I usually get the ribeye phở delivered, and it’s pretty good. Kind of pricey for what you get, though($ 12 for soup. hrm). Btw, when you have your phở delivered, all the ingredients are separated so that you can control everything including the spiciness.

There’s something to be said about eating Phở at a cheap joint in Chinatown. At least there you can control how many bean sprouts go into the soup along with being able to control how much spicy sauce you can add. Here at Slurp, you can do none of that. Your soup is premade with all the ingredients piled in the bowl. You’re served a small tablespoon of hot sauce in the same small dish of plum sauce. Overall, the phở was good, but just not the same as getting it at a dive-like restaurant in Chinatown. I had to ask multiple times for sriracha and jalapenos. When I first asked for jalapenos, the waitress replied, «We don’t serve our Phở with that.» Whaaaat? Additionally, it was waaaaaay overprice. $ 13 for Phở, really??? Server was particularly slow. We dined at Slurp at 10PM on a Friday night. There were two other tables sat, yet it took over 35 minutes for our soup to arrive at our table. The waitress wasn’t able to explain the differences between the sakes they offered and she spoke in a condescending manner. When my friend asked about a wine, she said, «I don’t know, I’ve never tasted it, but I’m sure the description is right if you read it.» Wow. Good thing I had a coupon from . The place is cute. I don’t think I’ll be returning as I like my Phở cheap, quick and easy. Slurp is none of these.

i recently saw a sign up that read ‘new management’ here and on my most recent trip thought to myself… waaaaaiiiiit a minute… since when does this place offer phở AND sushi? red flag. i ended up ordering a mixture of chinese, vietnamese, and japanese food… which wouldn’t in and of itself be a huge issue but considering the quality of the food… wouldn’t recommend any of it. this place wasn’t great before. now it’s become infinitely worse. skip it. otherwise you’ll regret it.(and ps the service is terrible)

The service is comically schizophrenic and ruins the dining experience. Saturday evening, after taking orders from 2 from our party of 10, the waitress walked away and disappeared to not be seen from again. Eventually, we flagged down the other waiter who took orders from 9 of the 10 of us. Again, he walked away before everyone had ordered and we had to call him back to the table. When the food finally came out of the kitchen 2 bowls an excruciating 5 minutes apart, only 8 of us were served. After inquiring about the missing food, the waiter told us that he only had 8 orders, however no surprise 10 dishes were included on our final bill. Definitely a disappointing experience. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone given the terrible service.

This place was nice. Was pretty packed on a Saturday night. Got the phở with beef, pretty tasty.

I’m going to preface this review by saying that I only went here with my friend because I got a good deal for a $ 25 gift certificate for only $ 3, and has a lack of really good restaurants on their gift certificate list. We started with the fried spring roll appetizers with pork, carrot, and onion. These were well marinated, but were a little more on the sweet side than I would have liked. The rice wrappers were thin and crisp, the way I like them best(some Vietnamese places use egg roll wrappers, which are thicker and not delicate the way rice wrappers are). My friend had chicken skewers with rice, and I had the grilled pork over vermicelli noodles(bun). When we came in at around 9:30, the restaurant was not crowded, but for whatever bizarre reason, the wait for our food to come out was ridiculous! Our entrees took almost half an hour to come out if not more. If we went to some regular Vietnamese place, it would have taken less than 10 minutes for what we ordered to come out. And it’s not like our food was especially hot or fresh when it came out. If anything, my grilled pork was lukewarm and didn’t seem like it was grilled just seconds before it came to our table. My boyfriend ordered the grilled chicken vermicelli, and they messed up his order and gave him the pork instead. Somehow, this only took 10 minutes to come out, as he joined us a lot later when my friend and I had finished eating. Strange, right? Another annoying thing was that it was always a challenge to get our waiters’ attention. He was always looking some other way or disappearing into the kitchen. Lastly, maybe this is just a winter thing, but the bathroom was like a sauna! As soon as I opened the door, I thought I had gone to Hawaii or Ho Chi Minh City! I came out of the bathroom feeling like my clothes were sticking to my skin. Not good. There are lots of other restaurants in this area that look cute and very likely have better food and service than this place. Go to those places and forget about Slurp.

