I love how much food this place gives you. The prices are reasonable when you consider the large portions. The food is delicious! The empanadas are amazing, especially the guava one. I’ve had the pernil with rice, beans, and maduros and it was definitely flavorful.

Been to different Sophie’s a few times and I always get the baked chicken. It’s juicy and well seasoned, but you definitely need the green sauce for the extra kick of flavor. Overall it’s a good meal and they’re consistent with the quality of food. The yellow rice, potatoes and the steamed veggies were just standard. Nothing to write home about. Would definitely return if I’m in the area. The cashier wasn’t the nicest, a bit impatient when it wasn’t even busy but it’s not a deal breaker. Always ask for extra green sauce! The container they give you is way too small.

I stopped by Sophie’s Cuban Cuisine for a quick lunch. The restaurant was packed, but I found a table and was served in less than five minutes. I ordered the Cubano sub, yuca, and an assortment of Empanadas(I highly recommend the guava and cheese!). Everything was fresh and terrific. The staff was very friendly as well. I highly recommend!

This place was HOPPING!!! And now I know why. It’s flippin outstanding food. I don’t get Cuban food back home, so this was a real treat. The to-go line was constantly full the whole time we were eating at our table. They must push a lot of people through this place everyday. I enjoyed the various bean and rice side options. I like when there are choices! The food was fantastic, I wish I could have more of it… Ample portion size, as well. A winner!

Home away from type of feel with amazing food. If you want to feel like you’re in a traditional Hispanic restaurant come to this place.

Good food and large portions. I got the baked chicken and brother got a Cuban sandwich. I did however have to take a nap after eating, not sure if they use MSG I’d be interested in knowing this.

Sophie’s, a great place to get lunch if you work in the Financial District. I love their salmon and meat options. Please try their yellow rice with the green sauce. For desert, if I’m still hungry, I will get an empanada. The guava and cheese empanada is something else. Please try, they dont disappoint.

Good Cuban food! I come here during my lunch break pretty frequently. If you want a food coma, this is the place to go. It gets crowded during lunch 12−2pm, but you dont have to wait long for a table. The décor is a little dark… if they added brighter lights it would be better. The food is great. I almost always get the turkey platter with rice and beans and a side of veggies. And another side order of sweet plantains. All good. I tried the oxtail platter once. Tasty, but not a whole lot of meat. Also try the cuban sandwich with sweet plantains is also good. Emapanadas are super fried. So if you are hungover, this is the greasy food that might save your sick-liver’s life. Put that green sauce on everythannnnnng.

A co-worker recommended this place to me for good, cheap Latin American cuisine. As someone with an addiction to empanadas, enchiladas, and rice & beans… I was quick to try it out. There’s nothing particularly outstanding about this simple, basic little shop, but it has all the staples and at a very affordable price. The portions are huge and the food is hearty. I had a «side» of rice & beans(it was huge though, so I don’t think«side» is the right word for it), and also a beef empanada. Both were quite good and filled my belly without taking a chunk from my wallet. This is a nice lunch spot in the FiDi area. I plan to go back again and try out more options from the menu.

The food is great, bar none! The service(especially delivery) is horrible! The delivery guy who delivered to me today was rude and hung up on me mid-sentence when I tried to correct the Suite where the food should be delivered in my building(after a typo where I added an extra digit). How can you be rude to someone who is tipping you for a service? He didn’t even deserve the $ 1.50 I paid for it to be brought into the building Sophie’s is located behind. Unbelievable.

Don’t be intimidated by the hectic atmosphere when you come for lunch, the staff will take care of you and answer all your questions nicely. We came for lunch and after seeing the huge plates that were presented to others, we decided to share a lunch special plate and two empanadas. That’s already way more than enough food for us. The chicken and beef empanadas came out first while hot and crispy. Flavor was good, filling was plentiful, green sauce is not bad so you can fill up on just the empanadas alone. But then out lunch special chicken plate came with the roasted chicken, plantains, and rice. Add a little green sauce for flavor, if you wish. There is already a lot of flavor in the food so you can’t go wrong with the lunch special, especially at 10 bucks. Share the lunch with someone and you won’t go back to work feeling bloated and lazy. Worth the visit for plentiful food portions and decent prices.

As I continued to go to Sofie’s it seems as if they are giving you less and less meat with your order. It is ridiculous to think you are charged 13.00 for rice beans and 2 small pieces of meat. Last time I eat there.

This place is a gem in the heart of Wall Street. Came here a couple times during my stay in NYC and I was impressed both times with the food quality. The place is always busy especially during lunch hour so you can tell it’s a popular spot. Only reason I don’t give it a 5 is because they run out of things like rice and beans during those rush hours but other than that it’s a must visit in NYC

Just like every other Sophie’s, a great place for a hot and satisfying weekday lunch. Just like every other Sophie’s, the line moves nice and fast even during peak hours. Just like every other Sophie’s, just a smidgen expensive, but huge portions so you can stretch one meal into two. Just like every other Sophie’s, it’s pretty cruddy to eat inside; there are some tables, but really do yourself a favor and eat it outside, especially in such a naturally nice environment as the Financial District(note: mostly during summer.) Overall, just like every other Sophie’s, which is to say pretty nice!

