Roger is boss at the color game! I went in hoping for a quick toner to cool down the yellow tones in my platinum blonde hair and he really exceeded my expectations — totally knows what he’s doing! I am so thrilled with my light ash blonde color and it was just a matter of him choosing the best toner and adding his special ingredients to make it perfect! Even if you have no idea what color you want, he will no doubt get it spot on based on your skin tone and eye color! I will be back in 4 weeks

I recently moved back to New York and dreaded finding a new stylist. How lucky for me that a friend recommended Jose at Salon Icon. Since they use different products from what I have used in the past, he was very diligent in making sure the color matched and also gave me an excellent hair cut. Highly recommend Jose and will definitely return

This is my go to place! Oren does amazing highlights. He also saved my hair. It was so damaged from over processed bleaching at other salons. It has definitely gotten thicker and healthier since I started seeing him. I love the balayage highlights and the way he cuts and blow dried my hair!

Oren has been cutting and keratin-​ing my hair for about 5 years — and I’m never disappointed! That’s why I keep going back. He’s a super nice guy and great at what he does.
I have dark hair (almost black) and have been wanting to try balayage for awhile, and finally got the courage tonight. It looks amazing — I asked that Oren not to make it too light so it looks subtle/​natural, and it’s 100% perfect!!!
If you’re considering Salon Icon, just do it — and ask for Oren. He’s the best. :)

This review is for Roger. I’ve been coming to him for a few months now and wouldn’t trust anyone else. I’ve had my hair chemically treated forever, and he turned my black hair into a beautiful blonde without any breakage or dryness.
He goes above and beyond to ensure that everything is perfect and talks me through the whole process so I’m educated.
I can’t recommend Roger enough, especially if you’re ever wary of trusting someone with coloring your hair.

I recently recd a haircut and the stylist cut a chunk of my hair which makes my cut look uneven and ridiculous. While the mistake was acknowledged, I was not compensated for the error other than the cut would be fixed when it grows out. The saying «You get what you pay for» is true for this salon.
So 2 months later Salon Icon made up for the error. Thank you Roger for not only fixing my cut but doing an amazing job on my highlights!

What a bad experience I had here but, I was a walk in and talked to a stylist who was hanging around outside. I wanted just a refresher on highlights… was very clear that my hair is fine and porous — not to go too light. I left the salon and it looked ok but the next day as the color oxidized, my hair looked white and overdone!
I went back the next day and a «senior person» was coming to my rescue and added low lights (fine) but put on a toner that looked like mud. I had asked him to please use a clear toner but he was set on using what he felt like using.
Hair looks like crap…
Why me? I guess tonight I’ll have to wash my hair 50 times to get it out…

Getting keratin with OREN was the best thing to ever happen to me!!! life changing!

First time customer and I’m extremely particular so i was nervous going to someone new. Just got my hair cut and coloured by Roger and I love it! It had been over a year since I touched my hair so it was in desperate need of repair. He brought my hair back to life with a great cut that kept my length and an Amazing color that brought my hair and face back to life! Thank you Roger I will be back.

Salon Icon has changed my hair! Thank you Boris! I used to go somewhere else and they weren’t listening to what I wanted. That’s a big deal. I love my balliage highlights. My hair is getting longer and healthier! I have gotten so many compliments from friends that they actually switched salons as well! Everyone at Salon Icon is really friendly and I love that they can usually fit me in spur of the moment! I totally recommend Boris who is so talented with both color and cut!

These guys know the art of cutting hair and coloring! Today I had a root touch up, ombré and bangs… walked out feeling like a totally different person.

Today was the first time I walked out of a salon feeling happy and confident.
I was helped despite not having an appointment. An hour and a half before closing time and Hannah was still able to help me with a new cut and color.
She is a amazing! Really took the time to look through my hair before starting. So focused and it turned out better than I expected :)

OREN is hands down the best colorist/​stylist I’ve ever been to. I’ve lived in Manhattan for 15 years and wish that I had found Oren sooner! Oren is exceptional at his craft. He has the perfect eye for color, knows exactly how to cut hair in such a way that looks incredible, gives amazing blow-​outs that make you feel ready for the red carpet. His highlights have changed my life, I receive compliments for several days after a visit to Oren.
He has a very calm, relaxed demeanor and he is incredibly sincere and thoughtful. He is a genius when it comes to highlights, as he does absolutely amazing work!

Having had my hair every color in the rainbow, I can tell you that being blonde is a different animal. It is a delicate balance of color science that can easily go wrong. Not to mention that a decent haircut on anyone else will look worse on a blonde. You cannot hide any mistakes when your hair is so light! That being said, Roger at Salon Icon Murray Hill/​Kips Bay has saved my hair. I have never met a hairdresser who did blonde dye and haircuts better. The last time I left the salon, I had two women stop me within 5 blocks and ask where I get my hair done. Go to Salon Icon and ask for Roger. Seriously.

I walk past this place almost every day and saw their sign advertising $ 35 for a shampoo and haircut. I was in dire need of a trim, so I thought I would give this place a try. I did not make an appointment before hand, but they had time to fit me in around 5:30pm on a Wednesday. I live close by so I asked if I could run home quickly to change, since I just came straight from work and they were very understanding.
I do not remember the name of the man who cut my hair and I apologize for that because he did such a wonderful job! He was sarcastic and a bit sassy, but I loved every minute of it. He made me feel comfortable sitting in his chair as he cut my hair. My hair was very dry and dead on the ends, so I asked him to cut the dead ends off but keep it as long as possible. I was very happy with the result. For my dry hair he recommended some products in the salon, but also told me about a few cheaper alternatives. I really appreciated his recommendations and his honesty.

Review for makeup! I went in looking to get just my eyes done. I had Kelsey… who was AMAZING. I am not someone who knows anything about makeup, so describing what I wanted was probably hard to follow, but she did exactly what I was thinking. I wanted a soft smokey eye with neutral colors, brown with a little pink, and a little eyeliner flick at the end but not dramatic. She did everything perfectly and allowed me to check in throughout to make sure it was on par. She’s also so easy going and made me feel very comfortable. On top of all that goodness, eyes are only $ 35! A little more for the full face ($ 70?). I am so happy I went there and so happy I got Kelsey. Highly recommend!

I will update my previous rating because I have noticed my hair falling out at an incredible rate. Im a shedder by nature, but this is way more than the typical. Im not sure if this was caused by the products or duration of the products used to color my hair, but I just thought I’d point it out.

I have been here twice now — first for a wash, cut and blow out, second for balayage and a blow out — and I’ve had amazing experiences.
I highly recommend Roger. Between taking the time to talk through, explain, and give me the best and most honest recommendations for my cut and coloring, I have been overjoyed with my results, as he is a complete professional.
