The worst. My order was completely wrong and I double confirmed it was vegetarian and they put pepporoni on it! Can you believe that? When I called to complain the guy was so defensive and saying there is NOWAY they could have made a mistake. He hung up on me and then when I called back refused to give the call to a superviser. I hope he got fired. I am planning to report them to the NYS Dept of Health. Not sure what that will do but putting uncooked meat on a veggie pie — there’s got to be something«illegal» about that. What a horrible place and management. STAYAWAY.

Ordered 3 different items on the menu and all 3 were bad. First my friend ordered penne a la vodka when the order came out it was a meat sauce. We let the waitress know it wasn’t a vodka sauce she argued it was which it really wasn’t, so sad to say how are you not aware what a vodka sauce look like when you’re serving it. I ordered grill chicken with FRESHMOZZARELLA, tomatoes & basil. Cheese was not fresh tasted old & had like a refrigerator smell so I didn’t eat it. Finally had the red pizza had I known it would be made with the same old cheese I wouldn’t had ordered it. Simply bad!!! Never would I go again!!! I give it one star because the waitress was pleasant although not experienced. we did tell her at the end please let your cooks know it was a meat sauce you served not vodka & cheese was old!

After setting up for an art show in Tribeca and hungry with 2 hours to kill, Saluggi popped up on my nearby Unilocal search as bookmarked. A small dirty old sign advertising two slices and a soda for $ 7 in the window seemed a little dubious compared to its posh red awning entrance and drink specials inside were written with neon marker like youd find at a cheesy bar. The small cozy brick wall space felt cozy old school clean, and the menu wasn’t super cheap, but one thing instantly sealed the deal — A table of 2 young New York City cops. I didn’t hesitate to order. A sweet young girl added to the hidden local feel, but when the ginormous slices arrived quickly I had no regrets at my hunch, as the chunky fresh slices of grilled chicken were generous, sliding on lush patches of ricotta and the right amount of mozzarella. The breaded eggplant proved another good choice on my second slice, lightly breaded and both firm and tender. The crust was crispy with a thicker edge that nodded toward the Italian side of things. Saluggi’s is a perfect local New York Pizza joint, nothing flashy, with decent prices and classic staples in a comfortable clean old school setting. 2 large slices and a drink with one topping added, $ 8.75.

The pizza was amazing! The Mediterranean had the right combination of olives, artichokes and all of the other yummy goodness! James our waiter was outstanding with his service and suggestions regarding our order. He even took the time to write a few suggestions of things for us to do in the area! This combination of great food and service is rare, go check it out for yourself!

We love Saluggis. All of the overseas guests who stay with us love it too. The food is consistently excellent and the staff friendly. The food is as good if not better than other Italian restaurants that charge $ 10 more for a plate of pasta. If this restaurant had posh interiors there would be a line out of the door. Meatballs especially good.

Small pizza pie joint. Really good NY pie. Service attentive although not so friendly or welcoming. Had the«pink» pie. Fresh ingredients, nice thin crust. Would return.

Great place if you want superb pizza with a casual atmosphere. We shared a white pizza(added sauce) and a spinach pizza. Both were just killer. We asked for a side of ranch for dipping, and I couldn’t get over how great their ranch was. Apparently it’s made from scratch in house everyday. Ranch is a major food group for me, so I even asked if I could just start buying servings from them… On a separate note, our server Natalie was extraordinary. So funny and enjoyable, but also quick and thoughtful. I’d go back just to chat with Natalie. Keep her around!

Pizza was dope(pink and arugula). Liquor bar. My friend spilled a drink after she drank half of it and they gave us another free drink. Waitress was great. 5 star eat the food. Update: my friend just made the pizza tray fall on the floor and they were super nice about it.

We came close to missing it on the way by. It’s a small restaurant, but the service and food are top notch. It’s a nice and quiet place that is excellent for enjoying conversation, especially if you want to avoid the deafening din of many restaurants. They have a few beers on tap and a variety of bottled domestic and import beers, along with a limited bar. We ordered a vegetarian pie with Italian sausage added(it had olives, peppers and spinach along with the sausage). Man, it was delicious! If you’re looking for a classic thin style slice, this isn’t the place, but if you like oven fired pizza with classic Italian ingredients(especially fresh mozzarella) then look no further!

