Portion vs. price… you can’t ask for more, honestly. The classic sandwich was delicious but I’d recommend eating it before the bread gets soggy as that meat is juicy and the cheese I’m sure can get greasy. For a few bucks out of your pocket, this place is A-OK. For an unhealthy, salty splurge — hit this place up. The staff could be kinder seeing as their not the busiest on the block but I’m sure it’s tough given the douchebaggary in the Midtown area. It’s worth it.

46th&6th has a plethora of food trucks that come through on various days. Although I do find the trucks at 47th& park to be the crème de la crème. This truck was there on a Tuesday, so figured what the hay. After all cheesesteak is the greatest thing ever to come out of philly, and by great I mean only. Yes they held the continental congress there and they have the liberty bell, blah blah blah. I mean c’mon, they broke the liberty bell, the Eagles quaterback kills puppies, and Philadelphians hate Santa Claus. But I digress. Steaks and Crepes is a small truck that doesn’t stick out much, but what it lacks in pinaz it modestly gains in quality. I went with the classic cheesesteak with white American. However after seeing one with cheese whiz, which contained a healthy amount of that glorious pureed cheese, I immediately regretted my decision. But I stuck it out. The meat was pretty good although not as greasy as other reviewers have stated; much to my chagrin. And cheese was certainly not abound, which really took away from the experience that is a Philly cheesesteak. This was not the brotherly love I had hoped for. I wanted grease dribbling down my face, and a pile of ozzing cheese on the wrapper. I may have to look else where for that.

Giving this vendor 2 stars because the sandwich wasn’t awful but it wasn’t exactly the best tasting either. It was an edible steak sandwich of substantial size. The bread was soft, the onions were a bit pungent and the steak itself was seasoned but may have had too much variations of seasoning for a cheese steak. This is not halal chicken and rice dude. Keep it to salt. and. pepper. please! The ultimate negative was when the operator attempted to wrap my sandwich with the same gloved hands he accepted everyones cash with. Wait! Whooole on! Ain’t nobody got time for that! Umm sir can you change your gloves before wrapping my sandwich… He kindly agreed. Could have been a careless error but lets not make errors at the expense of my belly. Trying to give me George Washington germs. Ewww

Went with the crew for lunch came across the Steak and Crêpe truck. I ordered a combo, Cheese steak and cheese whizz with onions and peppers, order of fries and a soda for 10 bucks. For 10 bucks I got an oversized, way over salty(so much salt II took one bite and tossed it out), greasy cheese steak, and some skinny dried up fries which left me saying gee wizz why did I waste my money. The can of ginger ale was good.

3.5 stars This truck has been parking right outside my office once a week lately. I’m a Philly-area girl who loves her cheesesteaks so when I was wandering aimlessly around looking for a yummy Friday lunch(on Fridays I don’t have to be healthy — it’s a rule) and saw that Steaks N Crepes uses Amoroso’s rolls, I was sold. The $ 10 Combo — cheesesteak, fries & water or soda — was a great deal, especially for the size of the cheesesteak(they’re huge!) There was no line and I only waited maybe a minute for my food. The steak was pretty darn good for NYC. I got sharp provolone wit’(wit’ = with onions, n00bs). Amoroso’s roll was perfect as always. The meat was very greasy in a good way, and they really heaped on the onions. I happen to like it very oniony, but they could probably tone down the onions and add more cheese. I couldn’t taste provolone at all to the point that I looked for it and wondered if they heard my order correctly. Still it was a great steak. I’d def have again but ask for extra cheese. Also maybe I just missed it on the menu but I usually like to add banana peppers which I didn’t see available, but that would be a plus. Fries were like McDonald’s fries, crispy and salty, but I was too full to eat more than a few.

Saw this food thruck parked outside of Hale & Hearty on Hudson. All my usual lunch places weren’t doing it for me, so I decided maybe something different would hit the spot. I got a regular philly cheese steak with american cheese, onions and peppers. The cheese steak was heavy on the onions and peppers and the meat was okay in flavor, this is my first time having a somewhat authentic Philly Cheese Steak, so im not sure what I should be, or should not be tasting. I do feel the«cheesesteak» could have benefitted from more cheese because there was barely any cheese at all. The few hints of cheese that i did taste made the sandwich that much better. So much I was tempted to go out, buy two slices from the deli, microwave the sandwich, and enjoy the party, but hey my lunch break was pretty much over, and im sure the bread would have not survived and it was actually very good bread. The guy in the truck was very patient and extremely friendly while I went back and forth on whether I wanted fries or not. I mean for the steak and the fries it was $ 10 vs $ 9 for the sandwich alone. In the end, I settled on just the steak. The sandwich is huge. I only ended up eating half. And the burp after tasted decent enough. If I ever see the truck again I probably would order again and ask for extra cheese, or maybe even try the whiz. I’m glad I did support them, I found out afterwards they provided free meals for Sandy victims, which will definitely make me a repeat customer

I really enjoyed the cheesesteak I had today for lunch from this cart. $ 10 got me a cheesesteak with american cheese and onions, fries, and a soda. It’s a pretty good price considering other trucks charge almost $ 10 for just a cheesesteak. They do the standard cheesesteak with a choice of provolone, whiz, or american and with our without onions, and also have a mushroom steak, pizza steak, everything steak, and a falafel hoagie for vegetarians. The cheesesteak was a nice size and definitely filled me up. It had a lot of grilled onions which i loved but was kinda light on the cheese. After i ordered i saw them make a cheesesteak with whiz and they really globbed it on. I think i’m gonna go with that next time. The meat was pretty greasy, which is perfect for a cheesesteak, and the bread did a great job of soaking it up. They wrapped the hero up nicely so that there wasn’t grease all over the outside of the bread. The fries were not the best. They have potential but were way undercooked. They were also salty, which i love, but others may not. I appreciate that they leave ketchup packets outside the truck so that you can take as many as you like. There have been a bunch of new cheesesteak spots opening in the city, and this is a welcomed addition.

Going to 47th and Park to choose a food truck for lunch today, I saw this truck/cart. Mausam was in the area so vindaloo was my first thought, but seeing a steak/fries/soda combo for $ 10 meant I had to try this. Shorty’s, which is regularly in Midtown Manhattan, is good but very pricey; Phil’s has a reasonably-priced small-sized cheesesteak but I don’t see them in Midtown all that much. If this newcomer to the truck food scene is as good as the other two cheesesteak trucks, it would definitely be the best-priced. I ordered a cheesesteak with American cheese, fries, and a soda. The«authentic» way to have a Philly cheesesteak is with cheese whiz, but I wasn’t feeling ready for the ‘Whiz today. I’m not disappointed at all. The cheesesteak was really good — not as «cheesy» as the other two players, but still a good balance of cheese and meat. The portion size is much larger than Phil’s and Shorty’s also: after finished with the sandwich, I had no desire to attack the fries. I guess that’s all for the better; the fries, to me, tasted a little off. I noticed they were coated — maybe the coating gives them an odd flavor? Nonetheless, this new truck offers a fantastic deal on a very good cheesesteak. If they end up frequenting the Midtown area I will definitely be a regular customer.
