This place is frequented by people of japanese origin, which means you can trust that the food is good and original. The price are fair and the service is excellent. Nice place to share a meal with friends.

Super convenient ramen spot if you’re nearby the Theater District/Broadway/Rockefeller Center. Service is quick and lickity-split, the wait times aren’t too bad even if you come with a group. Plus, the food comes right away! Now the ramen isn’t the best you will find in NY, but it’s pretty good and fairly cheap(the Sapporo Miso ramen is $ 10). The best thing I ate wasn’t the ramen though, it was the gyu-don! Simple, good beef on rice makes my tummy happy. A+ on the gyu-don, fo-sho! Cash only by the way — though there are several banks/ATMs nearby.

How can you not give this place five stars? I don’t get it. I lived in Japan for four years so it is not like I can’t recognize quality Japanese food and Sapporo and its sister restaurant next door Iroha are both wonderful. Excellent food, great variety on the menu, large portions, affordable prices, friendly staff and delightful management are a few of the things that you can expect here. $ 5 for a large Japanese beer and $ 12 for a generous portion of chicken Katsu curry make this a restaurant a place you will want to return to frequently! Start any meal you have with the gyoza… their signature dish and I recommend the tan tan men as well. Every time I come here there are always a number of Japanese people… Showing the authenticity of the food. I love Sapporo! I had an opportunity to speak to the owner/manager Thomas who took very good care of us during our visit. I am very much looking forward to visiting their newest location.,.sake bar Hagi 46 on 46th street.

This is our standby for a quick bite before a show. The ramen, gyoza and katsu are good and reasonably priced and service is fast. Its proximity to the theater district and midtown businesses makes it convenient. It is cash only so plan ahead but your meal won’t cost more than $ 20. Since Sapporo also caters to tourists, the server may remind you gratuities are not included which may seem a little forward but probably needs noting if you come from some place where tipping is not done.

I ordered a spicy Miso ramen. The spicy level is similar to Singapore Thai chili. The price and amount of food is reasonable and recommend to come if you have many friends. You can order a set which can share rice and ramen with friends.

First meal in New York and we were all hungry and needed something hot since it was 17 degrees out. I was cranky and just wanted to eat something that would warm me up. I underestimated the weather and did not dress accordingly. We found this little place while walking the streets and decided to try it. The ramen was decent and the restaurant was super small. It was filled with people which was understandable since it was a perfect night for hot soup. The customer service was decent so no complaints here. I ordered the Spicy Miso Ramen which came with chili on the side and it did the job.

Fast and friendly service. I’ve never had a ramen that I didn’t enjoy at Sapporo.

Delicious! Had the veggie Ramen and it was the best. Asked for a side of spicy sauce and the server suggested we be careful with it but being Mexican we have a high tolerance for spicy food, all I can say is… it was not spicy at all. They could use some tapatio.

Best casual lunch spot in midtown! Forget one hour waits at those«other» ramen places. Sure it’s not as great but for $ 10 a bowl and immediate seating I’ll take it

This used to be our favorite restaurant near Times Square. The food was outstanding, and we loved the servers’ attire, the stemless plum wine glasses, the menus, the bustle. What looked like a hole in the wall was surprisingly elegant inside, even if they only accepted cash for payment. No more, though. The food was okay, but unexceptional, the servers were wearing weird bandanas, and the menu had been cut back(fewer choices) yet enlarged(massive, plastic-coated monstrosities). With other good ramen places in NYC, they didn’t give us a reason to come back.

this place is always packed. I really like their ramen here which ranges from about $ 10-$ 14. the positives: miso broth isn’t too salty and the service was quick. we weren’t rushed even though there was a line forming during lunch time. the only weird thing is that they provide this big wooden spoon for drinking the soup. it’s a little unwieldy and difficult to use. also, as a general rule, the miso ramens don’t come with a boiled egg. this might be important to you as it is standard in some places. you can add it for a buck or so, but I believe that they only provide the boiled egg in the $ 12-$ 14 bowls(eg, the char siu ramen and the sapporo special). but overall, a solid ramen joint near times square that will satiate your need for ramen.

Well, I was in NY for 2 days and I thought to visit this establishment. Place is ok like any other Chinese or Asian place in NY downtown. I ordered Champon Miso soup which was about twice expensive that other entries. This was supposed to be the top dish with seafood and pork with vegetables. The server brought a miso soup with lots of vegetables and couple bacon pieces and almost no seafood. But what it had a lot was lots of, I mean lotttssss of vegetables, obviously just to fill the big bowl. I called the server asked to change. They changed and brought the one that was supposed to be brought at first. Always demand what you pay for

This review probably isn’t going to help a lot of people since it’s for their Chicken Katsu Don. I came during lunch and it was packed. Granted, it didn’t help that it was the week after Xmas and week of New Year’s. Luckily, I didn’t have to wait too long since we only needed a table for two. I don’t know why, but I had a strong urge to try the rice dishes. It was calling out to me when i was looking at the menu. I got my eggs medium, although most people usually get it runny. The rice dish was good. The chicken could have been a little more katsu like, but it hit the spot. The price was a little high, but I guess being in the area, it was expected. It looks like this place sources their ramen from Sun Noodle. I personally buy Sun Noodle for my ramen at home and enjoy the taste. I’ve never had ramen at Sapporo so I don’t know how it tastes. If you’re looking for a donburi dish and work in the area, I recommend giving this place a shot. Yes, there are much better, but with the limited options in the area, this place can’t be beat.