If you’re new to the city(like I am), you might expect these great places with tons of reviews to be huge and bustling with posters all over the wall telling us how great they are. Saluggis is just the opposite. It’s a cute little pizzeria with waiters who really make you feel comfortable in such a big city. Delicious food with fresh ingredients, combined with a legitimate atmosphere and excellent service creates one of the best pizza places I have had the pleasure of going to. While it is a little pricy(compared to your chains like Pizza Hut or Domino’s), the freshness of the food makes it understandable. A must go if you’re in this area of New York. Tl;dr: Delicious, fresh food in a comfortable environment. Not cheap but totally worth it.

Saluggi’s NY Manhattan TriBeCa 5:15pm Saturday 8th August 2015 Three Stars You could easily miss this small pizzeria located across the street from the canal street post office. The restaurant is old school with wooden banquets with about half of them covered in the classic red and white checkered vinyl table clothes. They have seating for thirty but I am sure you could squeeze in a few more. The kitchen area is rather small: a shelf for liquor, a POS, an espresso machine, and a huge pizza oven. They have a decent beer selection and they even have hard liquor. The service was exceptionally friendly. It is mom and pop type place where they make you feel at home. I ordered a large mini meatball pizza $ 22. The crust was crispy and buttery towards the outer ring of the pizza but the center was pretty soft. The sauce was a bit too watery for me which is why the center became soggy. The cheese was actual pieces of mozzarella which was fantastic. The meatballs were moist, flavorful, and plentiful. It was very herbaceous all around. Unfortunately I was just not a fan of the pie. I am sure plenty people like this pizza but it just wasn’t for me.

yummm! I love the thin crust and fresh mozzarella! My favorite is the spinach pizza with tosted almonds. And tiramisu to balance well I’m not gonna give five stars just because my last delivery came the wrong pizza(also delicious. But i was craving my spinach pizza).

Had the chickpea salad… surprisingly good actually. Super filling and healthy; didn’t need to eat for the rest of the day and had it for lunch. Also, James was adorable and really helpful! I have no idea how the pizza is because nobody else in my group at it, but everything looked good. Would love to try the brussel sprout pizza next time!

Came in on a Friday night around 7pm for a quick bite while waiting for a friend. There were three other people eating by themselves and a large group. The place wasn’t packed. I’m a brussels sprouts lover so when I saw the pizza with brussels sprouts I thought this would be interesting — and delicious! So I ordered the Original Brussels Sprout Pizza and a glass of wine. I honestly can’t say the 12 inch pizza was worth $ 20. The brussels sprouts tasted like they were defrosted and there was not nearly enough caramelized onions. It tasted very bland. Definitely underwhelming. The service was excellent and I think this place would be good with larger groups because they have good deals on pitchers of beer. I’m sure they have other good pizzas but I really don’t recommend the one I had!

ETA: As of January 2015 the shuffleboard is no more :( But I just wanted to say that after coming here over and over, it’s grown on me and it’s become one of my standard places to eat in Tribeca. I still prefer an old school New York slice, but in terms of toppings you’d be hard pressed to find a better selection that’s also so fresh.

We found this gem on a walk back to our hotel in Tribeca last Summer and boy are we glad we did. The pizza is just what you want in a New York style pizza. Quality ingredients, like really good mozzarella is used here. We also ordered calamari and a damn good salad. A great place to chow down after a long day of exploring Manhattan.

Les pizzas sont délicieuses. J’ai pris l’Italian Deli. Le point faible: le service. Le serveur né nous a même pas dit aurevoir…

I found this restaurant through Unilocal as I was searching for something close to the hotel. It’s right across the street from the big post office, so it was easy to spot. It was pretty quaint and had tables of various sizes. There was one server who worked the whole restaurant floor so she was quite busy. Looking through the menu a few times, the Little Italy pizza looked good. It featured Italian sausage with mozzarella – you can’t go wrong with that. And we didn’t. There really is something in NY water. You can’t that crust anywhere else. Perfect thickness. And look at those mounds of cheese. It was every bit as tasty as it looked. We actually started with the roasted beet and arugula salad. It was dressed in a lemon vinaigrette. The salad was tasty but I couldn’t really tell that the beet was roasted. The two of us did not finish the large pizza we ordered. I tried really hard, not wanting to waste the delicious pie. At the end, I regrettably left two slices.

What makes a good pizza? Good crust, good cheese, good sauce, well cooked… That’s all. Saluggi’s got it down. Try the Red pizza, it’s a classic New York pie, the mozzarella cheese was unbelievable. Ate my slice all the way, the crust was perfect. Can’t brag about their spinach/mushroom, it wasn’t bad just not great. A simple cheese slice is all you need. The service was decent, waitress was friendly and checked on the table often. The calamari salad along with a side of Brussels sprouts made of the perfect starter, both were excellent. Come for the Pizza and you won’t be disappointed.
