I have been coming to this nail salon for the past 5 years off and on getting my nails done. But after the encounter i had last night. I am OFF, for good with them,
First let me say if you’re looking for a legendary customer service experience, you wont get it here. The stylist are no conversationalist at all. Only amongst themselves.
Second, they are only conversationalist, to each other in Spanish.
The woman doing my fill in and pedicure made it her business to express to her colleagues in Spanish that she didnt want to do acrylic and asked her coworker to do it. How she likes doing just gel manicures instead… Little did she know, despite my melanin in my skin tone, I UNDERSTOOD HER, WELL!
Royal Nails, tell your employees that its very rude to speak in Spanish or any language about the customer in front of them, You never know who knows who or who REALLY understands you! Don’t judge a book by the cover!
My nail on the left thumb is NOT straight at all. And the paint job could be better. Won’t be going back or recommending this place. I wear a size 10 in a shoe, yet the «stylist» took it upon herself to try to squeeze my feet into what looked like a size 6 flip flop. I told her to take them off because they did not fit and were hurting my toes, after trying to shove my foot in the shoe. It seems as though she only went one size up, which still didnt provide me any comfort whatsoever… HOT MESS! nothing superior or royal about this salon!

This place is extremely unprofessional! I went there and waited 26 minutes to get a mani-​pedi, when the owner told me it was just a 10 – 15 min wait. Then I was told to sit in dirty chair with nail shavings that no one cleaned off. When I said «its dirty,» she directs me to another chair. I finally get the pedicure and the while my attendant was doing my hands she was taken off my manicure ad told to do some else’s pedicure. I waited 10 minutes for someone else to finish. Then the owner tells me to wait 10 more minutes, so then I decided to leave.

Apart from the ladies who work here, who are very sweet and hardworking, the owner is a total A**hole! Ive come to this nail salon about 3 – 4 times within the past 5 years and last week i decided to give it a try, since my original FAV nail salon, LaBella, was not taking walk-​ins. I asked to have my acrylic nails (which had gel top coat) soaked in order to remove them. The owner proceeded to prepare the bowl of acetone for me to soak them in. After about 30 min he removed my hands and pryed all of my acrylic nails (what was left) with a metrocard. I told the owner that this was not what i had asked for bc i could have taken them off with a metrocard myself at home! I told him this was unsanitary and that he actually removed several layers of my nail by doing this. He gave me a sour look and mumbled something in chinese (i’m assuming) to his coworker. All i wanted was a simple manicure after i had soaked off my acrylic nails. The owner, who was my nail tech, didnt even soak my fingers or put cuticle oil before filing and removing my cuticles. I was furious and HURT! He actually cut my skin around my nails. I told him several times that he was hurting me and all he did was smile. I also noticed he did not take out the nail tools from a sanitary kit… He used he ones that were already on the table.
The photo i posted shows how my manicure looked 3 days later. You can also see most of my cuticles still there bc he hardly removed any. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS NAIL SALON TO ANYONE AND WILL NEVER COME HERE AGAIN! THIS PLACE SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN!

I just left this place and I’m absolutely furious and will not return. The workers are great but the owner is absolutely rude and definitely takes advantage of his workers and customers! I’ve been coming here for a few years on and off and last week I went for a gel manicure when I returned today I was charges $ 8 dollars to have it removed and let’s not talk about the $ 1 he charges for just a quick dry top coat. This is not about the money but the principal! I understand if I had the gel at another establishment but I didn’t! You are charging me $ 8 dollars to cover my nail with acetone and foil paper to remove a polish that I had done in your business. I think it is dishonest and a rip-​off! Consumer Affairs will certainly hear about this! And also no signage anywhere of this charge! I can get into the way he treats the girls there but I will leave that for my complaint which will be filed!

The ambience is nothing special. But it is clean and the ladies who work there are polite but they are not conversationalist. The owner he’s quiet and doesn’t really get too involved however his wife is very rude to both customers and the workers as stated by previous reviews. But as much as I have tried to go to other locations which are nicer and glitzier and more expensive this place hands down best gel in town. Pedicures are good and you’re nice and efficient. If your go and they’re busy it gets a little chaotic.
So all in all it is not serve driven but you get a great result.
If they give it a fresh coat of paint, worked on their customer service skills and had some better music I would give it five stars.

Yes, it’s not the cheapest place in the heights but its totally worth it ! I moved all the way to the bronx and i still make that trip, Ana is the BEST with my eyebrows and although they expensive its worth it !

I’ve lived in Washington Heights since 2001 and this has been my ‘good & steady’ nail salon since then. Over the years I’ve gotten many pedicures (and a few manicures) here and they hands down beat any pedicures I’ve gotten at other higher-​end nail salons. The regular spa pedicure (#1 Royal’s Special Pedicure) is great and is only $ 18. The make owner can be a bit brusque. However, the nail technicians are skilled and focused on making sure you pedicure and manicure is to your liking. The foot massage that comes with the pedicure is divine! The décor isn’t that fancy but the nail polish selection (Essie) is good and the establishment is clean. I especially like the nail technicians Dora and Nancy and most of the nail technicians have regulars. I always leave happy and that’s why I will keep coming back!

I have only been here once (I believe at the same time as the other reviewer). I came in knowing I needed to be out of there as soon as possible to make a meeting. They told me it would be a half hour and stayed pretty true to their word. They did my mani and pedi at the same time and did a good job. However, the woman in charge was a bit overbearing. There was also a little bit too much drama going on (see the other reviewers story). The same overbearing woman tried to put me in the middle of it when it was none of my business. The woman who did my pedicure was very professional and nice-don’t know if I can say the same for everyone else. They also kept trying to get me to do all these specialty services-​all I wanted was a regular mani/​pedi. I may go there again but it won’t be my first choice.

I’ve been a customer of this place for years, but yesterday’s experience finally forced me to sit down and express myself… Generally speaking place is fine, most of the girls do nice job, but… The rude and uneducated owner definitely belongs to different country and maybe even different century!!!
Friday morning I arrived to the place shortly after opening, requested pedicure by a girl I like how she does. Shortly afterwards another customer walks in willing to wait for the same girl to do her pedicure. The owner said that she has to do her pedi with another available girl, that she cannot wait for that particular one. When I tried to help saying that I’m almost done he yelled at me too. The lady left saying that she’ll go somewhere else, I left with a bitter aftertaste… Seriously thinking to return or not…
