Lastly, I think it’s important for people to know like I didn’t, that a doctor lives in a 6 ½ million dollar mansion in the suburbs, has an art collection and is active in the charity community, since this would give pause to eatI had the worst medical experience of my life with this doctor and the worst part is I did not figure it out until it was too late to save my vision! This doctor has a terrible bedside manner and spend little time with me except during the multiple possibly medically unnecessary surgeries. Almost my entire medical record has gone conveniently and suspiciously missing and as of this date I still don’t have a reasonable explanation for this! I have surgical records that don’t reflect the procedures I was told were being performed nor the reasons why! I am in broiled in a medical malpractice lawsuit with this doctor due to the missing medical records, possibly unnecessary surgeries and my blinding condition which I believe he helped bring about and neglected to diagnose until it was too late! I was subjected to experimental injections, it is my belief that they were experimental due to the fact my insurance company would not pay for them based on them being considered a experimental treatment, the fact of which I was never made aware by this doctor! Consent forms were presented as release forms to schedule surgery and we’re never read or explain nor were any possible negative consequences or alternatives to surgery is ever explain! Medical review sites have referred to this doctor as running a patient factory, and a opinion of which I agree. I always felt rushed, the doctor spent almost no time with me and he has a very cold demeanor! I would not recommend this doctor nor his practice to my worst enemy and I urge anyone, Especially diabetics to avoid this facility and this doctor. If something goes wrong, they will attempt to blame your pre-existing diabetes and deny any responsibility! If you have been here and had multiple surgeries, get your medical and surgical records and get a second opinion immediately. Do what I have done and report any suspicious activities to the state medical board and specifically the office of professional medical conduct. If you suspect insurance fraud, as I have report to the federal government particularly the Justice Department, United States attorneys office and the department of health and human services since the type of violations I believe occurred are considered violations of federal law in addition to state laws! Everything in this review is true and accurate to my knowledge and belief and the facts are in disputebut I and this doctor both know exactly what happened! This review is based solely on my experiences in my opinions of those experiences! Your experience may differ but God willing you will stay away from this man and his horrible practice

at age 29 my primary dr referred me to an ophthalmologist because I felt something and couldn’t quite explain to her what it was. I just knew I had to go to ophthalmologist. The one she referred me to said«I was a lucky girl, I could have lost my vision any minute». Even though he was a very good doctor he couldn’t handle my situation but he knew someone that could. He made one phone call and Dr. Shabto saw me the next day. Dr. Shabto explained to me and my mother exactly what was wrong. He was professional, he was smart, he was a perfectionist. I immediately knew that he was the best dr. out there. 3 years into my surgeries and check ups he told me I could go back to my old ophthalmologist, but I disregarded his comment and continued to see him. But now he has taken a leave of absence and I am lost. My vision has become my priority in life. I will visit the temp dr and hope and pray that Dr. Shabto is healthy and going to be back soon. I wanted to make sure to leave a review for any other person looking for the perfect Dr. Sometimes you get bad news and immediately lose hope this doctor is the best.
