of course i find this place on the last night it’s open. of freakin’ course. i honestly walked inside and thought i was dreaming. it’s unlike anything in the ‘hood, but it’s closed, so it was like a dream. the happy hour specials were incredible and the service was great. this is set to open in the space:
i hope it’s just as dreamy. their last location was a health inspectors nightmare.

This place looks incredible. The outside parlor looks like a fancy living room where you can grab some drinks and a snack. The dining area inside looks very intimate, upscale and a good date spot. The burger is delicious. Nice juicy burger between toasted buns. The roasted half chicken was surprisingly lean and not dry. Lastly, you must get the brussel sprouts. As a carnivore, I refuse to eat veggies. But those sprouts were yummy.

Incredible! I had this place booked for a while, their chef uses a dry aged blend of beef for the Rosette burger. Here’s the part that makes me laugh. Back in the 80s people used to say Little Italy was being pushed out by Chinese restaurants. Guess what? Chinatown is being pushed out. By Lower East Side Hipsters. Get ready for change baby! I was nervous getting my party of(7) to this restaurant on Sunday morning for brunch. I called at 11:29 when they opened, not a problem I’m told. Come here and we’ll be ready to accommodate you. Great customer service! The décor is very large and accommodating. There is a large party area downstairs, a cozy bar up front and a nice dining room area. This place is in Chinatown? It’s gonna be hipster town soon baby! We’re all seated and I quickly order a $ 5 draft beer. Everyone is ordering, the kids order pancakes, sister in law orders Shrimp and Grits, Wifee orders Wood fired Eggs in a skillet and I order the«Dry Aged Rosette Burger» cooked medium thankyouverymuch. The burger is very good. Cooked perfectly, it has a nice taste with the freshly baked bun. *Insider tip: The pain au lait bun is baked in house and brushed with beef fat. Everyone was raving about this place after we finished our meal. We came here for my nieces birthday and they brought out a few home made donuts and sang happy birthday which was a nice touch. I had a great experience at Rosette with my family. I’m suggesting if you’re looking for a brunch place, look no further to Rosette.

This restaurant is practically a mismatch for the neighborhood. The space is more intimate, upscale, and neat. I would also add clean in the description. The exterior, meaning Chinatown is filthy, sometimes stinky, and just ugh. It is almost such a sharp contrast that you forget the experience of walking into a nice place all together. Their happy hour isn’t the best in the area and definitely would not fly in ANY of the major drinking hole sections of Manhattan. They offer 1 kind of draft beer. I’m pretty sure they do not rotate that 1 beer. The cocktails during happy hour is chosen based on the day. The appetizers are constant however. At $ 5 a piece for either beer, cocktail, or apps it’s still relatively cheap. The space itself does not offer outdoor dining and that’s is fine. Who in their right mind would offer outdoor dining in the dirty streets of Chinatown? Those that enjoy attracting dirty people? Not a proven theory but a well educated guess, yes. They do have comfortable seating for people watching as your eat. They have a brick oven which I was so happy to see only to be disappointed to know that they only use it for flatbread(appetizers). It almost seems like a waste not to have pizza on the menu and really put that brick oven to use. Service wise I believe they were training one of the bartenders. It was cordial nonetheless and all I had was a beer so it was hardly anything that would be messed up in serving. There are additional seating for dining in the back area after the restroom(1). Speaking of restroom, it is located behind the brick oven separated by a wall. It was clean as expect but the bathroom light was quite dim. I’m not sure if that was intentional but dim lighting in bathrooms gives off all sorts of bad ideas. I.E. peeing in the dark I might come back to check out the food. But only if I have to be in this part of town.

First of all, the cocktail list is impressive and the delivered results are solid! I would return just to drink. That said, I would like to revisit to further explore the menu. My friend and I split a bunch of stuff. I’d heard rave reviews about the burger and while it was good, it was cooked a bit rare for our tastes(despite requesting medium). The brussel sprouts were phenominal! I would certainly order them again(and again and again!). The wings were a bit disappointing. I like my wings crisy and slathered in sauce. These were very saucy but not crisy at all and while spicy, they lacked the flavor I was hoping for. The dining room is comfortable, sexy and trendy all at the same time — wonderful ambiance! I even spied a downstairs room, perfect for a private party or a large dining group. I can’t wait to try Rosette again!

