House special #1. Full sized hero at $ 5.50, including tax. Never had this type of food before, so I have no baseline to compare it to. Nice quality bread, two types of pork, plus pickled veggies. A must try if in the area.

Not really impressed with the sandwich. The price is definitely cheaper and the sandwich itself is longer than other Vietnamese sandwich places I’ve been to but the quality wasn’t that great. I got the #1 House Special. There was more bread to meat ratio, not a lot of veggies and the minced meat tasted dry and not freshly made. Maybe I came during the wrong time of day where they were running out of ingredients.

This place is great. It’s a small shop, little to no seating but whatever diced pork they put in their sandwiches will make you forget everything else. Cheap, and yummy. What else can you want in NYC?

They ran out of sandwiches. HOW. Is it ready-made or something? Yeah, I don’t trust that. Plus the place looked really sketch. Went elsewhere and had an amazing banh mi sandwich.

Stopped here for a quick bite before heading into SOHO for some shopping. This is a tiny store that serves the best Vietnamese banh mi sandwich imo. It was crispy, it was sweet, it was spicy, it was fresh. What else did I miss? Idk but I love their sandwich!

Amazing sandwich! Lots of meat and veggies so the bread is fresh and less dough inside to take up unnecessary space! The bread is fresh and hot and the meat is tasty and fragrant! Such a big sandwich too!

Saigon Vietnamese Sandwich Deli makes one of the best Banh Mi I’ve ever had. Bread was crispy and the juicy meat and pickled stuffing offset the dryness. Prices are«yay» but seating is «nay.» It’s a grab-and-go kind of spot. Although I made a mess(breadcrumbs everywhere) at one of the two seats I managed to grab by the window, but hey, when you’re eating something this good, who cares? I did clean up, so no biggie. Thank goodness for SVSD; It’s one of those few places that continues to stand its ground amid ongoing gentrification in the area.

I was introduced to this place about two years ago. At that point I was a vegetarian(I’ve been on and off for a couple years now) and was craving something filling, savory and budget friendly. This place does not disappoint. I had their vegan chicken lemongrass Bánh mi. The bread is sturdy with a nice crunch and it’s the perfect vessel to host the fresh cilantro, carrots, and cucumber that accompany your meal. Their summer roll is fresh and the dipping sauce is perfect. When I went back to eating meat I tried their beef, and Woah the flavor they are able to pack is fantastic. Don’t settle for imitation sandwiches that cater to people who can’t take spicy food(I’m looking at you Bön mi) buy local and support this great place! –minus one star for lack of seating

Hands down the best Vietnamese sandwich/Bahn Mi in New York City! The place is a hidden gem between Chinatown and Little Italy, but the staff here are always so friendly and the sandwiches are amazing! I always get the #1 House Special Vietnamese Special with Sriracha and at $ 5.50, this sandwich is a great deal!

This hole in the wall place looks pretty standard when it comes to Vietnamese Hoagies. I’d say 3.5 stars because it was worth the $ 5, but I’ve had better at a handful of other places. I’d recommend this spot if you’re in the area, but You can find better especially in Queens.

Their banh mi tastes quite excellent. I’m viet and I’ve had a fair share of awesome banh mi sandwiches especially from chains like Banh Mi Ba Le. It kills me a little inside to see the prices of Viet sandwiches in NY since they’re like twice the price($ 6ish, which if we compare it to subway and delis, not bad, but viet sandwich to viet sandwich, ouch), but to compensate a little, they’re a bit longer by maybe 3″ or so. I tried the #1 and the xiu mai meatball sandwiches. I had them pack the veggies on the side since I wasn’t eating it right away and they also nicely packed the meatballs on the side to avoid sogginess as it comes with sauce. I recommend doing that and toasting the bread and meat so you get a nice warm sandwich and avoid geting icky, cooked veggies inside. The meatballs were big and quite tasty, 3 giant meatballs per sandwich. The only issue is that maybe they use too much MSG? TASTY, but I was incredibly thirsty after each sandwich. and I ordered 4 so that was not a comfy feeling. I also tried their nam chua, which are beef squares cooked with acid. $ 6 for the pack and I’ve had much better. I had to throw out half the pack because I couldn’t bring myself to finishing it.

