Having just gotten my new Sony Nes camera I wanted to get on the Harbor during our most recent trip to New York to take some pictures. While looking at the typical ferries we stumbled across the historical Pioneer and were immediately sold on seeing the city in a ship that’s unique to New York. When we got on I quickly realized how much easier it was to get pictures of the skyline on this less-packed boat than it has been for me on ferries in other cities. Not to mention it was pretty cool watching the crew work the sails. All in all it was a memorable experience in the views of the city and Statue of Liberty as well as the experience of the crew and vessel itself.

I highly recommend an evening sunset sail. It’s a great way to spend a summer evening with family or friends. The crew is fun and the views can’t be beat.

Fantastic voyage! My husband and I went on a cool evening in June and we volunteered to help raise the masts, despite having had relatively little sailing experience — but as «assistants» to an hardy, seasoned crew(who might not have even needed our help?), everything went great. We tootled around New York Harbor for a couple hours, and then, because water taxis were docking, we got to spend a little extra time on the boat and got to sail *under the Brooklyn Bridge*, which was amazing, trippy, and delightful. If you want to experience NY from a seafaring perspective, look no further. It’s a smallish boat and the crew couldn’t have been friendlier or more enthusiastic about answering questions, from the technical to the historical. A wonderful way to spend a Sunday evening. Killer views of downtown and, if the sun’s out, stunning sunsets.

How can something be both exciting and relaxing at the same time? This is it! The excitement of sailing on a boat that’s been on the water for 100+ years and the wonderful feeling of sailing around the tip of Manhattan, seeing the sites and listening to the wind and the water. The views you get are unique, the crew is personable and knowledgeable and they really love their boat, and they want to be sure you have a great time, too. You even have the option of helping haul up the sails! It’s a great family adventure, but it also makes a terrific date idea.
