Krista is amazing and so sweet! I went to her because my hair is naturally curly and it gets very frizzy during the summer time. I got the Kerasilk smoothing treatment and it has been the best decision for my hair, ever! I’m currently on vacation and it’s scorching hot and humid, yet my hair looks silky and smooth. I love it! This treatment is not like the Japanese hair straightening treatment, which leaves your hair pin straight and with no volume. With the kerasilk treatment your hair still has volume and no frizz. It’s amazing!

I see Mark once a month. He keeps me looking like an adult and does a damn good job at it.

I just got a balayage done by Krista. She took the time to really listen to what I wanted, and she delivered! I am in love with my hair. I haven’t gotten my hair done in about 18 months, so it was really brassy/​orange. She gave me an ultra ash color which I am in love with! Overall, great experience.

I’ve been coming to Mark consistently for about 6 months now to get my silver-​lavender hair touched up and cut! He is AWESOME. Super friendly and down-​to-​earth, incredibly helpful and professional, and really knows what he’s doing. He sincerely cares about making the color and cut look as good as possible, and will put in extra time and effort if he or his client is not satisfied with the result. Silver color is tricky to achieve, and I am pretty picky about it, but he nails it every time! Plus, he gave me the courage to go with a really daring, unusual side-​undercut that looks BADASS and I constantly get compliments on it. Thank you Mark!

I met MARK while he was an assistant at a different salon, and when he started working here I went to try him out. HE WAS AMAZING! He is fantastic at what he does and he is the sweetest guy. If you’re looking for someone to master your platinum hair at a great price, look no further!

So I just moved to NYC and wanted to fix my old highlights. I Unilocaled and Unilocaled but had a good feeling about this place based on the reviews I had read.
I didn’t bring pictures with me or anything but Chie was able to understand what I was looking for. Super happy with my hair and def coming back! I think what I got was a balayage. My hair was a hot mess when I came here but it’s fixed now. Favorite hair place in NYC!

I’ve been going to Chie for 7 years, and I wouldn’t trust anyone else with my hair. I have straight Asian hair and am very nitpicky about it. Chie is always precise and delivers exactly what I’m looking for.
I used to never be daring with my cuts and color. After trusting Chie with my hair for so long, I’ve gone from never doing anything but trimming my hair to chopping 13 inches, trying ombré, and finally going full platinum blonde. Chie always delivers the most flattering color results. My hair is always in amazing condition and after each major change, she’s taken the time to explain how to care for my hair.
Chie’s customer service is also on point. She always takes the time to answer all my questions, so I never feel uncomfortable or lost. She makes sure to explain what she’s doing and listens to what you want, while understanding what cut and color will work best for your face and skin tone.
The salon is small, but very clean, minimalist, and comfortable. You feel welcomed the moment you walk in. Everyone is really nice and friendly. I always look forward to my next visit!

Mark is the only stylist I will go to! The salon is beautiful, easily accessible, laid-​back, and never feels rushed. For a very reasonable price I get cuts that I know will look good for however long I want to wait until my next trim. Mark in particular is incredibly good at working with you to determine what style will suit your hair’s texture, your getting-​ready routine, and your needs. I am so happy I found this place.

Mark, one of the stylists, is magical and amazing and an artist with his scissors. I went to him with minimal knowledge of what I want and he washed my hair and made me tea and chopped and buzzed and frayed my hair into perfection. Thank you so much Krista for doing my first ever balayage hair! It looks amazing and I got so many compliments on it. To be honest I came here wanting my hair to be lighter but this is my first time coloring my hair and Krista explained that it would take 2 dyes to get my hair to the desired color. However she tried her best to match the color that I wanted. I was disappointed at first because it didn’t turned out as I had expected but I’ve given it a couple weeks and I found that I am much more suited with the color she gave me! Krista really takes the time out to explain to you the process and how to take care of your hair. Since this is my first time ever, it was really helpful to hear all the tips that she gave me on how to keep my hair healthy. Krista is also super duper nice and sweet, and she will definitely try her best to make you happy. The rest of the staff there is also very nice! I would definitely come back here again when I need to re-​color my hair and I would definitely recommend Krista!

Booked a balayage with Krista and I LOVE how my hair turned out! She took the time to hear out what I wanted and offer suggestions for what might work (which I took) and I loved the outcome. The color is great, and my overall experience was great too. Everyone that works at Salon Orchard was wonderful, the place was busy and had a great vibe. I would highly recommend Krista!

Really like the laid-​back vibe of the salon. I walked in when it opened and the owner, Chie, was welcoming and offered me some tea!
Reserved an appointment for balayage done by Krista and love it! She really took her time to make sure my hair was painted to look natural — my roots were grown in from a full color + highlight and I wanted balayage done to blend my natural base color with chemical coloring done previously.
She also gave me some pointers on how I should take care of my hair/​which products to use which I found super helpful!

I recently got a haircut from Renee. It was the best haircut I’ve ever gotten and exactly what I was hoping for. I will definitely be back. I had a great experience.
It is also on Orchard Street which is a great location.

Mark has been cutting my hair for at least a year and a half, and it’s been a creative collaboration the whole time. He works with me to decide on a color and cut that will look good on me and fit with my habits. I’m willing to use conditioner and air dry and… that’s about it. Mark never judges me for not being willing to use a bunch of gadgets and products!
On the technical side of things, Mark’s work is amazing. He gives the kind of cuts that make you realize you actually have cheekbones. He took me from mousy to blonde, and now he’s taking me from a pixie to a bob, and I wouldn’t trust anyone else to do it. I recommend him to all my friends and he makes them even more fabulous (if that’s even possible)!
And finally, Mark has the best bedside manner (chairside manner?) ever. We have great conversations while I’m waiting for the bleach to sink in, but he also knows when it’s okay to be silent (usually when I’m reading a really good book). I consider him a friend/​collaborator/​my favorite scissor-​wielding mad scientist in the whole city.

Rockstar Renee! I’ve seen Renee about 3 or 4 times for highlights and cut (s) over the course of several months and she is outstanding. She’s slowly rehabbed my color and really transformed my hair. I appreciate that her work is careful and detailed, which ultimately leads to perfection. She doesn’t rush or take shortcuts, I really feel like she’s paying attention to me when I’m in her chair. I’m so lucky to have found her! If you’re looking for a true professional and an artist, then you must get yourself an appointment with Renee.
The salon itself is bright and simultaneously both fun and relaxing. It’s always spotless and in a fun neighborhood. I honestly can’t see myself ever going anywhere else in NYC!

Still 5 stars for me! Here is a picture of my hair after washing at home. This is air dryed, zero product. Hair is frizz free but original wavy texture is not lost unlike other treatments which straighten the hair!

After rave reviews from two girlfriends I decided to check out Salon Orchard to go see Mark. I’ve bleached my hair different shades of grey and ash blonde for the last couple months and wanted someone who could take it to a lighter blonde.
Let’s just say Mark exceeded my expectations and was able to lighten my hair at least 5 – 6 shades from where I was. Mind you my hair has been highlighted and color treated on the ends several times that makes it really difficult. Ladies and gentlemen — bleaching your hair is no easy job especially when you’re an asian with damaged color treated hair.
Mark was personable yet professional and simply fun to be around what could be a torturous six hours. He used Olaplex and I also bought the home treatment to use on my hair. My hair didn’t feel as damaged and is still soft despite the bleaching and processing. I also got a haircut to trim the damaged ends which ties everything nicely together.
I already can’t wait for next month to bleach my roots and take my ends to that perfect color!