My friend took me here for lunch and it was packed, so we took our order to go. I got the pork, orange rice, and sweet plaintains platter and my friend got the same with rice and beans instead of the orange rice. I have to say the pork is so tasty and tender and the green sauce they put on the side is yummy too! I wasn’t the biggest fan of the rice but it’s needed for that much meat and the sweet plaintains were okay. I would just come back for the pork!

One word, Salty! I went around 2pm on a Monday, and they were sold out of the Chicken and Rice(which is $ 9.99 and includes 1 side), so I got pulled pork instead. The sweet plaintain, sweet. Overall, it was good enough for today. But not enough for me to return anytime soon. People with High Blood Pressure, steer clear.

Two Words: Green Sauce This is one of the BEST sauces/condiments I had in my life. It goes well with any food item, including the famous cubano and pernil with a twist. Make sure to try the pernil, tostones, and yellow rice with green sauce(Its addicting). Love the tastyness from Sophie’s and I can’t wait to go back for more.

YASQUEEN! I love, love, love Sophie’s. Really, I’m just freakin’ obsessed — I’ve had the Cuban Twist three days in a row and I’m still not tired of it. The thing(s) is, it’s just so good(!!!), it’s authentic, it’s big and it’s really not that expensive, especially considering how much you get. I’ve only ever had the Cuban Twist and I love it so much, I doubt I’ll ever stray. I’m sure it’s equally heavenly without the twist, but I really like the green sauce and the sweet plantains — they really do add something to the sandwich.(They always give you green sauce though, so you’re really just paying extra for the sweet plantains.) The staff is welcoming and friendly, and most importantly, efficient. I’ve never had to wait too long for my order — I only go to Sophie’s on my lunch break, so, you know, time is of the essence.

I initially looked at my plate at Sophie’s and thought, «oh wow, I’ll have enough to take home.» SIKE!!! I inhaled ALL of the rice and beans that were on my plate. Perhaps it was because I had spent the day shopping and I was starving… or maybe I’m just an undercover glutton. Who knows? Who cares? It was all so good and scrumptious. Moreover, the side of sweet plantains was a perfect addition to the meal. Get thee to Sophie’s for your arroz amarillo and frijoles. You won’t be disappointed! *Tip: don’t bank on leftovers.

Are you hungry? Are you VERY hungry? Do you want MAN-ly portions of food? If you answered YES to all my questions, this is the place to come for lunch. All of you people who work in fidi, I know work can be stressful, which is why you need to eat your feelings away during lunch. Sophie’s is small and can be a little confusing. I am still kinda confused each time I go. You can choose to dine in there or to take out. I prefer their take out. There are 2 lines– ones for sandwiches and one for the hot food platter. I personally prefer the second line. You can see what kind of meat is on the special menu today. I usually get rice and beans, and chicken or bacalao(cod fish). After you get your food, pay at the cashier. She will ask you if you want green sauce. Never say no. Always say YES. The green sauce adds a spicy kick to your food. Make sure you drizzle the whole container over your food. You will thank me for that.

— — — Overall Verdict: SERVICE: Highly efficient and quick VENUE: Simple and clean FOOD: Generous and tasty servings ADDITIONALINFORMATION: Since this place is popular(and with good reason), you can’t stay here and linger. It’s an «order, eat and then get out» type of atmosphere(not that they’ll rush you, but they will kindly ask you to make the table available if you’re just lingering and there happens to be no other table available). VERDICT: Buena comida, buen servicio, y buen precio! Oh yes, I’ll be back! ^_^ — — — Experience/Service: 12:30 on a Friday and it was packed! Still, we were seated immediately due to their quick and efficient service. Our waiter, Betty, was very kind and patient especially when we took a while to order being that it was our first time there. She was very attentive of all the patrons who came in and was on top of it! Whether you wanted to order take-out or get a table, she was there to help and keep everybody moving in and out — without being rude. Well done, Betty. — — — Food/Drinks: My friend and I tried Friday’s specials(which comes with two sides). ===Daily Specials — Chivo Guisado: This was my first time trying goat meat, so all I can say is that it was intriguing. It definitely wasn’t terrible or off-putting so I’d try it again to get more accustomed to the taste. My friend, who’s had more experience with goat stew than I have, loved it though! — Mariscada: The seafood was flavorful and fresh. ===Sides: — Arroz y Frijoles(Rice & Beans [This equals two sides since you can have each side separately as well]): Average-tasting. — Maduros(Fried Sweet Plantain): So very sweet and up to my expectations! ===Drinks: We both had the homemade lemonade as recommended by our waiter, and it was very good; I almost drunk it all at once. All-in-all, Sophie’s is a good Latin-lunch spot in FiDi.

We ordered online for lunch today. It was $ 15 for Oxtail lunch including tax and tip. It comes with two sides so I picked moro and maduro. It took about an hour and a half because the delivery guy was lost. He couldn’t find 4WTC even though the building is huge. The food came cold because it took them about an hour and a half to deliver our lunches. I could overlook that if the food was good. The food was overly salty. The oxtail was cut very thin and small and the meat was not soft enough. The oxtail was hard and chewy. I was looking forward to this because Sophie is always busy but sorry the food is not too good. This is no where as good as the place even on 26th street and that is just mediocre too. Sophies actually makes that place better. Sophie was the worse latin food that I had recently. I’m super thirsty now from the saltiness of the food. I could not finish the food at all.
