I DIDN’T KNOWTHEREWAS A SANRIOSTOREINTIMESSQUARE!!! If you haven’t noticed, I’m a huge fan of Sanrio, specifically Melody and Hello Kitty. This store though… looks kind of depressing. First of all, it’s a very small store for a location in Times Square. Second, there was a sign that said: Store Closing. So I thought I would buy some items since they were going to be on sale. However, the items were still overpriced even with the store closing discount. I am not judging the items cause all of them are so freaking cute times a million and I just want to buy them all, but it’s just too expensive. Maybe when I become rich or I win the lottery, then I’ll buy out the entire store… However, if you are a Sanrio lover like me, it’s definitely worth going to see their cute items!

This place feels like a sad vestige of what the Sanrio store used to be when we were kids. High prices, limited merchandise, and zero sense of whimsy for this store shoehorned into an old Radio Shack. Even worse — they keep a creepy costumed Hello Kitty waving monotonously from the window, who’s totally indistinguishable from the groping Elmos and other unlicensed critters who roam the streets just outside the door to the store. Eeesh — the stuff nightmares are made of. Hard to imagine any kid is going to come into the store and be enamored with Hello Kitty. Instead, they seem to sell mostly just disturbingly infantile(and vaguely slutty) clothing aimed at adults.

It’s nice to have Sanrio back in Times Square but beware… This store hikes up their prices! I bought something for double the price of what other Sanrio stores were selling for! With that being said, I’m boycotting the store! Also, they don’t have much selection other than Hello Kitty! Two thumbs down!

I absolutely adore the owner. She is so kind and always willing to go above and beyond for a customer. I drove over 3 hours just to come here.

I was completely devastated when the original Times Sq store closed down so when I heard they were having a pop-up shop, the little girly girl inside me went wild. Ok, not that wild. But I was definitely curious. First, let’s just say their store sign is deceiving. Why? Besides Hello Kitty, it features many other retired Sanrio characters like Keroppi, Bad Badtz Maru, and Chococat. My thought was ‘oh wow, are these characters making a comeback?’. I mean we all love Hello Kitty but these other characters deserve the same recognition and also for the sake of nostalgia. Much to my disappointment, they didn’t sell anything but Hello Kitty items. Ok fine, but the Hello Kitty products they make these days look very trashy and distorted compared to the stuff I used to buy when I was a kid. A lot of the items they have here are collabs with other brands so it definitely doesn’t have the same feel to it. The only items that I think are purchasable are probably the t-shirts, which had some cool graphic designs. Other than that, there isn’t much in this store.

This Sanrio had quite a few items I hadn’t seen elsewhere. They had quite a few tshirts, but not enough character selection. As usual, the store was teensy and it was difficult to maneuver, but I adored the signage outside of the store :)