This place is a nice fancy looking place. I like the ambience, it’s relaxing. We ordered several appetizers. The steak tartar was very salty, so if did not enjoy that at all. I ordered the rosette Burger and they cooked it rare instead of med rare. I told the waiter so they took it back and said they will get me a new burger. Few minutes later the waiter returned it back with the same burger and it came out well done. The burger was microwaved, I can tell because the bun was warmer and softer than before. I was not satisfied with the burger at all. I was expecting a new burger since this place was a little fancy. Overall, I would not return again. If so I would order the lamb for 2 because my friends said it was very good.

Small menu packs a big punch at this spot. Starting with one of their daily cocktails of the day is the way to go. The small bites which include wood fired wings, grilled flatbreads among others are excellent cocktail partners. Their Rosette Burger is a flavor explosion. Topped with cheddar, tomato confit and house cured butter pickles, it’s like a grown up Big Mac on steroids.

Came here with my husband because I read online the Rosette Burger is one of the must try burgers in Manhattan and the article was right. When you first walk in to Rosette you may be put off because it seems so small but the hostess will take you into a beautiful back dinning room that is very romantic. Our waiter was super friendly and helpful. The menu here is a little limited so I suggest checking it before you go. We started with the steak tartare which was very very good and not too filling so we had plenty of room for the burgers. The burgers are phenomenal. The bun was slightly toasted, there are thin sliced pickles that cover the bottom of the burger, cheese and their own tomato and sauce. The french fries were also delicious and cooked perfectly crisp. Next time we go back I would love to try the bacon flat bread and bacon brioche.

KenScale: 8.0÷10 Rosette is a New American restaurant with New Nordic bent from chef Nick Curtin. Located in the far eastern corner of Lower East Side, it has received relatively scant attention, but I’ve heard about the creative fare coming out from chef Curtin and been meaning to try the place for a while now. While I think there are some clear hits and misses, and some conceptual hiccups, overall I liked many of the playful dishes coming out from the restaurant. I started out with several appetizer/side dishes. While the baby octopus was well-cooked, I was very puzzled by the addition of Carolina gold rice that seemed totally out of place. On the other hand, brussels sprouts with cashew, Fuji apple and crispy quinoa were very crisp and tasty, and I couldn’t stop thinking about the roasted avocado with chili yogurt, puffed rice and bonito flakes, which was silky smooth and definitely one of the best vegetable appetizers I’ve had this year. For the main dish, I shared the lamb for two with potato yogurt pancakes, rhubarb tzaziki, za’atar crisps, local greens and seasonal pickles. You can make a wrap of potato pancakes with the lamb and the vegetables in it sort of like a lamb gyro. I was fond of the well-cooked lamb, but was again puzzled why the pancakes had to be so hard such that chewing the wrap, although delicious, became harder and harder over time. Soft pancakes would’ve done wonders for the meal. For dessert, I shared ricotta cheesecake with orange gelee, sweet basil pesto and amaretti crumble, and really liked the restrained flavor of the cheesecake that was also melting in my mouth for a delightful sensation. Getting a reservation at Rosette(perhaps because of its location) isn’t particularly challenging. The dining room was empty when I showed up around 6:30 p.m., but it was nearly packed by the time I finished meal. Rosette has a very charming neighborhood vibe catering to younger crowd in the area, also with a bar/lounge area that looks perfect for early night drinking. The restaurant has a concise bar with a mix of classic and novel cocktails. While I wouldn’t call the dinner perfect, Rosette is a place worth exploring to see the innovative take on American cuisine with some Nordic touches.

Overall the food was good — not great — but nothing tasted terrible. We tried: Roasted Leeks — the crème sauce was delish and the leeks themselves were flavorful. Cavatelli — fairly bland and tasteless. the pesto needed more spice which would have given the dish a more robust flavor Cod — I liked this dish; the honey glaze was a nice touch Brussels Sprouts — best dish of the night. Super crispy without being burnt. The décor was beautiful, the space was nice. Service was spotty at times.

Rosette has an interesting menu that is vegetarian-friendly, nice décor, and pretty mediocre cocktails. Don’t order cocktails here. Overall the food was A-OK — good, but not exceptional, at least in my opinion. The apple bacon brioche was served hot, with a sticky glaze, fluffy interior, and bacon essence whose source was not immediately identified as there was no actual bacon in it. This is meant for sharing. The avocado was quite yummy although it is not vegetarian as it has a generous heap of bonito flakes on top. Filling, creamy, interesting. Although to this day, after over 10 years in the US, I am still confused about why Americans eat avocado as a savory dish as it is always a dessert in Indonesia. The burger was of a generous portion. The patty was perfectly cooked and the bun held up well to the juices without getting too soggy. It was served with cheese and tomato confit and felt like a big, tasty regular burger without a lot of bells and whistles. The side of fries that came with it were hot and crispy. Overall a solid burger plate.