Love katsudon but feel guilty about eating carbs? Than might I suggest a Katsu-toji? It’s a chicken cutlet covered in egg, drowned in a pool of its own juices, soy sauce, and onion. I can really do without the onions; I prefer my cutlets to be super savory, butchaknow do watcha gotta do. Most people in the area looking for a good ramen fix usually gravitate to Ippudo or Totto Ramen, which there’s nothing wrong with. Hell, it makes the experience of eating here even better because there’s never a wait time and I have ample space while I’m eating my ramen. What am I doing with that space? I don’t even know, I just like it. Sure this place isn’t as glamorous or «modern» but for a few people that adds to the charm. Namely my friend who keeps insisting that we eat here because he misses Japan. In his own words, it gives a more traditional feel to the eating experience. I don’t really care, what’s most important to me is that their ramen can compete with their surrounding competitors. Maybe the fact that this place has been alive for over half a decade speaks for itself. What always gets me is the Miso Ramen. Like, it totally gets me, ya dig? With its smooth spicy milky texture. I hear that’s the preferred texture for ramen broth in actual Sapporo, Japan. Who knew? Good ramen & good beer. OHOHOH! I asked, you can’t get only egg yolks in your katsudon. You’re not getting that last star Sapporo until you make that possible!

Sapporo is a good place to come for a quick bite to eat before a show. The location is close to all of the Broadway theaters and is close to Rockefeller Center. It is first come first served and is cash only. The ramen is really good but without the usual wait if one went to Totto Ramen or Ippudo. I usually get a ramen and then make it a set by pairing it with a small rice dish. This time I got the spicy miso ramen and the mini gyu don(beef and rice). The spicy ramen is decent. They give you the spicy sauce on the side versus putting it right into the bowl so one can manage the level of spiciness. Service is always good and attentive. You are greeted quickly upon arrival and on seating. Food is prepped and served quickly after ordering(I swear it took less than 10 minutes for our food to be served after ordering).

This is a very decent ramen joint. I got the original Sapporo miso ramen and you can’t go wrong with it! The broth wasn’t too thick or too watery — but it was a bit too salty. I had to pour a little bit of water into my broth at the very end to dilute the saltiness. Noodles were good! The atmosphere is very relaxed. Although it was weird because when we started eating it was pretty chilly, I think the AC was on? And then 15 minutes later they turned the heat on full blast and it was sooo stuffy I thought it was summer. Didn’t particularly enjoyed that so took a star off for that Service was decent, although towards the end we had two empty glasses and needed water desperately and no one came around for it… took a star off for that Overall they do have decent ramen but it wasn’t great enough for me to go back again.

The Quick: Incredible flavor, inexpensive price, good heartwarming ramen. Always a line and I believe it’s cash only. The Details: This is one of my favorite Ramen places in Manhattan. It’s nothing fancy, nothing gourmet, but the flavors are just so delicious and fulfilling I always get the Tantanmen. My Boyfriend has tried countless other dishes, but this is always my favorite. The dumplings are also nice side dish. Pro Tip– Do not wear white, and consider using your napkin as a bib(no shame). For some reason, at this place in particular, I always make a mess. The Damage: Its been a while so the numbers are hazy, but it’s always a bargain.

Sapporo is a very fast place to grab Ramen. Broth was tasty and very hot, but the noodles were a little bit firm for my taste. Staff is very kind and helpful. The restaurant is often quite full, but service is fast.

I think it has a B rating. Monday night at around 8 its was pretty full, but walked right in for party of 2. Seaweed salad was the best dish… although it took ~20 minutes to come out. Chicken Teriyaki was ok, the chicken was really heavily swimming in some thick(seemed store-bought) sauce. The wait staff was nice, seemed a little flaky. I think we ordered the wrong thing, but definitely not a great option, pretty mediocre.

I like Sapporo, it’s good spot for both dine-in and take out during lunch hours. I have been here several times for both dine-in and take out, and the service is always good and quick. My go to dishes are Miso Ramen and Gyu Don. The Miso Ramen broth is rich with flavors and Gyu Don has a lot of meat in it(I love meat)! Once I also tried the Sapporo Special with double the ramen and toppings, it was a lot for me and I barely finished it: P If you come before 12:30pm, there’s usually no line; but if you do have to come later, take out is a better option, it is usually very fast.