I came here after my friend recommended… omg SOGOOD. The inside is no frills. The guy behind the counter was very nice. I got the #3 minced pork(spicy) sandwich. It wasn’t that spicy so dont be afraid to try the spicy option. The baguette was warm and all of the ingredients were fresh. For $ 5.50 this was such a good deal because the sandwich was huge! I also got the veggie summer rolls which I liked as well. I will definitely be back and highly recommend.

My go to is the spicy chicken sandwich plus a hot or cold viet coffee. Oh my lord. I’ve been here probably 30 times in the past few years. Each time, the quality remains the same. From the flavors to the amount of ingredients they place into the sandwich. Everything just blends so perfectly. I’ve tried other bahn mi places in Chinatown and I’ve been so disappointed only because I always use Saigon as a measure of excellence. LOL The owner’s also a super nice guy. I’m surprised to see any bad reviews here.

I used to be Banh Mi Saigon hardcore but someone suggested this place and now I’m a convert. I’ve had most of the meat sandwiches and they’re amazing. All the ingredients are super fresh and the bread is better than others I’ve had. My favorite is splitting the beef lemongrass and the curry chicken with a friend. Both are so good it’s hard to choose. Service is kind of slow but they don’t pre make popular sandwiches like Banh Mi Saigon. i

The food is great but the service concerns me for more personal reasons that are not only characteristic to this place but I notice it more here. I won’t discuss it though. At the end of the day the sandwiches are great. They’re straight to the point with fresh ingredients and are made to order. It doesn’t give you that sense of this was sitting in the back waiting for the next person to order so I can slap this on a sandwich and send it out vibe. I’m a big fan of sandwich #4. Make it spicy and the meatballs are amazing. The place is small, and has two tiny uncomfortable lunch counters that aren’t really counters but cabinets so that explains the discomfort part. They sit on either side of the front door which make it prime for people watching on Broome Street. There’s two chairs on either side also and tv seemingly stuck on CBS I think. However during the winter is not much warmer inside this spot than it is outside so you won’t really ease into too much comfort either. There’s also a little bench sometimes which is more for sitting and waiting for your order to be ready. Pop in for a quick lunch and don’t forget to bring cash.

Excellent Bahn MI and coffee! Been here a few times while working locally. The bread is fantastic, fresh, as are all the ingredients. I’m partial to the BBQ pork sandwiches, but today it’s the house special with Pâté… The house special is delicious, the pâté better than most, ever present herbs, picked radishes, all fresh and delicious. The spicy option is very good, not overpowering.

Love this place. This isn’t a place for you to have a full meal. Just get your sandwich and go! Delicious and the bread isn’t stale and crunchy(like some viet sandwich shops). Definitely recommend if you’re in Chinatown to come here!

Vietnamese sandwiches, shrimp summer rolls, durian and mung bean desserts, sticky rice desserts, pork wrapped in banana leaves and assorted fresh drinks as well as bottled ones. The bahn mi is aight. I think its pretty standard and hits the spot if your craving bahn mi. Ive been recently stopping in only for their good selection of bottled drinks and premade mung bean desserts.

I came here specifically for their vegan banh mi. According to the reviews, the place is hit or miss — which I can understand. When I was here it was mostly a hit. There are 3 – 4 vegan/vegetarian options on their menu, and not really any seating so be prepared to annoy your bench-mate on the subway as I did scarfing down a monstrous sized sammich. I ended up ordering the vegetarian option, looking on the menu it lists the ingredients so I figured it was vegan. It wasn’t until the food came out that I noticed mayonaise on it(not listed), so I told the girl at the counter and she was nice enough to replace it.(In all fairness, I had asked if it was vegan, and clarified there was no egg/dairy in it which she agreed). When I got into the thick of it, the black forest mushrooms were full of earthy flavor and balanced the tart pickled veggies perfectly. It was a great dish, and the price cannot be beat. I will certainly be back, but would recommend you check your dish if you have any dietary restrictions since the staff may not be well informed… Also, they could definitely use some elbow grease here since it’s bordering on unsanitary.