This was place was a real bummer. Came with a group of 6 friends and the place was a little more than half full the whole time we were there. We ordered a round of drinks immediately and then waited about 20min for them to arrive. In the meantime, our several orders of Brussels sprouts and roasted avocados came, both awesome. When we started to put our next order in, I chose a few small plates to share and then the waitress cut me off and asked if we wanted to wait to put our main courses in all together and then walked away! Very weird. By this time we were ready for another round, which took another 20mim to arrive when we finally ordered! We ordered our third round at the same time, and good thing we did because we would have waited just as long. The food was alright, nothing special. The beets were bland and the chicken cracklins were pretty greasy. The main courses were small but decent, with the exception of the chicken, which was dry and on the cold side. I’d skip this one unfortunately. The place has a good vibe but it was mediocre at best.

I believe this place has officially extended the border of LES a little more into Chinatown. The décor is laid back but elegant, and service was extremely attentive and friendly. For food, we started with roasted leeks, and chicken wings, because literally every table was ordering the wings. The leeks is a must-have, it tasted sweet and almost creamy, with amazing texture created by puffed wild rice etc.; I will definitely be ordering it again next time. The chicken wings were delicious as well, the buffalo sauce tasted slightly different from your typical pizza-joint buffalo sauce, in a good way. For entrees, we got the wagyu steak and the burger. The wagyu beef was melt-in-your-mouth tender, and possibly made it onto my top 5 list for best steak. The burger was flavorful and juicy; the buns were a tad bit too buttery/greasy for my taste, but my husband loved it. All in all, each dish was well-portioned and very tasty. Cocktails were well made as well, and relatively reasonably priced. I will definitely be back again for another cozy hipster date night.

Great spot in an out of the way area in Chinatown. Laid back vibe with fun servers and a great bartender! The clam chowder crquettes were great, the chicken crackin’s were good, but definitely meant to be shared. A lot of interesting veg dishes on the menu to explore next time with a few of my plant eafing friends. I’ll defiitely come back to try more!

What a great new place for the neighborhood! Cute and cozy bar up front where you can hang with friends for drinks and snacks or enjoy the full menu. If you’re after a more formal sit down dinner head to the back and have a seat in one if Rosette’s booths for the works. Great cocktails and a menu that has something for everyone. Standouts are: Homemade brioche buns with honey bacon butter The Burger Brussels Sprouts with Apple and lime Roasted Avocado Pound Cake with lemon ice cream

Perfect hip romantic date spot — lighting that feels mellow and a totally modish design ambience! I went here on a date and this is not your typical NYC spot. The tables have ample room between them and you don’t feel crowded at all. The booths are quaint and have a real modish feel to them — great for groups of 5 – 7 people. We had: Avocado– the puffed rice add a nice crunch to the soft feel of the rest of it, but i’m not a huge avocado fan and this dish is pretty much a soft avocado with yogurt and puffed rice on top Pumpkin Soup– great flavor and textures here too. Served table side as the server poured the soup into the rest of the veggies in the soup. Leeks(ember roasted leeks) — They should rename these as TDF(to die for) Leeks. The jam made these leeks turn into the best veggie app I’ve had in a long time. Def getting these every time I come back. Burger– big & juicy. I watched my date down this with a huge smile on her mouth. Parsnip ‘steak’ — small but a fantastic entrée. Had a full feel to it. The sauce made this dish a real standout and was one of the better veggie entrees I’ve had in NYC in a while. Def not to be missed if you’re not feeling like tons of meatiness. Drinks: Brass orchid– light, citrus and easy to drink

Great experience, picked this place despite having only 2 reviews on Unilocal. The location is a bit out of the way, but up and coming. Next door is 169 Bar, a classic dive bar(Flight of the Conchords filmed there). We had: chicken cracklings(okay, bit too fatty for our taste) croquettes brioche with apple butter deviled eggs brussel sprouts Cocktails were excellent, artisinal, and at around $ 9, a steal. There is a great back room seating area with flora and fauna, perfect for larger parties or a date night. Will definitely be coming back, thanks!

