk buns, yam snacks, pocari sweat, delicious ramen, silken tofu, etc… I am just so impressed. Yes there are larger Japanese markets, but for the convenience they have exactly what one need. And they keep it just the right amount of clean. And the people that work there are super sweet. Thank you Sunrise Mart!

Nothing much to buy here. But the chicken curry bento is worth trying($ 8+) I remember there is a Japanese supermarket at east village which is larger.

Oh Sunrise, you have stuck around since Jasmart closed. You are more convenient than Mitsuwa, even though your selection isn’t that huge, it’s enough for me. I don’t eat too much. I was fooled to assume Mitsuwa had better prices than you but after I did a comparison of my purchases for the same items, you were roughly 10 — 20 cents cheaper.(in reference to my green tea bottled drinks.) I am amazed at how much you can hold even though you are a small shop. You are dear to me, Sunrise. You have a better selection of facial masks than Mitsuwa. Thank you for being my comfort when I need you. Some day I’ll go to Japan for real but for now, you’re the closest thing.

Sunrise Mart doesn’t look like much from the outside — you might think(especially with such a generic name) that it’s a run of the mill bodega. Until you step inside, in to a world of Japanese delights. There’s pretty much every ingredient you need to make your favorite dishes, all of those wonderful snacks you got addicted to in Japan and can’t find anywhere else and all of the Pocari Sweat you can handle. Prices looked to be very competitive. What makes Sunrise Mart extra-special is the tiny lunch counter in the back where you can get noodle dishes, sushi and more at very reasonable prices. There are a few tables at the front of store to enjoy a quick, cheap lunch. This is also a great spot to pop in and grab a drink(Japanese bottled tea FTW) as it’s much cheaper than a café or coffee shop.

JAPANESEGROCERYMART but you could also make it your quick lunch stop, your snack stop, your café studying spot?.. ok not likely the last one but i was desperate & there was nothing else in the area! Why is it all of the above? They literally have PRODUCE, a huge beverage fridge, tons of asian snacks & candy, alcohol, HOT food & cold meals to take on the go there are a few tables PLUS a microwave towards the front of the store where you can enjoy the items just purchased! Cheaper than other cafes around if you are parched & just need some hydration before you continue shopping in SoHo