Over the holiday, my handsome boyfriend and I(see that? aren’t I a good girlfriend?) walked past this place over and over again, since it was right around the corner from our hotel. Our initial thought was that it was a bar, due to it’s name, the modern signage and the way the interior was set-up. At quick glance, we definitely didn’t catch the vibe that it was a Vietnamese restaurant. The name is maybe too clever for it’s own good? Finally, we walked by again to see the menu and only to find out it housed my all-time favorite noodle soup dish: phở. Since we had already visited Kampuchea and another noodle house during that trip… my lovely boyfriend had had enough of my Asian food tendencies. So…this past weekend, I decided to lunch there on my own. I walked in only to find I was the only diner. Which… I don’t mind I suppose… but in a city like NY, it was a bit odd. People kept walking by and staring at me… ha ha. I ordered a Vietnamese drip coffee(aka Crack Caffiene), the crispy wings and the Oxtail Phở. The wings were pretty good… not battered and very crispy. The Oxtail Phở was served in a huge modern bowl w/the perfect ratio of noodles to broth. It could have been much more tender… instead it was really tough. I don’t mind chewing meat off the bone… but I’d prefer not to when eating phở. Overall…I’ve had better Phở, but if I had to choose between the other noodle place across the street or Kampuchea in the same hood… I’d choose Slurp.

Pefect day for Phở. Rib eye phở was a gorgeous bowl of broth, thin glass like noodles, basil, bean sprouts and thinly sliced meat. A side condiment of chili sauce and a mixture of hoisin and peanut sauce mixed together was yum. Gorgeous restaurant with great wooden banquettes. One of the prettiest bathrooms I have seen in awhile large with purple walls, silver tin ceilings, a modern sink and a farmhouse wood door. The lunch special isn’t written down, though when I got the bill, it was 50% off of what the menu said. Cool!

Sluuuurrrrppppp is yummmmyyyy!!! I must confess, I had not had real Phở before but on the insistence of Unilocal friends as a quick cureall to a cold, I ordered the Bun Bo Hue. A very nice portion of cubed, seasoned beef, with general sprouts, cilantro, parsley, lime and thick, long noodles added to the tasty spicy broth, I could feel my lungs beginning to expand as they inhaled the wonderful aroma! My tastebuds were equally glad! I could not finish the soup(matter of fact, there’s a full ½ serving left for tomorrow — which is fine, all the better to savor and fully heal! Also the winter roll were very nice: 4 small neatly packaged rolls with a thick peanut soyy sauce and little nibbles of peanuts enhanced the already mintly shrimp roll. Only complaint: PRICE — more than most places(but I think slightly better), and not just cuz they delivered to me(when 4 others wouldn’t due to proximity), and also accepted credit cards(which also many, don’t on deliveries). Also, beware — the soda in the bottle is a min 8 oz. glass model and costs $ 2.00! They serve flan in the restaurant, but you cannot get it delivered?! — Minus 1 star for that!

One of my favorite places to eat in the neighborhood. My mom and I first tried it this summer and WOW! We got the lunch special where all beer and wine were half off as were the main courses. So not only was our food amazing so was the check! Must try the Ox Tail Phở and Grilled Tilapia. This past weekend I went with the BF and the Gay hubby(visiting from Philly) and it did not disappoint. Hubby wished his Sea Angel had broth but after giving him some of my broth from my Beef Bun Hue his broth craving was satisfied. BF had the grilled Chicken with rice and he cleaned his plate! For appetizers you have to try the Winter roll, dumplings and crispy pork roll. Oh and I think beer and wine are pretty much always $ 3 and $ 5.

Woo! Slurp is right. My salad was like a soup. Still, I passed a quiet hour here all by myself. Someone else eventually came in and replicated my mistake — which was to assume that the collection of bottles along the top of the banquette were beer bottles. Oh, no. That’s fish sauce, mon frair. If beer is what you seek, you better like«33» and domestics.

Does everyone always give every restaurant 4 stars!!! I’ve had great Vietnamese and this isn’t it. It wasn’t get up and go bad either. First, for those of you who don’t eat meat, the menu here will have limited options. Still you can find some veggie/fish options, but sadly the veggie options are bland. We had to ask them to add fried tofu to the veggie options(it would’ve just been noodles and/or veggies). They did it without hassle. Still — it should be part of the menu choices. The veggie noodle soup with tofu was bland, but I spiced it up with some sriracha which they were kind enough to offer. The noodles with peanut sauce were ok. The wine here(which they offer on special for $ 5 per glass) is really bad. I guess you get what you pay for. Stay with the beer which they offer at $ 3 per. Although the beer is cheap, the food isn’t. You can get the same quality for ½ the price. And trust me — you’d want better quality.

They must’ve recently gotten their liquor license — b/c they’ve got lots of options for booze. The food was delicious — we split a papaya and shrimp salad, the«angel» seafood plate with scallops, shrimp and noodles, and a winter roll. The peanut sauce for the winter roll was way above and beyond the other peanut sauces I have tried at Vietnamese/Thai style food. It was rich, fresh and layered in taste. Great place for fresh, yummy food — service was fair.