Completely out of place in the dirty, hustle and bustle area of Chinatown, Rosette is a beautiful, classy, cozy new spot that has some really amazing food. Seriously, I thought I had the wrong address for a second, until we saw the unassuming little sign and walked in out of the hectic street into a calm, really nice ambiance. The menu has a ton of small plates, as well as some more expensive entrees. We decided to go with several of the smaller share options and just one of the entrees so we could try more stuff: — Walnut Tahini($ 8) Starting off healthy in a meal that quickly descended into the opposite, this is a light, tasty choice. You get a little bowl of the creamy tahini, served with lettuce, radishes and beets to dip in it. This is very refreshing, and is a good choice to start. — Chicken Cracklins($ 6) Here’s where things went downhill — this is pure fried, greasy chicken skin, and it is as amazing as that sounds. Sprinkled with cashews and served alongside hot sauce, these are highly addictive. I felt my heart working overtime as I finished these, but they were great. — Brussels Sprouts($ 8) These were some outstanding brussels sprouts, much better than your typical ones, as they were cooked with a number of interesting ingredients: cashews(again), fuji apples, tamari lime vinaigrete and crispy quinoa. This bowl was composed mostly of the leaves of the sprouts, and were nice and crispy and full of flavor. This is another great option for a lighter choice. — Wood Fired Chicken Wings($ 9 for 6) These were incredible. I’m not the biggest wing fan, but these were some of the best I’ve ever had. They were incredibly meaty, with big, juicy bites of meat. They were also quite spicy, even without any hot sauce. After I finished I immediately wished I had another order of these. — Apple Bacon Brioche($ 6 for 6 sweet little rolls) Another amazing choice, these little rolls were really delicious. Though you see some places give such bread as a complimentary bite to start the meal, which would have been nice, this was still worth every penny. You get 6 of these hot, fluffy rolls, which pack so much flavor along with a pleasant sweetness. This is a must, though it might make sense to request it to start instead of getting it when we got it, along with our entrée. — The Rosette Burger($ 16) This was our entrée choice, and it was a good one. It was definitely one of the best fancy pants burgers I’ve had in awhile. Consisting mostly of ingredients I didn’t understand until I got home to Google them, there was so much flavor going on. It has cloth-bound cheddar(?), confit tomato(I kinda know what that is), and Marie Rose sauce(which I just read is a blend of tomatoes, mayonnaise, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice and pepper that happens to be incredibly tasty). The patty was delicious on its own too, and was nice and thick and juicy. The thick sesame seed bun held up well, though the burger got a little messy with all that tomato and sauce. It was well worth it though for an incredibly satisfying burger. It also comes with some excellent fries, which are of the fancy McDonald’sish quality. Other than sorbet, there were only two dessert choices, which were both solid, but nothing spectacular. — Pound Cake($ 8) Like all of the other great dishes here, there were a lot of different flavors and interesting ingredient combinations going on here. On first bite, of just the pound cake, you get that pure buttery, delicious cake taste. After another bite, you unearth the layer of sweet huckleberry at the bottom, which cuts through the butteriness nicely. Combine that with the lemon curd ice cream, and the perfect bite is complete. There is also white chocolate and cashews(once again), which add even more tastiness to the mix. — Brownie($ 8) Not as good as the pound cake, the apple slices they used again here didn’t go quite as well with the brownie. They pour some hazelnut milk over the dish at the table, which looks nice, but I think it made the brownie a little soggy and crumbly. Still pretty tasty, but not particularly great. Service here was just as great as the food was, very attentive and friendly, and several people always available to help. I’m a big fan of the food here, and would definitely come back to try some more of the great stuff.

First to review! My friend lives down the block and suggested we try this new place out and I’m a huge fan. What a great space — love the furniture, the ambiance, the music, the setup and all. Everyone that worked there was so nice, friendly, funny and helpful. We shared a bunch of dishes and all of them were great. The have the most amazing downstairs private room with a living wall, projection screen, private bathroom, private entrance, private bar… cannot wait to throw a party down there. Pumpkin soup was delicious. Love when restaurants pour it into the bowl for you in front of your face. Walnut tahini with assorted raw vegetables were so good. There was leftover tahini and not enough veggies so they gave us an additional bowl of them and only charged $ 1 for it. Was very pleased about that. So delicious. Brussels sprouts — oven roasted and amazing. Leeks typically sound scary to me but something tell me they’d be great and they totally were. Overall so excited this place opened. It’s definitely in a random location but it’s worth the trip.