2.75STARS Hm-50 bucks for Vietnamese food and NO booze… There were 2 of us: –1 order of Winter Rolls(over stuffed with vermicelli noodles) –1 order of the Green Grill(veggies charred on a stick, zzzzzzz) –1 bowl of Chicken Phở(too much star anise flavor in the broth) –1 bowl of Chicken Bun(average for what it is) The interior is cool and sleek. Great concept trying to have an upscale Viet place, but seriously is there such a thing??? Honestly, I like my Phở to be a bit dirty and oily-too healthy here. Also, were was the cock sauce(aka Sirachi) on each table?!

What a pleasant surprise! For my money this is the best Vietnamese joint in town, beautiful presentation, delicate flavors and good service. We had… Summer roll — delish! Large juicy shrimp in a soft roll Pork roll crispy — none greasy stuffed with spiced pork, delish! Soups Oxtail — Rich broth full of flavor but not as heavy as a ramen Shrimp & crab — two large shrimp and two crab claws in a delicate broth, a very nice summer dinner. Two apps & Too entrees, tax & tip — $ 56 Only downer — NOBOOZE.

This place hardly seems to live up to its name; how could this elegant, intimate little restaurant be called ‘Slurp’? Thick planks of dark wood make up the tables and benches, which line the walls with a tall bar in the center, for standing while you eat a quick meal. The upper walls throughout are a dark plum colour, and ornately patterned steel-toned metalwork comprises the ceiling. Tea candles provide most of the dim lighting, in addition to the streaks of light which shine through the slats which make up the bench-walls along the sides. The entire front of this small restaurant consists of huge window-doors which open up, such that on a warm night, the restaurant is virtually completely open to the outdoors, save a few wooden frames — a wonderful effect. I’ve been on the hunt for good phở these past few months, and Slurp serves probably the best I’ve had. They have a few different types that contain beef, including oxtail and ribeye. Seafood and chicken noodle-soups round out the entrée menu; there are no rice based dishes, though there are some grilled options. Beyond that, there are appetizers such as a summer rolls and cold marinated tofu, and while I did not indulge, I saw a plate with a huge serving of the former go by, and they looked tasty. Had I had room, I would have certainly wanted to try the flan for dessert. For the moment, beverages consist of standard sodas($ 3) and fresh juices($ 4), as well as vietnamese coffee. They are working on getting their license to serve wine & beer, but the for the moment they are W&B BYOB, with no corkage fee, and I saw a few tables had taken advantage of this. Mental note! I immediately settled on the ribeye phở($ 13) and the kari ga($ 14)(mild coconut curry chicken with carrots, potato, and angel hair) caught my friend’s eye — and I may have swayed her a little, as I love kari ga in any incarnation. Both arrived quickly in huge oblong curved white bowls, generously portioned but not excessive. My phở came with a small dish of hoison sauce dabbed with hot sauce. Alone, the broth of my soup was sufficiently fragrant to eat by itself, beefy with anise and onion notes, but I love heat and hoison sauce, and they added nicely to the flavours. The rice noodles were perfectly cooked and not too thin or too thick, and the thin slices of ribeye were tender and flavourful, without a single bit of gristle or fat. I would have liked another wedge of lime and more pieces of basil(at least they used proper purple Thai basil here, and it was fresh), and perhaps a few more slices of meat, but I was on the whole very satisfied. My friend’s kari ga was not quite as good, but still pleasing; the broth was rich with coconut and the curry had flavour but not too much heat, though I would have liked perhaps a touch more salt. The chicken was all white meat, very tender and tasty, and came as a breast grilled and sliced, lying atop the noodles, which were nicely cooked. Morsels of soft, candy-like carrot were divine, but the chunks of potato were a bit large and mealy — fried or roasted, they would have added more to the dish. Service was friendly, fast, and utterly without flaw. I find the prices a bit high for noodle based soups, but the ambiance is so lovely and the portions are good, so I don’t mind as much as I should. I’m also a little in love with the bathroom — which is about 4x the size of the average Manhattan bathroom — and matches the décor of the overall restaurant perfectly.

I just happened to be walking in the neighborhood and came along this little dandy of a Vietnamese restaurant. I had the beef phở and my buddy had the banh mi(which a little annoyingly they brought out as an appetizer). Both were equally delicious. The phở was all I look for in a noodle bowl good meat and tasty broth that has a little kick. The bread that the banh mi was on was out of control and the sauce was super tasty. Prices were avg apps were 6 – 9 and the noodle bowls were 13 – 20. I loved it. Great food great space, I would def come back.
